With this option, your pet is cremated privately at a licensed crematory. The ashes are contained in a lovely wooden urn with an engraved nameplate and will be returned to your primary care veterinarian within two weeks. They can also be made available directly from the crematory or mailed to your home or work.
This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered by the crematory.
There may be a fee if addtional assistance to safely carry your pet out of your home is needed.
We are here to answer your questions every day, from 7am - 11pm. Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability.
Sometimes, pets take a turn for the worse overnight, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice when possible.
If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or one of the emergency clinics listed in the Local Resources section.
Leslie Peltier, DVM
I graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 and started my career in small animal general practice. As my career developed I found the most wonderful part of my job was connecting with the entire family in my exam room. Helping owners understand the different ailments their pets are facing and what we, as a team, can do to make life better or more comfortable is the very best part of my job. I never want a client to feel overwhelmed, confused, rushed, or pressured. It is important that they understand all the factors at hand and make informed choices for their loved one.
Immediately after graduating veterinary school, my personal dog Zoey, of 15 years, became very ill overnight. By morning I knew it was time for us to part. She was my very first euthanasia as a doctor and I will be forever grateful to her for that gift. Right there in the comfort of our home, we laid nose to nose and said goodbye peacefully.
Most recently I lost my father after a 3 year battle with a brain tumor. His desire was to pass away at home surrounded by his family. And that is exactly how it happened with the help of hospice.
I read several books during his final weeks and one written by a collection of hospice nurses, stuck with me. A nurse noted that prior to modern medicine, birth and death took place in the home. They were normal life events that the entire family was involved with. This notion shifted my thinking. So with enormous gratitude I thank my father, human hospice and my dog Zoey for sending me on my path to Lap of Love.
I currently live in central Columbus with my husband Daniel and our two dogs, Gunnar and Lola. We are avid Blue Jackets fans, crazy aunt and uncle to 5 nephews, all-weather outdoor adventurers, and Walt Disney World gurus. Please know it is my pleasure and honor to travel anywhere in the central Ohio area to assist you and your family as you face this most difficult part of your pet's journey.
"I couldn't imagine having a more peaceful, caring, and respectful Vet join us. You made the situation a little more bearable. I didn't know what to expect in a situation like ours, but my husband and I are very pleased we chose Lap of Love for their services, and even more pleased we had you as our fur babies in home Vet. Your compassion and dignity made the situation as peaceful as it could possibly be."
"Dr. Leslie you are graced by God for the work that you do, you have to know that. You have given my husband and I the gift of letting our Wolfie go with dignity; at home. I could not see putting him in the car to drive him to the vet even one more time and it be his last. Our Vet is wonderful and she has done everything possible to save him. He had been sick for months and only getting worse; there was no way to save him. My husband and I finally realized that if we tried to keep him here any longer would be selfish. You helped us let go and we thank you for that. We miss him and the pain we feel will last for a long time. Thank you and all at Lap of Love so very much for all that you do for us Animal Lovers in our time of distress."

"Dr. Leslie, I am very thankful to have found you in Blossom's time of need. Your skill made this a peaceful experience for her. And the compassion and dignity that you brought to the situation made this a far more tolerable experience for me, too. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor."

"I can't thank you enough for giving us the goodbye we wanted. It allowed me to see Mako at peace and comfortable for the first time in months. It can't be an easy job that you have so I want you to know how much we appreciated it. It made all the difference. Our phone conversation gave me the courage I needed to do the right thing.
Thank you so much,

"I just wanted to thank you for coming out for Tweek. You really helped make it as good an event as possible. I really felt that you cared about her too and I trusted you completely. I'm so glad that we could share that time together.
I'm doing fine, I know it was her time and both of us had given everything to each other. Thank you for your love and strength."
"Dr. Leslie encompassed grace throughout the entire course of this experience. Prompt and kind service from the support staff started with Lap of Love. The initial phone call from the doctor was warm and considerate. She demonstrated exemplary patience in thoroughly sharing information for care options, listening intently to my responses, offering support, encouragement and guidance, and allowing a natural pace during her visit. Dr. Leslie was tender and nurturing with Poof. She provided a peaceful transition. The doctor followed up with a personal letter the next day. It included a link to a heartfelt memorial she posted of Poof. https://www.facebook.com/lapoflove/posts/10155052051411450 Dr. Leslie is a phenomenal physician and person. I am immensely grateful for the profound services she provided. Thank you for participating in Poof’s beautiful life."
