There may be an additional charge for extended travel (see Service Area below), holidays ($50 - $100), pets over 99 lbs, appointments outside normal business hours (when arranged), aggressive pets, and some exotic species.
Although we mainly see dogs and cats, some of our veterinarians can assist you with other species such as pigs, guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, birds, fish, and goats. Call for pricing and availability.
With this option, your pet is cremated privately at a licensed crematorium and returned in a cedar box. The cremains (ashes) will be ready in approximately 10-14 days and delivered to you by Dr. Kendra or they can be certified mailed to your home. Please speak to the vet directly for more information.
This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered by the crematory.
There may be a fee if additional assistance to safely carry your pet out of your home is needed.
Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability. Sometimes, pets take a turn for the worse overnight, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice when possible. If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or refer to our local resources section.
Kendra L. Healy, DVM
Having been in general practice for over 25 years, I’ve had the joy of seeing many fluffy young babies become faithful and beloved companions. As they’ve aged, I have been there to help many of them live happy and healthy lives, long into their golden years. I truly believe that no one wishes to have their time end in an unfamiliar environment. Sharing those last moments in a favorite place, where both the pet and the owners are comfortable, should be available to everyone. This is why I have chosen to devote the remainder of my career to helping our furry friends live out their golden years comfortably in the warmth and love of their homes.
I became a vet in 1987, when I earned my degree from Ross University. I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian ever since I can remember. I’ve always loved animals, biology and just “icky” things, so it’s the perfect fit. I grew up in Cincinnati and have lived in South Florida as well as Colorado Springs. I am happy to be with family here in Lexington, and love being back in this part of the country where the grass is green.
I share my home with two house cats; Maui, the DSH who loves to spend her time in a bowl and Sparkle, the regal Bengal who prefers to be glued to a lap. The two cats earning their keep in the barn are James Bond and Pussy Galore along with 4 beloved horses who only sometimes earn their keep.
"I want to extend a "Thank You" to Dr. Kendra Healy. My sweet elderly Chihuahua passed in the wee hours of the morning. I had called a couple of other places but Kendra was the quickest to be able to assist me. She arrived about an hour after I called for her services. She is kind, compassionate and understanding. She treated him like a someone instead of a something. It's abundantly clear this is her passion and gift. She was more than supportive, she was patient. I knew right away I had made the right decision in calling her. Toby was in great hands with her and your loved one will be too! I am forever grateful."

"Our boy Toby was a rescue whom we had for only 7 years. He was loved beyond imagination and returned that love in so many ways. We knew this was where he was supposed to be. When it was discovered he had incurable bladder cancer we knew at some point he would be leaving us. His last day was with tenderness, compassion and love because of Dr. Kendra. It was so comforting to see how she treated Toby--as if he was her own. She has a very difficult job but makes everyone feel at ease. I can't say enough about her professionalism and the way she loves animals. Thank you Dr. Kendra--we'll always remember."

"This is our second experience with Kendra in a little over a year. We so very much appreciated her quick arrival at our house. She is so compassionate and caring. Considers everyone involved, owners and pet. She is ready, willing and able to do anything to make this experience as peaceful and painless as possible! You can tell her heart is in her work. Even though Max was weak and could barely move around, he still got up to greet Kendra (so special)! Tugged at our heartstrings. I would DEFINITELY recommend Lap of Love to anyone (LOVE Kendra)! It's such a great resource to have so that you and your furbaby can have privacy and peace . . ."

"Dr. Kendra with Lap of Love made this very sad day easier for our precious Emma than it ever could have been otherwise. No scary or painful trip back to a vet. Emma stayed comfortably and peacefully on my living room floor until the very end. I would highly recommend Dr. Kendra Healy to anyone ever in this situation."

"I would just like to thank Dr.Kendra Healy for helping me with Sheba and giving her peace. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met, a wonderful veterinarian. The ability to put my baby girl to rest in the comfort of our home, with dignity and great care means the world to me and I will forever be grateful to her.
Thank you Dr. Healy from the bottom of my heart."
