With this option, your pet is cremated privately at a licensed crematorium and returned in a cedar box. This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered by the crematory.
There may be a fee if additional assistance to safely carry your pet out of your home is needed.
Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability. For appointments nearer to Louisville, please call our doctor in that area: 502-443-0339. Sometimes, pets take a turn for the worse overnight, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice when possible. If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or refer to our local resources section.

Having been in general practice for over 25 years, I’ve had the joy of seeing many fluffy young babies become faithful and beloved companions. As they’ve aged, I have been there to help many of them live happy and healthy lives, long into their golden years. I truly believe that no one wishes to have their time end in an unfamiliar environment. Sharing those last moments in a favorite place, where both the pet and the owners are comfortable, should be available to everyone. This is why I have chosen to devote the remainder of my career to helping our furry friends live out their golden years comfortably in the warmth and love of their homes.
I became a vet in 1987, when I earned my degree from Ross University. I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian ever since I can remember. I’ve always loved animals, biology and just “icky” things, so it’s the perfect fit. I grew up in Cincinnati and have lived in South Florida as well as Colorado Springs. I am happy to be with family here in Lexington, and love being back in this part of the country where the grass is green.
I share my home with two house cats; Maui, the DSH who loves to spend her time in a bowl and Sparkle, the regal Bengal who prefers to be glued to a lap. The two cats earning their keep in the barn are James Bond and Pussy Galore along with 4 beloved horses who only sometimes earn their keep.

"When I realized Boss was not going to last as long as we'd hoped, I had to make a very hard decision. Dr. Kendra made the entire process easy, and almost therapeutic. Boss passed due to complications from Lymphoma, and I would make the decision to have Dr. Kendra come to my home again in a heartbeat. I am grateful for her professionalism and kind and compassionate nature. She is truly doing what she was meant to. We will always be grateful to her."

"This summer, when I found out about Lap of Love, I contacted Dr. Kendra Healy. Dr. Kendra took such gentle care with my cat, Belle. I had decided that when the time came, I did not want to have to take my nearly 20 year old cat outside the home. In late summer I asked that Dr. Kendra come to the house to meet Belle and become acquainted. She came and spent a good while with us, getting to know Belle and my other cats. She was available on nights and weekend hours when my regular vet could not be available and always responded quickly to my text messages whenever I had questions about what might be going on with my elderly cat when she exhibited unusual behavior or symptoms. When that final day came, Dr. Kendra was super and it made a difficult decision easier. I have had to have several elderly pets euthanized and it never gets easier, but this was much less stressful on both Belle and me. I have recommended her to several of my friends who have geriatric pets and who have been dreading that final trip to the vet. They now have another option, which has given them a great deal of comfort. I was very pleased with Lap of Love and particularly, Dr. Kendra. Thank you, Kendra!!"

"Dr. Kendra was amazing. I'd been dreading this for weeks but knew that it needed to be done to keep my sweet Seneca from suffering any more. She was tender, gentle, compassionate and gave us all the time we needed to ease through this transition. Being at home was also very comforting and there was no stress from getting into and out of a vehicle, noise at a clinic, etc. She explained to me and the four children who were there each step, what was going to happen, what to expect, what was normal, and let us love Seneca in Heaven. I would recommend her to anyone struggling with this difficult decision - you won't regret it."
"I called Dr Kendra not knowing what to expect with this, she explained everything in full detail, she was on time within minutes of the time she said she was going to be here, she also called when she was in route. Once she got here she answered all questions with full answers. I have never had to put a pet down but when I do again I will be so thankful if I have the chance to have Dr Kendra at my home to help with this very sad time, she was so comforting and even made this super nice paw print of Kitas paw.
I surly do appreciate her.

"It takes a very special, caring, amazing person to come into your home and help you at your darkest hour. To comfort you when you are crying your eyes out, even though you just met. To talk with you and share with you as you are saying goodbye to your very best friend. Dr. Kendra is that special person. I cannot begin to thank her enough for her gentle care with my beloved Riley June. She introduced herself to my sickly girl like she was meeting the prettiest little beagle in the world. She examined her carefully and confirmed what I already knew - that it was time to let her go. She let me take as long as I needed to hold her and say goodbye. She allowed Riley to slip away, not on a cold exam table at the animal hospital, but on her favorite couch with my whole family gathered around - just like she liked. Dr. Kendra listened. She listened to our funny Riley stories and told us some of her own. She cares so much. You can just feel it. And when she carried Riley out of the front door in a dog bed with a purple blanket over her - well, my last image of Riley is one of peace and comfort. I could not ask for more."

"I can't thank or recommend Dr. Kendra enough for her kindness, compassion and understanding during this heartbreaking time. She didn't even flinch when I explained that Max didn't do well with other people and that his happiest and most comfortable place was with me in a vehicle and that Is likely to put this down there. She was kind, understanding and just climbed right in with us. Kendra was so gentle and easy with him, so understanding with me. I couldn't have lived with myself if his last moments with me had been a traumatic trip to the vet and am beyond grateful to her for coming here and honoring him with a passing that was deserving of the life he gave me. Thank you Kendra for everything you did for us."
