With this option, your pet is cremated privately at a licensed crematorium and returned in a cedar box. The cremains (ashes) will be ready in approximately 10-14 days and delivered to you by Dr. Kendra or they can be certified mailed to your home. Please speak to the vet directly for more information.
This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered by the crematory.
There may be a fee if additional assistance to safely carry your pet out of your home is needed.
Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability. Sometimes, pets take a turn for the worse overnight, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice when possible. If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or refer to our local resources section.
Kendra L. Healy, DVM
Having been in general practice for over 25 years, I’ve had the joy of seeing many fluffy young babies become faithful and beloved companions. As they’ve aged, I have been there to help many of them live happy and healthy lives, long into their golden years. I truly believe that no one wishes to have their time end in an unfamiliar environment. Sharing those last moments in a favorite place, where both the pet and the owners are comfortable, should be available to everyone. This is why I have chosen to devote the remainder of my career to helping our furry friends live out their golden years comfortably in the warmth and love of their homes.
I became a vet in 1987, when I earned my degree from Ross University. I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian ever since I can remember. I’ve always loved animals, biology and just “icky” things, so it’s the perfect fit. I grew up in Cincinnati and have lived in South Florida as well as Colorado Springs. I am happy to be with family here in Lexington, and love being back in this part of the country where the grass is green.
I share my home with two house cats; Maui, the DSH who loves to spend her time in a bowl and Sparkle, the regal Bengal who prefers to be glued to a lap. The two cats earning their keep in the barn are James Bond and Pussy Galore along with 4 beloved horses who only sometimes earn their keep.
"Dr. Healy was so conscientious and accommodating. Her calm demeanor may have even influnced me! I thought I'd be out of my mind crying when it happened. The vet respected that and even hugged me. Not alot of people would care enough. Thank you Dr. Healy for making the best of a heartbreaking situation."

"Thank you so much for this lovely tribute to Milo. You meant the world to me by helping me with him. It broke my heart to have to give him up but I loved him too much to see him in pain with little quality of life left. Lap of Love is a wonderful service for older pet owners and their pets. You are a blessing. Thank you Barbara Threadgill"

"I am forever grateful to Dr. Kendra for guiding my family in our difficult decision to let our beloved Mollie go. She was with us for 16 years and had been slowly declining in health. Dr. Kendra was very kind, compassionate and calming during this difficult time. Mollie was able to stay in our home, in my lap, surrounded by her loving family. I cannot say enough kind words about Dr. Kendra and the service she provides."

"We found Dr. Kendra online, liked the feeling of her website, and gave her a call. She was very kind and caring as we walked through the process and what we desired, and we decided to go with her to help us with our sweet Pug Fergus. On the day, she was just as she had been - kind and caring with us, and lots of love for Fergus. It was an absolute painless process for him so peaceful and loving, and we were so happy we were able to say goodbye to him at home. Highly recommended - Thank you Dr Kendra!"

"I can't say enough about Dr. Kendra. She was there for my wife (Erin) and I at probably the most difficult time we have had to face. When our little girl, Tallulah, told us that it was time to say goodbye to her, we honestly didn't know what to do. I called Dr. Kendra and she was very understanding and nice, even though she barley could understand me through the tears. I don't know what we would have done with out her.
Between her and Lula, they both helped us be calm.
I sent Dr. Kendra a text message the day after Lula passed and she was very comforting. Saying goodbye to Lula was hard and continues to be hard. We miss our little girl so much. I can't imagine saying goodbye and going through the pain without Dr. Kendra there. She helped our little girl pass comfortably so she could go on to her next life and be a puppy again, running, jumping, swimming, and eating her favorite things (Roasted Chicken and Peanut Butter). Thank you for everything Dr. Kendra."

Thank you so much the first rate service and wonderful "bedside" manor. Dr Kendra was wonderful and very compassionate. Thank you..."
