With this option, your pet is cremated privately at a licensed crematory. The ashes are contained in a lovely wooden urn with an engraved nameplate and will be returned to your primary care veterinarian within two weeks. They can also be made available directly from the crematory or mailed to you at no additional charge.
This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered on private property in the foothills of the Oquirrh Mountains.
There may be a fee if additional assistance to safely carry your pet out of your home is needed.
We are here to answer your questions every day, from 5am - 9pm. Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability.
Sometimes, pets take a turn for the worse overnight, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice when possible.
If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or one of the emergency clinics listed in the Local Resources section.
Let us introduce you to the amazing hospice veterinarians in your area.
Roger Chase, DVM
I grew up in central Nebraska. When I was twelve years old, I traded 25 fan tail pigeons, 10 homing pigeons and five Oriental Roller pigeons for a male AKC registered German shepherd. I named him Tarzan and mated him with Lady, my female ACK German shepherd. This was the start of my lifelong dedication to animals. The kennel grew to include four females who producing litters twice a year and, largely, paid my way through veterinary medical school at Colorado State University.
Following graduation, I practiced in Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming and, now, in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. My wife and I moved to Utah accompanied by three Boston terriers, four border collies (two of whom are over 15 years old), and our horses: three mares (two are pregnant), two yearling colts, a stallion and our favorite gelding, C3, who is 23 years old.
My career as a mixed animal veterinarian has given me a life filled with “all creatures great and small” and valuable experiences have taught me many lessons. End of life veterinary medicine is just as important to me as all the other phases in which I have practiced, and I consider it an honor to join Lap of Love. My wife and I recently bid our beloved red and white border collies, Tessie and Cassie, a final goodbye. The final decision we make for our pets is the most important one for them as we free them from pain and give them a peaceful passing. By honoring our pets this way, we know we have done our best for them.
About Roger Chase, DVM
"Dear Dr. Roger,
Thank you for your kind note. It is, indeed, a very empty yard we have and we "see" Cowboy Jack in all his favorite spots. We do want to thank you for your willingness to come on short notice and to also change the time on even shorter notice. It is very reassuring to us that your wonderful service exists. It means the world to know that this end of journey can take place at home and to see how understanding and kind you were. I know how much it meant to Cowboy. Thank you so very much. We may well see you again in the future.

"Dr. Chase was extremely kind and compassionate. He came to our home and was very sympathetic to our loss, and helped us with our decision to aid Chloe in her passing. He let us and Chloe take our time, I so appreciated his bed side manor. I'll never forget he said "This is Chloe's dance, we are on her time frame." Loosing your pet is never easy, but having the opportunity to be with them and comfort them is priceless. Dr. Chase was touched by our story of loosing Kaylee only days prior, and recommended we share our story on this memorial page. Our girls loved each other so much, we are glad they are together, and we know we will see them again. Thank you for your kindness and your assistance Dr. Chase. With love."

"Dr Rogers was an excellent Vet to work with. He put my mind at ease when after he examined Cora he reassured me that I was doing the right thing at the right time. He was very kind and gentle with Cora and I felt very comfortable and confident having him in my home despite the circumstances. I will highly recommend Dr Rogers to all my friends and family as a homecare Vet. Thanks again Dr Rogers, it was a pleasure meeting you. I will request your assistance if, and when our two boys (Gray Boy and Kirby) are ever in need of your services."
