There may be a fee if additional assistance to safely carry your pet out of your home is needed.
We are here to answer your questions every day, from 6 am - 10 pm. Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability.
Sometimes, pets take a turn for the worse overnight, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice when possible.
If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or one of the emergency clinics listed in the Local Resources section.
Let us introduce you to the amazing hospice veterinarians in your area.
From a very young age, I always knew I wanted to have a career helping animals. My family farm always had a plethora of pets which included cats, dogs, geese, cattle, and a horse. I knew I wanted to help pets with end-of-life care after my dad's beloved Tucker passed away. Tucker was a German Shepherd who was the ultimate farm dog. Everywhere my dad went, Tucker was close behind. From feeding the cattle to mowing the lawn to splitting wood, Tucker was always there to supervise. As Tucker aged, his hip dysplasia and arthritis began to slow him down more and more. One day, my dad knew it was Tucker's time. Our local veterinarian was able to come out and help Tucker pass peacefully and respectfully at home under his favorite shade tree. My dad still talks about how thankful and appreciative he is that someone was able to come out and help Tucker pass at home where he was happiest.
As I got older, I wanted to merge my love for animals and biology into a career. I went on to study biology and chemistry at Sweet Briar College in Virginia before starting veterinary school at the University of Illinois. After graduating from veterinary school, I worked in a rural, mixed animal practice with emergency hours. There, I was able to help families and their pets at every stage of life and discovered my passion for end-of-life care. While there, multiple families requested an in-home appointment for their pet's passing and I was able to witness firsthand how much more comfortable it was for the pet and their caregivers. My goal as a Lap of Love Veterinarian is to help pets pass gracefully, painlessly, and with dignity.
