Dr. Jordy

Jordy Merrifield, DVM

I  grew up in a little house in Phoenix where animals were part of the family. I went to college at Arizona State University for my undergraduate degree in Biology and attended the University of Florida for veterinary school. After five years in Florida, I'm happy to be back home in the valley! When I'm not working, you can find me with my four fur-kids. I enjoy hiking, yoga, Mexican food, good conversation and the occasional Netflix binge.

I was drawn to this job because of my personal experience with the loss of my childhood pets. My first dog, Schatzi was a surprise gift for my 5th birthday. We shared 17 beautiful years together and Schatzi unexpectedly passed while I was away from home during college. Years later, I still find myself thinking about that day and wishing that I could have been holding her in my arms when she left this earth. Every pet deserves to feel safe and be surrounded by love when it’s their time to go.

Although every appointment experience is as unique as my patient, I strive daily to provide the best possible experience for both my patients and their pet parents. I am honored by those who invite me into their homes and allow me to help their beloved family member on such a difficult day.

"We were very conflicted about saying goodbye to Roxy. Her little body was falling apart and old age had set in pretty deeply. We didn't want to say goodbye too soon and yet didn't want her quality of life to be poor. Dr. Jordy took the time to listen to us and shared that if she didn't think Roxy was ready that she would tell us and after meeting her she assured us that we were doing right by Roxy.

Roxy's favorite place was our bed, so we were able to have her last memories on our bed with us surrounding her with tears and love. We are so thankful and grateful for Dr. Jordy and her compassion and helping us to do right by Roxy."

"Dr. Jordy was amazing. Such a special young lady. She was so comforting on a very hard day. Without her, our last moments with Jiffy wouldn't have been the same. She provided a loving, peaceful passing that Jiffy deserved. It was tolerable because of her presence and guidance. Thank you again for being there for us and especially Jiffy."

"Dr. Jordy Merrifield was so compassionate and showed empathy during my time of deep sorrow. She did not rush or push me. She helped me to see that what needed to be done had to be done for my little Prince. Because of her, I was at ease and felt relieved from my little Prince suffering.

Thank you so much!

"Dr. Jordy was genuine and kind. She helped me and my Rottweiler, Sarge have our last conversation and share our last moments without any feelings of being rushed. Dr. Jordy was graceful in caring for Sarge after he passed allowing peace to fill my heart. Without Dr. Jordy's compassion and willingness to help me through this process, I honestly do not believe I would be at the level of peace I am today; it's only been a week. Thank you Dr. Jordy with all that I have. Thank you for treating Sarge with the compassion and the dignity you allowed him to keep through the end and even after."

“Roxy was the best. She was a tripod and while many viewed her as handicapped, she took no notice as it didn't stop her from living and loving life to the fullest. She was kind, loving and so sweet. She loved playing with other dogs as much as she loved having humans rub her belly. She never missed a meal and the mention of a treat or a car ...

“Chili was my favorite Queen of Mean. She lived her life her own way and would let you know if she had any beef with you. Valuable lessons from Chili:

1) Live by your own terms; its all that matters.

2) Some people are overrated,

3) Always be fabulous!!

For being the tough old gal she was...…..she left this world peacefully in my ...

“Aja was the sweetest girl and will be greatly missed. She changed me and it feels so weird not having her around. I will miss all the little things. I will miss that sweet, soft face. I loved her and she gave nothing but love to everyone she's ever met. We will miss you sweet girl. I hope you are wild and free somewhere.”

“Jiffy was so very special to us. She was family. She followed me like a little shadow. She was so adorable, all 6 lbs of her. She was the boss with all her pet friends. She was my little protector. My little buddy. I can finally write this, every other time I tried I just cried. I miss her so much it hurts. I know in my heart giving her a peaceful ...
