Meet The Doctor

Sally Lynch, DVM

Growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana, I was the little girl who preferred the company of cats and dogs to other kids.  Whether it was my neighbor's Doberman Pincher or my babysitter's collection of stray kittens, the sincere companionship and complexities of animals fascinated me even at a very young age.  I started volunteering at the local humane society when I was in second grade.  From that time on, my career path was clear...I wanted to become a veterinarian!

In 2002, I moved to Memphis to attend Christian Brothers University where I majored in Natural Science.  I quickly fell in love with the city of Memphis and was fortunate enough to work and volunteer for some of city's wonderful nonprofits including the Memphis Zoo, the Shelby County Humane Society, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  It was not long before I claimed the Bluff City as my second home!

After graduating from CBU, I completed a Master's degree in Public Health from Louisiana State University where I focused much of my research on the health benefits of the human-animal bond and pet ownership.  In 2010, I moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and began my four years of veterinary school.  It was a long road, but in 2014, I graduated, finally achieving my dream of becoming a veterinarian!  After vet school, I completed an internship at Nashville Veterinary Specialists where I was exposed to a variety of challenging cases and complex medical procedures.  Finally, in August of 2015, I moved back to Memphis and began working in small animal medicine in Cordova.  It has been an extraordinary journey, and I am so glad to be back home in Memphis!

Despite being so enamored with animals as a child, I was not able to get my first dog until I was 13 year old, but on that very special birthday, I was handed a tiny, black puppy...and I immediately burst into tears of joy!  Rocko and I had many adventures together throughout my young adult life, and being his pet parent taught me more than I could have imagined about responsibility, friendship, and, above all, unconditional love.  We spent many years walking our neighborhood together, and with every mile, he listened to me talk through my hopes and dreams, my concerns, and my fears.  I know that everyone says this about their dog, but he was the best...a piece of my past, and a piece of my spirit...always.

"We've had to do this once before and were fortunate enough to have our vet come to our home. It is so much more comfortable and peaceful for these little ones. They are not stressed or scared. That was so important to us. Problem was, this came on so sudden and our vet was not physically able to help us. Sally came with glowing reviews from more than one source and came to our rescue within 24 hours. She showed Gumbo and our family all the kindness and compassion you could ever wish for. What a wonderful and kind person. It was truly a difficult, but peaceful time thanks to Sally. They are some pretty special people in the world and she is one of them."

"Doctor Sally was a blessing. She allowed our Sweetie to leave this would in the safety and comfort of her own home. Dr. Lynch was gentle and caring in the treatment. She truly made it an easier thing to deal with knowing our baby is no longer in pain. Thank you and bless you Doctor Lynch.

"I can't imagine going through this difficult process without Lap of Love and Dr. Sally Lynch. I did not want Stella passing in a vet office. I wanted her to pass in our home, in my arms with family. Dr. Lynch was so kind and reassuring to both my family and Stella. The keepsakes she made for us will be cherished.

(paw prints and a lock of hair) I have a peace in knowing that just as we loved Stella in life that we also gave her the most loving was to pass. Thank you Dr. Lynch and Lap of Love."

"A wonderful person - so loving and caring. Having pets as part of your family means that the day may come when the sad decision to let them go has to be made. Dr. Sally is the one you will want to be there to help you, and your loved one. Would highly recommend her to anyone."

“Oh Gumbo, who knows what your little puppy life was like in New Orleans before Katrina hit. I know meeting you the day you were brought up with the rest of the load of hurricane doggies was one of the happiest days for our family. You were initially scared, but so cute and so smart. Why you were even valedictorian of your puppy class. You were a ...

Today we are grieving for the loss of our beautiful and faithful companion, Lucy. We were lucky enough to find her and her sister, Ethel, 12 years ago. . . .not near long enough. We miss her, but we know that now she is running and leaping again through fields of gold - chasing squirrels ...
