George
9/14/2015 - 12/13/2015My Papa Bear, George, came to me in Denver as a rescue in 2007 - the first dog that was truly my own. He had been a stray, so his birthdate and past were unknown, but he found his way to my heart and Forever Home. I was so blessed to have this gentle yet mischievous character in my life! He was diagnosed with Fanconi Syndrome in March 2010 and survived 5.5 years with this terrible disease. But now he is free! No more infections, medications, pain or suffering! It was the hardest decision of my life to let you go, Papa, but I know you are at peace now. I loved you for as long as I could and I will never forget you!Nick HilpipreSwansea, IllinoisDecember 14, 2015
Light a Candle

I lost my basenji girl a week before you lost your Papa. I had to light a candle ...what a handsome boy he was.Mary Flaherty - December 19, 2015
It was a pleasure to know this little guy and it is very sad that he is no long with us. I was bit by a dog as a child and therefore always had reservations being around them. George changed that for me. He was very loving and made me feel at ease around him. Whenever I came home I was always greeted warmly. If he was at the other end of the house he would barrel down the hallway to say hello. Alway happy. Alway remembered.Paul W. - December 17, 2015
Nick:

I sent a note on my phone but I don't believe it was submitted. I wanted to make sure that you received my condolences.

I remember vividly the first time I saw George. Peggy and I were manning a charity booth and we spotted him. He was truly gorgeous. I also remember that he seemed somewhat stunned (detached in spirit). You gave him a great home and Peggy and I thank you for adopting him. His first years may not have been wonderful but his last were good ones with you.

George was a wonderful grand doggie. He always greeted me with a jump-up every time I came to visit. He loved his ears scratched up until the last day I saw him and it was my pleasure to give him all the love he deserved. He was a great dog and will be missed deeply.Carolyn Hilpipre - December 16, 2015

I love these adorable photos of sweet George! You gave him an incredible life! He was happy and loved, well cared for and cherished <3 Every dog should be so lucky! <3 I know that his absence leaves a wound on your heart... but I also know that you did everything right for him - and with time, the memories will bring more smiles than tears <3 **hugs** to all who loved your handsome George! <3Dr. Dawnetta Woodruff - December 15, 2015
