We put Lily to sleep just a little while ago. She passed very peacefully here in our own home. We were blessed to have the services of a very caring vet.

At long last her spirit and love of life gave way to the cancer that overwhelmed her. It was time, she was tired and ready.

We will miss her, her excited greeting whenever we came home, her love of Dairy Queen and ice cream, her watchful eyes and ears that always sensed someone’s arrival.

We will miss her, her loyal companionship that would follow us from room to room at home, her never ending effort to please, the way she would heard us when we went for rides on our bike.

We will miss her, the softness of her beautiful coat of fir, the warmth she would emit when she cuddled with us in bed on a cold winters night.

We will miss her, the favorite places she would always lay so that she could feel the coolness from air conditioning vents.

We will miss her, the eagerness with which she was always willing to go for a ride in the car or for a walk in the park.

We will miss her, the love she had for freshly fallen snow, how she used to run and jump in it or simply lay down in it.

We will miss her, the days she spent at work with Joy, bringing added life to the studio workshop as she lay by Joy’s side.

We will miss her, the way in which she would run to find Geoff when she came home from a day at work.

We will miss her, her strong character that carried her through three major surgeries, never complaining, always striving to get better.

She liked everyone she came in contact with, her tail always swishing back and forth.

She loved Joy and I and taught us what unconditional love really means.

We will miss her.

We will miss her.
