Pets 40 - 99 pounds$300
Pets 100 - 149 pounds$350
Pets 150 - 200 pounds$400

COMMUNAL CREMATION
Pets up to 39 pounds$125
Pets 40 - 99 pounds$175
Pets 100 - 149 pounds$225
Pets 150 - 200 pounds$275

This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered in a private location with no visitation.

ADDITIONAL AFTERCARE FEES

To best honor your personal space, our doctors do not arrive with a vet technician. Therefore, if your family has elected cremation for a pet over 30 pounds, we may ask your assistance moving your loved one after euthanasia has been performed.  If additional help is needed outside what is available in the home, we may request that the crematory come to assist us.  In this case, an additional fee will be needed to cover their charge.

AVAILABILITY

We are here to answer your questions every day, from 4 am - 8 pm. Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability.

Sometimes pets take a turn for the worse overnight or in a short amount of time, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice, but cannot guarantee that.

If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or one of the emergency clinics listed in the Local Resources section.

Dr. Jeni

Jeni Goedken

Growing up in the Chicago suburbs as the daughter of a veterinarian and nurse, compassion for animals and the art of medicine surrounded me. I knew from a young age that my life’s desire was to be a veterinarian. After obtaining my undergraduate degree in Biology, I remained at the University of Illinois and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine. Several years later, I moved to the San Jose area with my family.

Throughout my veterinary career, I have worked in a wide variety of disciplines.  I have been a general practitioner in a traditional clinical setting, a solo shelter veterinarian, a curriculum developer for a veterinary assistant program, a state veterinary board inspector and expert witness, and a house-call veterinarian.

When it was time for my beloved cat, Bogie, to gain his angel wings, I didn’t want to stress him out by bringing him into the clinic. Instead, I helped him pass in our backyard on a beautiful summer night on my husband’s lap, gobbling down as many treats as he wanted. While there is nothing that can take away the heartbreak of letting him go, I grieve with a feeling of serenity because I know I gave him a transition free from fear and anxiety.

I find it rewarding to guide families through providing comfort and quality of life to their pets in the security of their home. Giving a grieving pet parent a final peaceful memory of their loved one is a sacred honor. It is a privilege to witness the strongest instance of the human-animal bond during one of the most delicate moments of life.

Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending time with my husband, twin boys, and our spoiled rescue pug mix, Rufus. I have a passion for volunteering at the twins’ school and in our community. When I am not at the boys’ baseball field, you can find me cheering on both the Chicago and Bay Area sports teams.

"Dr. Jeni Goedken and Kristin and the rest of the women I spoke are the most wonderful people I’ve ever met. They all we’re very patient with me when I went on about my life and the thought of losing Romeo. I wouldn’t do this any other way from now on Dr. Jeni walked us through everything. These women we’re like angels. The whole thing was so much better than stressing him out going to a vets office where it’s so much more in personable. I can’t thank you e Dr Jen. enough for all she did for she did . I miss my Romeo so much his 19 yr old brother is still looking for him and that is really sad."

"Dr Jeni Goedken was a true blessing during this difficult time... She has a very peaceful energy and made the whole process stress-free. She's very compassionate. I appreciate that she talked to  Pai  every step of the way as well. She gave us the time & space we needed and did not rush us at all. "Dr. Jeni,

Our experience was both sad and beautiful at the same time. We are so grateful that Max was at home with us and under your compassionate care. It was clear to me that you were chosen to do the work you do by a force that is greater than all of us. A calling that few can answer."

"On January 29 our beautiful little Clarice took a turn for the worse and was having extreme difficulty breathing. Her Vet said she would not recover and was suffering. We knew it was her time to leave us. I knew I wanted her home with us when she passed. I found Lap of Love because of all the great reviews about the company and Dr. Jeni Goedken. I called very early in the morning and received a call the minute they opened. The person who called was so kind and understanding. We made the appointment for that afternoon.

Dr. Jeni came to our home that afternoon I could immediately tell she had such a kind heart. She explained to us what she would be doing and she had such compassion. She met our little Clarice and she was so gentle with her. She told us to hold her and take as much time as we needed. We sat for quite some time holding Clarice and saying our good byes. It was heart wrenching. We told Dr. Jeni it was time and she gave Clarice a little injection and our darling baby girl passed so peacefully in her Mommy and Daddy’s arms with her little doggy brother Oliver next to us. Dr. Jeni also had taken a paw print in clay with her name on it. It was so nice to have that. Dr. jeni then put our little Clarice in a wicker bed with pretty bedding and blankets. She looked warm and at peace. Dr. Jeni gave Clarice and us such a warm, compassionate and peaceful farewell.

We will always be so grateful to Dr. Jeni and Lap of Love. Thank you for all you do."

"Dr. Jeni exceeded all of our expectations, and our experience with her was the most wonderful. My husband and I were very impressed with her, in spite of us experiencing a difficult time of our beloved dog's life coming to an end due to kidney failure. Our dear Billie was a German Shepherd. She was almost 20 years young, half blind and deaf, but still loving, loyal, smart and gentle. Billie managed to outlive all of her dog friends of the same age, and still had her full mental faculties at the time of her passing. Billie's kidneys progressively failed over the course of the past 4 years and, and we decided to make the difficult and heartbreaking decision to give her the final gift of freedom from pain and suffering of her extreme old age. Billie hated going to the vet her whole life, and every time it was a traumatic experience for her. The fact that Dr. Jeni was able to make a house call made all the difference in Billie's last day with us. Dr. Jeni made Billie and us comfortable and gently guided us, showing incredible emotional intelligence, knowledge of her craft, wisdom, kindness and understanding. This was one of the most stressful days in our human lives. Both my husband and I were crying the whole time, but Billie and both of us were guided through the process by Dr. Jeni in such way, that this sad day of our beloved dog passing was made also into a beautiful memory of celebration of Billie's long life. Billie had a beautiful, peaceful expression on her face as Dr. Jeni helped us carry her to the car after Billie happily passed away in our arms. Billie is no longer suffering - we know that she is waiting for us on the other side. Many thanks to Dr. Jeni for her wonderful work. Our family appreciates it from the bottom of our hearts."

“My beautiful boy crossed the rainbow bridge as I held him so tight. I wake up everyday with everything and anything reminding me of him. I am completely and utterly devastated. I am just so sad without him and I look for him in places he used to be and I cry cause he’s not there. He was so loyal, he would stand in the rain and wait for me to come ...

“I first met Sherlock at the Humane Society of Marin County. When I opened the door to his cage, he stepped into my arms and placed each paw on either side of my neck and nuzzled me. That was the deciding factor. I said, "You know, you are coming home with me." At that time he was 1 year old and an 18-pound Maine Coon cat.

They say that ...
