Pets 40 - 99 pounds$300
Pets 100 - 149 pounds$350
Pets 150 - 200 pounds$400

COMMUNAL CREMATION
Pets up to 39 pounds$125
Pets 40 - 99 pounds$175
Pets 100 - 149 pounds$225
Pets 150 - 200 pounds$275

This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered in a private location with no visitation.

ADDITIONAL AFTERCARE FEES

To best honor your personal space, our doctors do not arrive with a vet technician. Therefore, if your family has elected cremation for a pet over 30 pounds, we may ask your assistance moving your loved one after euthanasia has been performed.  If additional help is needed outside what is available in the home, we may request that the crematory come to assist us.  In this case, an additional fee will be needed to cover their charge.

We are here to answer your questions every day, from 4 am - 8 pm. Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability.

Dr. Jeni

Jeni Goedken

Growing up in the Chicago suburbs as the daughter of a veterinarian and nurse, compassion for animals and the art of medicine surrounded me. I knew from a young age that my life’s desire was to be a veterinarian. After obtaining my undergraduate degree in Biology, I remained at the University of Illinois and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine. Several years later, I moved to the San Jose area with my family.

Throughout my veterinary career, I have worked in a wide variety of disciplines.  I have been a general practitioner in a traditional clinical setting, a solo shelter veterinarian, a curriculum developer for a veterinary assistant program, a state veterinary board inspector and expert witness, and a house-call veterinarian.

When it was time for my beloved cat, Bogie, to gain his angel wings, I didn’t want to stress him out by bringing him into the clinic. Instead, I helped him pass in our backyard on a beautiful summer night on my husband’s lap, gobbling down as many treats as he wanted. While there is nothing that can take away the heartbreak of letting him go, I grieve with a feeling of serenity because I know I gave him a transition free from fear and anxiety.

I find it rewarding to guide families through providing comfort and quality of life to their pets in the security of their home. Giving a grieving pet parent a final peaceful memory of their loved one is a sacred honor. It is a privilege to witness the strongest instance of the human-animal bond during one of the most delicate moments of life.

Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending time with my husband, twin boys, and our spoiled rescue pug mix, Rufus. I have a passion for volunteering at the twins’ school and in our community. When I am not at the boys’ baseball field, you can find me cheering on both the Chicago and Bay Area sports teams.

"Dear Dr. Jeni,

Losing a pet is never easy, especially one as brave as our blind dog Britt, but then having to say goodbye so soon to our other dog Bella was definitely extra hard. We were so lucky to have called you to help make their last minutes as calm and pleasant as possible. You were definitely correct when you said that we will always remember our last few minutes with them and we were glad that we could have those minutes in our home. Thank you so much for your comforting words and genuine compassion. We really appreciate it.

Gratefully Yours,

Marcus and Lenora Louie"

"Dear Dr. Jeni ,

Thank you for helping Bentley yesterday cross the rainbow bridge.

Even though it was sad somehow it was beautiful and I am glad that you were there at the end to help him cross over that bridge. I thought that everything went just perfect."

"How do you give 5 stars to the doctor who put your beautiful boy (dog) to sleep. You would give the moon because your friend was in his house, surrounded by everyone who loved him. Coaxed over the rainbow bridge by someone who wanted to insure his last memories were joy filled and you and your family got to say goodbye. I have taken many furry friends into our doctors office to end their life, mostly emergently. If you think the end is near, call these people. We called on Wednesday afternoon for mid morning Friday. Dr Jeni arrived, talked to us outside for a few minutes, explained how this would work. I cannot thank her enough for making us feel a little better on such a wretched day."

"Dr. Jeni completely exceeded my expectations and helped my fiancee and I through one of the hardest days of our life. Our kitty had been fighting a losing battle with cancer and the day came when we just knew it was time.

Dr. Jeni has a soft voice and gentle demeanor, which during this tough time is a blessing. She walked us through the process with great detail so we were comfortable. She gave us plenty of time and privacy in between each step so could have our final moments together just us, our kitty, and our feelings. We could not have asked for a better person to come out and help us through this tough time.

Dr. Jeni thank you so much. Words cannot describe our gratitude for everything you have done for us."

"The experience of losing a loved pet by euthanasia was a new one for me. My perception of what it would be like and what it was we're two very different things.

I'm so so so grateful to Dr. Jeni and Lap of Love for helping make the memory of what was an extremely difficult experience into one that felt dignified and humane.

The best part of the experience was knowing what was going to happen ahead of time. Dr. Jeni put together a series of videos to explain what was going to happen, because of the need to limit exposure (COVID-19). Despite us seeing the videos, she took the time to explain again.

In our backyard, in our arms, Skittles slowly drifted into a restful sleep. Only after the pain was gone did Dr. Jeni help Skittles leap onto the rainbow bridge and cross over.

Thank you, Dr. Jeni for the respectful and gracious experience. Your compassion and clear explanation of the process helped us through a very challenging experience.

I would highly recommend, if you have to go through this heart wrenching experience, consider Laps of Love. They come to you, they're respectful, they take an abundance of caution."

"To Dr. Jeni,

We really appreciate you. You made the process so easy for us. Thank you so much for reassuring me especially my wife that our dog was not in pain. Our house feels empty but we know he is in a better place now with no pain.... Thank you again for your help."

“Today, June 19th, at 10:12 a.m. my sweet pup, who was held in my arms, went on to heaven. We had a full circle experience together. He stayed gazing into my eyes as he crossed over similar to how he stared into my eyes the entire way home after he decided I was the right companion for him. I am so grateful to Lap of Love and the vet, Dr. Jeni, who ...
