Pets 100 - 149 pounds$350
Pets 150 - 200 pounds$400

ADDITIONAL AFTERCARE FEES

To best honor your personal space, our doctors do not arrive with a vet technician. Therefore, if your family has elected cremation for a pet over 30 pounds, we may ask your assistance moving your loved one after euthanasia has been performed.  If additional help is needed outside what is available in the home, we may request that the crematory come to assist us.  In this case, an additional fee will be needed to cover their charge.

Meet the Doctor

Let us introduce you to the amazing hospice veterinarian in your area!

Dr. Jeni

Jeni Goedken

Growing up in the Chicago suburbs as the daughter of a veterinarian and nurse, compassion for animals and the art of medicine surrounded me. I knew from a young age that my life’s desire was to be a veterinarian. After obtaining my undergraduate degree in Biology, I remained at the University of Illinois and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine. Several years later, I moved to the San Jose area with my family.

Throughout my veterinary career, I have worked in a wide variety of disciplines.  I have been a general practitioner in a traditional clinical setting, a solo shelter veterinarian, a curriculum developer for a veterinary assistant program, a state veterinary board inspector and expert witness, and a house-call veterinarian.

When it was time for my beloved cat, Bogie, to gain his angel wings, I didn’t want to stress him out by bringing him into the clinic. Instead, I helped him pass in our backyard on a beautiful summer night on my husband’s lap, gobbling down as many treats as he wanted. While there is nothing that can take away the heartbreak of letting him go, I grieve with a feeling of serenity because I know I gave him a transition free from fear and anxiety.

I find it rewarding to guide families through providing comfort and quality of life to their pets in the security of their home. Giving a grieving pet parent a final peaceful memory of their loved one is a sacred honor. It is a privilege to witness the strongest instance of the human-animal bond during one of the most delicate moments of life.

Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending time with my husband, twin boys, and our spoiled rescue pug mix, Rufus. I have a passion for volunteering at the twins’ school and in our community. When I am not at the boys’ baseball field, you can find me cheering on both the Chicago and Bay Area sports teams.

"Dear Dr. Jeni,

You came to my house last night to help our dear cat Quinn pass. I am very grateful for how everything was handled. Your explanations were clear, warm and understanding. Your manner with Quinn was gentle and caring. At no point was he afraid, and he went very peacefully. While we miss him terribly, I could not have hoped for a kinder end to his life.

I also want to thank you so much for carefully wrapping Quinn for his burial. I was dreading doing this (I'm crying right now just thinking about it), but you took over and did it so well. It might sound odd, but it made me feel that Quinn was cozy in a way at the end. This helped me a lot later when I actually buried him, more than I could have imagined.

Please accept the gratitude of my whole family. Although my wife and daughter weren't able to be present because it was simply too much for them to bear, they were very thankful when they heard how things went. We all loved Quinn dearly, and you helped to make our final memories of him so much more pleasant."

"Dr. Jeni assisted with Cash's journey to Heaven.

She was so sweet to Cash and our family.

I will never forget how kind Dr. Jeni was during Cash's final

moments."

"Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our darling big boy Neo. He was a huge Greater Swiss Mountain dog and it was devastating having to let him go. My uncle researched for hours and hours trying to find someone to come to the house and help Neo pass on and he found Dr. Jeni, and what an absolute gem she was. She was thorough with explaining what was going to happen, she gave us our space, she was extremely gentle with Neo (he even had a big smile on his face when she with us), she was understanding, she let us take our time saying goodbye at every step, she had a mask on the whole time, and she even loved on our other boy Dash while we were saying goodbye to Neo. She was incredible and her associate from the crematorium was just as amazing. They were both so caring and gentle when transporting Neo. My boyfriend and his family recently had to put down their dog (Maggie) and he was there and he actually cried because he wishes he was able to use Dr. Jeni when his sweet girl left us instead of going to an insensitive vet who talked about his business going under the whole time. His mom even wrote Dr. Jenis number down for when it is their other dogs time. I don't think I'll ever go to anyone or anywhere else other than her in the future when I have to say goodbye to my pets. I wish I could give her more than 5 stars for the peace of mind she gave to us. Neo went so peacefully he was even snoring. Just incredible. She went above and beyond in every sense and during that hard time it was extremely appreciated."

“I'm sorry I wasn't able to give you more years of safety, Buddy. You deserved so many more days of soft beds, bowls of treats, and cans of salmon. Thanks for picking us, for trusting us and for loving us. I'll miss you very much and will hold you in my heart always. 💗”

“Cash loved going to the beach and went to many lakes in California and Nevada. He would get his feet and belly wet though he was not fond of swimming. He loved being in the warm sun and hopping around the rocks. Most all he loved being with his family.”

“From mom:
Had to say goodbye yesterday to my best kitty friend in the whole wide world, Abby.

I remember our first night in my Stockton apartment together as a kitten, you were cuddled up next to me in my bed, I told you “the only person you have to love is me, no one else” and you did just that for 15 great years girl. You eventually let ...

“Today, June 19th, at 10:12 a.m. my sweet pup, who was held in my arms, went on to heaven. We had a full circle experience together. He stayed gazing into my eyes as he crossed over similar to how he stared into my eyes the entire way home after he decided I was the right companion for him. I am so grateful to Lap of Love and the vet, Dr. Jeni, who ...
