PRIVATE CREMATION

Pets 40 - 99 pounds$300
Pets 100 - 149 pounds$350
Pets 150 - 200 pounds$400

COMMUNAL CREMATION
Pets up to 39 pounds$125
Pets 40 - 99 pounds$175
Pets 100 - 149 pounds$225
Pets 150 - 200 pounds$275

This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered in a private location with no visitation.

ADDITIONAL AFTERCARE FEES

To best honor your personal space, our doctors do not arrive with a vet technician. Therefore, if your family has elected cremation for a pet over 30 pounds, we may ask your assistance moving your loved one after euthanasia has been performed.  If additional help is needed outside what is available in the home, we may request that the crematory come to assist us.  In this case, an additional fee will be needed to cover their charge.

AVAILABILITY

We are here to answer your questions every day, from 4 am - 8 pm. Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability.

Sometimes pets take a turn for the worse overnight or in a short amount of time, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice, but cannot guarantee that.

If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or one of the emergency clinics listed in the Local Resources section.

Dr. Jeni

Jeni Goedken

Growing up in the Chicago suburbs as the daughter of a veterinarian and nurse, compassion for animals and the art of medicine surrounded me. I knew from a young age that my life’s desire was to be a veterinarian. After obtaining my undergraduate degree in Biology, I remained at the University of Illinois and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine. Several years later, I moved to the San Jose area with my family.

Throughout my veterinary career, I have worked in a wide variety of disciplines.  I have been a general practitioner in a traditional clinical setting, a solo shelter veterinarian, a curriculum developer for a veterinary assistant program, a state veterinary board inspector and expert witness, and a house-call veterinarian.

When it was time for my beloved cat, Bogie, to gain his angel wings, I didn’t want to stress him out by bringing him into the clinic. Instead, I helped him pass in our backyard on a beautiful summer night on my husband’s lap, gobbling down as many treats as he wanted. While there is nothing that can take away the heartbreak of letting him go, I grieve with a feeling of serenity because I know I gave him a transition free from fear and anxiety.

I find it rewarding to guide families through providing comfort and quality of life to their pets in the security of their home. Giving a grieving pet parent a final peaceful memory of their loved one is a sacred honor. It is a privilege to witness the strongest instance of the human-animal bond during one of the most delicate moments of life.

Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending time with my husband, twin boys, and our spoiled rescue pug mix, Rufus. I have a passion for volunteering at the twins’ school and in our community. When I am not at the boys’ baseball field, you can find me cheering on both the Chicago and Bay Area sports teams.

"Having to euthanize our Black Labrador, Lucy, was a heartbreaking (though necessary) ordeal for my wife and me (this was her first dog). Dr. Jeni G. was the perfect person to help us. She was empathetic, professional, patient and, above all, unfailingly warm and kind. I unreservedly recommend Lap of Love for anyone who'd like their pet's final day to be one filled with love and compassion. Thank you, Dr. Jeni for helping Lucy's pain finally end."

"Dr Jeni..... It definitely was a difficult day, but you made our farewell peaceful. I honestly believe your beautiful energy, love, and pure compassion and kindness was the reason we were able to send our lil Blue off to her next life with joy in our hearts. Thank you for helping us help her transition from this life."

"Dr. Goedken helped me to fulfill my promise to Sherlock; that his passing would be peaceful and pain free. Dr. Goedken was compassionate and understanding; she explained each step of the process and I found this comforting. She provided the space for both Sherlock and I to come to terms with our decision and did not rush the process. As much as I felt grief at losing my best friend, I also felt relief that he was no longer in pain; his spirit was strong but his body was weak and compromised. His spirit is now free and I was able to deliver on my promises to him. Thank you, Dr. Goedken for helping both Sherlock and I through the end-stages of his life."

"Dear Dr Jeni,

Thank you for your warmth and tenderness yesterday. I am so glad she passed in my arms and I felt Her last heartbeat......You are a wonderful angel. I couldn’t have wished for a more compassionate woman to share those final moments with us."

"To Dr. Jeni - I wanted to thank you from the very bottom of my heart for making the process of saying goodbye so peaceful. As hard as it was, I’m so glad you were sent to us. You are an amazing angel and I will always remember your love and compassion. The world needs more people like you."

"I agree with all of the 5 star reviews for Dr. Jeni Goedken, I would give her 10 stars if possible. Our 15 year old Golden, Momo, suddenly took a turn for the worse, and we knew it was time to say good-bye. We didn't want her to suffer and we wanted to do it in our family home. We tried in vain to find someone who would come to the house. It was around 4 p.m. when we starting calling around with no luck, all the vets said they would come the next day which didn't help.

Then we got a call from Dr. Jeni, what a heaven sent! She came that evening with her wonderful and soothing disposition. We were all upset and crying, she took her time and made sure that Momo was comfortable every step of the way. She gave us plenty of time to say good-bye to our sweet girl.

Dr. Jeni is a lovely and compassionate person, I can't say enough how much we appreciated her in our time of need. She is truly the best!

Thank you Dr Jeni!"

“I first met Sherlock at the Humane Society of Marin County. When I opened the door to his cage, he stepped into my arms and placed each paw on either side of my neck and nuzzled me. That was the deciding factor. I said, "You know, you are coming home with me." At that time he was 1 year old and an 18-pound Maine Coon cat.

They say that ...

“Oh my sweet Leeloo, I miss you SO so much. You were my constant companion for most of my adult life. From heartaches and homework to marriage and moving, you were always by my side with your raspy meow and constant purr. I will desperately miss our morning routine of back rubs and face scratches and hanging out while I drank coffee and did yoga. I ...
