AFTERCARE PRICING

PRIVATE CREMATION
Pets up to 39 pounds$275
Pets 40 - 99 pounds$300
Pets 100 - 149 pounds$350
Pets 150 - 200 pounds$400

With this option, your pet is cremated privately at a licensed crematory. The ashes are contained in a lovely wooden urn with an engraved nameplate and will be returned to your primary care veterinarian within two weeks. They can also be made available directly from the crematory or mailed to you.

COMMUNAL CREMATION
Pets up to 39 pounds$125
Pets 40 - 99 pounds$175
Pets 100 - 149 pounds$225
Pets 150 - 200 pounds$275

This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered in a private location with no visitation.

ADDITIONAL AFTERCARE FEES

To best honor your personal space, our doctors do not arrive with a vet technician. Therefore, if your family has elected cremation for a pet over 30 pounds, we may ask your assistance moving your loved one after euthanasia has been performed.  If additional help is needed outside what is available in the home, we may request that the crematory come to assist us.  In this case, an additional fee will be needed to cover their charge.

AVAILABILITY

We are here to answer your questions every day, from 4 am - 8 pm. Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability.

Sometimes pets take a turn for the worse overnight or in a short amount of time, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice, but cannot guarantee that.

If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or one of the emergency clinics listed in the Local Resources section.

Dr. Jeni

Jeni Goedken

Growing up in the Chicago suburbs as the daughter of a veterinarian and nurse, compassion for animals and the art of medicine surrounded me. I knew from a young age that my life’s desire was to be a veterinarian. After obtaining my undergraduate degree in Biology, I remained at the University of Illinois and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine. Several years later, I moved to the San Jose area with my family.

Throughout my veterinary career, I have worked in a wide variety of disciplines.  I have been a general practitioner in a traditional clinical setting, a solo shelter veterinarian, a curriculum developer for a veterinary assistant program, a state veterinary board inspector and expert witness, and a house-call veterinarian.

When it was time for my beloved cat, Bogie, to gain his angel wings, I didn’t want to stress him out by bringing him into the clinic. Instead, I helped him pass in our backyard on a beautiful summer night on my husband’s lap, gobbling down as many treats as he wanted. While there is nothing that can take away the heartbreak of letting him go, I grieve with a feeling of serenity because I know I gave him a transition free from fear and anxiety.

I find it rewarding to guide families through providing comfort and quality of life to their pets in the security of their home. Giving a grieving pet parent a final peaceful memory of their loved one is a sacred honor. It is a privilege to witness the strongest instance of the human-animal bond during one of the most delicate moments of life.

Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending time with my husband, twin boys, and our spoiled rescue pug mix, Rufus. I have a passion for volunteering at the twins’ school and in our community. When I am not at the boys’ baseball field, you can find me cheering on both the Chicago and Bay Area sports teams.

"To Dr. Jeni - thank you so much for your kind words and for walking us through an impossible experience. We are enormously grateful for your patience, kindness, and consultation. We are forever indebted to you for making Whiskey's last moments calm and peaceful, in the comforts of her home, surrounded by her people. It's all we ever wanted for her, and we could not have done it without you."

"Dear Dr. Jeni...... I’m brokenhearted.

But...

I never would have believed that Maisie’s death could be a really beautiful experience, and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If only we all could go in such a way.

We all go into this knowing that this will happen, but it’s still tough. Thank you for making it more bearable — you made such a difference, and I appreciate it more than I can say. Thank you, thank you, thank you."

"Dr. Jeni helped me so much with my senior kitty Mittens. Even with all the pandemic preparations and all it was still a beautiful service done by her . Would definitely recommend or call her again if needed. Thank you so much!"

"Dr. Jeni...I just wanted to thank you again for your help with Lucy Lu’s end of life process. It was exactly what I had hoped to give her. Your calming compassion was appreciated more than my words could express!! So again thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving my sweet girl the send off she deserved after 18 years of unconditional love!!"

"Dear Dr. Jeni,

We can't thank you enough for your kindness and the time you spent with our family.

From the moment you arrived, you let us know it was okay for us to let go of our beloved girl- because it was finally time.

Chelsea and we were blessed to have you in our lives at this time and we will never forget that."

"We said goodbye to our beloved Barkley this past Saturday, May 9th. Barkley, or Mr. B as we fondly called him, was our best friend, our kiddo, our protector, and the absolute joy of our lives. He was so handsome (as I told him on a daily basis), sweet, smart and so entertaining. In his youth he was strong and active and we had many adventures together. Over the course of his life he tore both his ACLs, requiring surgery both times. Because of that, and coupled with normal aging, the past year or so of his life was at a much slower pace. But we still found other ways to enjoy our time together as a pack until it became apparent in recent weeks that Barkley was more than tired, and the decision we'd been dreading finally had to be made.

I could not be more thrilled that we made the call to Lap of Love and were blessed with the presence of Dr. Jeni. On one of the saddest days of our lives she was able to create a beautiful memory for us as we said goodbye to our sweet angel. If you are contemplating this next move for your pet I urge you to turn to Lap of Love. Offering the comfort of home versus a sterile clinic filled with anxiety is a blessing for both you and your pet. Thank you for everything, Dr. Jeni. We are so grateful. ♥"

“Our dearest Pai, you have brightened our lives for almost 11 years. From the moment we saw you, you captured our hearts. We knew from the moment that we first held you that the love you'll be sharing with us would be one the greatest loves of our lives... we did not imagine how much pain losing you would be... how empty our hearts would feel, and ...

“My beautiful boy crossed the rainbow bridge as I held him so tight. I wake up everyday with everything and anything reminding me of him. I am completely and utterly devastated. I am just so sad without him and I look for him in places he used to be and I cry cause he’s not there. He was so loyal, he would stand in the rain and wait for me to come ...

“I first met Sherlock at the Humane Society of Marin County. When I opened the door to his cage, he stepped into my arms and placed each paw on either side of my neck and nuzzled me. That was the deciding factor. I said, "You know, you are coming home with me." At that time he was 1 year old and an 18-pound Maine Coon cat.

They say that ...
