Dr. Nikki

Nikki Lynch

From as early as I can remember, my life has revolved around animals, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! They have been my passion and purpose, and I, their healer, advocate, and friend. As a little girl growing up in Long Island, NY I could be found rescuing orphaned wildlife, riding horses, or playing with my family’s menagerie of cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits, turtles, lizards, and frogs. I loved anything pertaining to science and the natural world, and often spent entire summer days collecting and studying specimens of leaves, bugs, seashells, rocks, and flowers, and jotting down notes about them in my little nature journal. I think I speak for all of my colleagues when I say that you don’t just choose a career in veterinary medicine; it chooses you.

In my years of practice as a general practitioner, I have found that one of the most important aspects of veterinary medicine is the human-animal bond. There is nothing more rewarding and sacred to me than being able to help families navigate the challenging and emotional waters of the end-of-life period. Being there to help families make difficult decisions, provide palliative care, and provide a peaceful and loving passing of their beloved pets, is my mission, and it’s an honor to fulfill.

When I’m not helping families and their fur babies, I enjoy hiking, oil painting, riding horses, seeing Broadway shows, and spending time with my husband, Sean and our baby son, James. We have 4 senior kitties: “Dinah”, “Georgie”, “Piper,” and “Squeak.”

"Your loving care for my Henry was such a huge help to my family. I don't think I have ever meant anyone with such a big heart as you. You were working under such difficult circumstances. Thank you for your immense kindness.

It will take me a long time to get over my sweet boy, Henry. He was that one in a million dogs. He will always be deeply embedded in my heart.

Your work helps so many and I thank you for being you. I will never forget you, Nikki.

Love to you,

Patty Hunter"

"Dr Nikki was so amazing, supportive, and kind during our most painful moments of letting our boy go. She was so gentle with him and helped us go through this journey with empathy and care. We are so appreciative to her."

"Hi Dr. Nikki,

I wanted to reach out and thank you for making the worst day of my life a little bit better. Having you come to our house to help us say goodbye to our Lucy was the best decision that we could have ever made. I am heartbroken, devastated, and not sure how life will ever feel happy again. The loss of my best friend is so much harder than I could ever have imagined...however the only thing that brings me peace is knowing that we helped her leave this world peacefully. You were amazing! I told my husband that you were like a living guardian angel. You were so kind, patient, and made us feel like we had the most special dog in the world (which we did!). I will forever hold you in my heart and be thankful that you came into our lives at the exact right time.

Thank you so much.

Megan Holbert"

"Dr. Nikki was an incredible comfort during a very difficult time for our entire family. Her kindness and sensitivity throughout this process is something we will not forget. The gift of being able to say goodbye to a beloved part of our family while being in the comfort of our home (and more importantly Mickey’s home) was extremely special and Lap of Love and Dr. Nikki are to thank for that."

"Dear Dr. Nikki,

I can't express enough how grateful I am to have had such a wonderful experience with you. I felt so much love from everyone that I spoke with yesterday. It was a long exhausting day for me and my husband and he made it home safely just in time to say goodbye to Mandy. I feel blessed that I was in a position to give her such a wonderful goodbye. She was loved so deeply and will be missed by many that knew her. Thank you again for all your support and a beautiful chance to say goodbye to her in the comfort of her own home.

Sincerely,

Melissa & Jack Violette"

"I could not believe the support they gave me during the process. I felt so comfortable through the entire day with the comfort I was given. If I had to go through this again or when I have to I will definitely be reaching out to you again. I still have her sister that is just 5 years old and hope she lives a long time. But when the day does come I certainly hope Lap Of Love is still around. "
