With this option, your pet is cremated privately at a licensed crematory. The ashes are contained in a lovely wooden urn with an engraved nameplate and will be returned to your primary care veterinarian within two weeks. They can also be made available directly from the crematory or mailed to you.
This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered on a private sunflower farm.
There may be a fee if additional assistance to safely carry your pet out of your home is needed.
We are here to answer your questions every day, from 7am - 11pm. Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability.
Sometimes, pets take a turn for the worse overnight, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice when possible.
If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or one of the emergency clinics listed in the Local Resources section.
Let us introduce you to the amazing hospice veterinarians in your area.
Allison Reynolds, DVM
I grew up in a small town in Kentucky, surrounded by dogs, cats, horses, and various other pets. My love for animals and science made veterinary medicine an obvious choice for me. I graduated from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016, and moved back to Kentucky with my husband and two dogs, Emma and Indy. Immediately after graduation, I worked with dogs and cats in Emergency Medicine where I saw a lot of unplanned euthanasias, as well as patients that passed in the hospital without their family present. For me, being there for these pets, as well as their owners, in this emotional time became one of the most important parts of my job. I’ll always remember when I lost my first pet, an Australian shepherd named Patches. We had grown up together I thought that life could never be the same without her. Even though I was only 10 at the time, I knew I needed to be with her when she passed. Now, as an adult and a veterinarian, I feel that the greatest gift that we can bestow upon our beloved pets is to give them a peaceful transition when their time with us is at an end.
Our pets bring so much joy and love into a household, and euthanizing a pet can be one of the most difficult times in a family’s life. I feel blessed to be able to offer in home hospice and euthanasia services that allow our cherished pets to pass peacefully in the comfort of home with the people they love.
About Allison Reynolds, DVM
"Thank you so much for offering such a comforting service as Lap of Love. Dr Reynolds was prompt, warm and very professional. She took the time to let my pup, Cheyenne, get comfortable with her being there. After a bit Cheyenne went to her bed and quietly, calmly and peacefully went to her long sleep. I wish I knew about this service before. Cheyenne always hated car rides, so the thought of loading her in the car for her final trip was just not something I was looking forward to attempting, thankfully I didn't have to."

"I would really like to thank Dr. Reynolds for the work she has completed today. She came by, and didn't just do her job but comforted us while she was putting down two of our dogs, Goliath & Jo. I appreciate her compassion, she is such a sweet girl. Thank you Lap Of Love, it was great service, in such a sad time."

"My baby girl, Nana, was diagnosed with liver cancer. Her decline was extremely fast. Within 3 days of diagnosed, she went from being able to walk around to be bed ridden and having seizures. We couldn't let her suffer. We already reached out to a vet who makes house calls but she was not available on weekends. Fortunately I found Lap of Love. Their prices where reasonable and they even made arrangements for her cremation. I called them and I heard a kind, sympathetic voice from Jennifer who listen to me sob to make arrangements. I had to call them back after she had a 2nd horrible seizure to let them know they can come earlier than the scheduled time. Dr. Allison was at my home within 30 minutes to make Nana comfortable. Her calming, emphatic voice and understanding made us know we made the right decision. Even after she passed she let us take all the time we needed to say our good byes. Even kindly taking our request and requesting the crematorium wait for us to be there so we can put flowers and her favorite toy with her. I know her spirit already crossed the rainbow bridge but letting us do this is a great comfort for my mom. Tomorrow she will be cremated and we will bring her home thanks to Lap of Love."
