With this option, your pet is cremated privately at a licensed crematory. The ashes are contained in a lovely wooden urn and will be returned to your primary care veterinarian within two weeks. They can also be made available directly from the crematory or mailed to you.
This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered by the crematory in a memory garden on their property.
There may be a fee if additional assistance to safely carry your pet out of your home is needed.
We are here to answer your questions every day, from 8am - 8pm. Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability.
Sometimes, pets take a turn for the worse overnight, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice when possible.
If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or one of the emergency clinics listed in the Local Resources section.
Let us introduce you to the amazing hospice veterinarians in your area.
Carly Billeaudeau, DVM
At the bold age of 5 years old, I informed my mother that I was going to be a veterinarian, and I have never looked back. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else! I was born and raised in Monroe, a small town in northeast Louisiana, where I grew up with a myriad of pets.
I attended Louisiana State University for both my undergrad and veterinary school. After I graduated in 2008, I began working in a small animal private practice. I am currently living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with my husband, our three small children, and our two furry children.
Working in private practice, I began to recognize the need for end-of-life care for our pets. I realized that many people feel uncomfortable about knowing when it’s "the right time” or not. No one wants to say goodbye, but no one wants to allow their pet to suffer either. When my beloved pet, Sophie, was diagnosed with a brain tumor, I was devastated. When "that time" arrived, I said goodbye to her in our home with her snuggled in my lap. It was terribly sad, but it was peaceful and loving, and she deserved that. It made me realize that this was the kind of experience that I wanted for all of my clients and patients. Everyone deserves a peaceful goodbye, full of grace and dignity.

"What a blessing it was to have Dr. Carly Billeaudeau help us say good-bye to our beloved cat Julie, our beautiful, sweet 18-year-old baby. It was a dreaded decision but having the choice of letting her go at home was such a better option than having to take her in the car to the vet which was always traumatic for her, or having an emergency situation in the middle of the night. We were able to cuddle and kiss on her in a grassy spot under our big shade tree on a beautiful sunny day. So peaceful and perfect. Dr. Carly is extraordinary-- patient, kind, and compassionate beyond my expectations. And appreciated more than I can express in words. The website was so informative and easy to understand, it was a great resource when I really needed it. Thank you so much!!"

"We knew Muffin was in pain and the time had finally come when we had to let her go. I feel so blessed to have come upon this website and to be able to meet such a wonderful angel named Dr. Carly Billeaudeau. She was so understanding and has such a kind, soothing voice. She made us feel so at ease with Muffin’s passing. The atmosphere was so peaceful and calm as we all sat with Muffin on the couch and said our goodbyes. Having her with us for almost 18 years made it that much more difficult to let her go. I can’t thank Dr. Carly enough for being that someone who took a dreaded experience and making it something that we will now cherish in our hearts forever. Kudos to Dr. Carly. U are one of a kind!!!!"

"Once again, our family would like to express our deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Carly. Her professionalism, tenderness, and compassion towards our beloved pets and to our family is appreciated more than she will know. During such difficult times, she has been peace, comfort, and hope. Not only was our beloved Chloe treated with dignity, Dr. Carly was thoughtful and caring to our daughters, Meghan and Hannah, and to our remaining furry son, Bear. Thank you, Dr. Carly, for your kindness and compassion."

"Dr. Carly is truly an angel on earth. The decision to euthanize our sweet kitty, Oreo, was a very difficult one, to say the least. Although I knew deep in my heat that it was for the best, I agonized about it each and every day prior to our visit from the doctor. My husband and I cannot say enough about Dr. Carly; a beautiful lady with a heart to match, we found her to be both professional and personal. She patiently sat with us and listened to our story, then took our precious Oreo on his journey across the Forever Bridge. We will have pets for as long as we're able, and I will never think twice about calling Dr. Carly when the time arises again. Although none of us want to face this heartbreaking experience, we know it's inevitable. I thank God for Dr. Carly and the fact that Oreo crossed over without even a wince of pain. God Bless you and all others that care so much for our furbabies, Dr. Carly!"
