Meet The Doctor

Courtney Brookens Graham, DVM

I grew up in a dog and cat-loving family in Metamora, Michigan.  After graduating from high school, I attended Michigan State University for both my undergraduate and veterinary medicine degree, which I attained in 2000.  I have been practicing in the Rochester area for nearly my entire veterinary career.  My husband and I, along with our son and daughter, share our home with a mischievous little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chief, and our "misunderstood" cat, Sarah.

During my last year of veterinary school, I adopted a tiny little black kitten, who had been found on the streets of Lansing and brought to the veterinary teaching hospital at MSU.  I named him Simon, and he quickly ingrained himself into my life, growing up to be a big handsome boy.  He was there for me through thick and thin, from vet school graduation to meeting my husband, getting married, and having my two beautiful children.  He never once complained about the new dog, the new cat, having to move, or the babies that would pull at his fur.  His love was unconditional.  When I realized that his time on this earth was nearing its conclusion, I knew that he would want to be at home with me.  Even though it was extremely heartbreaking, I performed his euthanasia at home, and I knew that this was the final act of love that I could give to my Simon.

I feel there is no greater gift that I can give to my clients than a peaceful goodbye for their beloved pet.  I am honored to be able to offer in-home hospice and euthanasia services.  By allowing my patients to remain in the comfort of their homes and with their families around them, I can help to ensure a calm and pain free transition when their time here is at an end.  The death of a pet is devastating, but I pledge to treat your pet with as much care as I would my own.

Dr. Courtney is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association as well as a member of the International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care.

"Dr. Courtney was wonderful. She was great with Raisin and also our other dogs as we kept them near Raisin as she passed. Dr. Courtney gave me all the time I needed to say goodbye to my sweet girl. She was very professional but also so personable to us. She has such a kind soul and I know she took the best care of my sweet pup."

Michelle Michael
Ortonville, Michigan

"I can not say enough about just how great Dr. Courtney was. She took her time with us, there was no rush to do what needed to be done, and she was very comforting. Everything was handled for us (Faithful Companions), allowing us to just concentrate on our time with Max. We would not hesitate to call her again, if unfortunately we had the need to do so."

William Bogan
Clarkston, Michigan

"Courtney was wonderful. She was very polite, respectful, and professional when she visited my home to help my female dog out of her pain. I have a male dog as well who likes to bark, and he has intimidated other professionals. But Courtney obviously has the experience to be relaxed in these situations, and had him licking her hand in a minute! As a woman who works with horses, I can tell you animals know people...and Courtney is one of the good ones...Thank you from the Hagys"

Chris Hagy
Burton, Michigan

"Courtney was very kind and caring. We struggled to let him go, but knew his quality of life was declining. She helped to make his passing peaceful and dignified. He deserved the absolute best and not to suffer."

Jacqueline Basone
Shelby Township, Michigan

"Dr. Graham was exceptional and caring of not only Jazmyn, but for my wife and I as well. When she arrived, Jazmyn was actually sleeping, which allowed her to unpack and prepare us all. Jazmyn's passing could not have been more peaceful, she sighed once and crossed the bridge, she was ready to leave her aches and pains behind and move on. I can't even say what this was worth, for this to happen at home where she was most comfortable, was the best we could do for her. We love her and our home is empty without her, but her memories will heal our hearts."

Brian Monticue
Mount Clemens, Michigan

"Our sweet boy Zep crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. Our love for him was like no other. He was the love of our lives. He showed us what true love was. It was a honor to me his mom. Grateful I am. There are no words strong enough to thank Dr Courtney Graham. Her kindness blew us away. She made a very hard moment into one of the most beautiful . Her soft voice will be something I will never forget. There was a reason our paths crossed. She is truly amazing and we could never thank her enough. We will miss our sweet boy dearly but we know he`s running free of pain . Till we meet again. Love remains !"

“What do you say about the dog of your lifetime except farewell my friend ...see you again. Here is a poem I wrote for another dog I lost years ago, but is so fitting of many dogs I think: SEE YOU AGAIN ...The Spirit of a child, but with instinct and cunning...Heart of a golden huntress...Eyes of Eternal Love and Forgiveness...Ears that heard ...
