AFTERCARE PRICING

PRIVATE CREMATION
Pets up to 49 pounds$245
Pets 50 - 99 pounds$275
Pets 100 - 149 pounds$300
Pets 150 - 200 pounds$375

With this option, your pet is cremated privately at a licensed crematory. The ashes are contained in a lovely wooden urn with an engraved nameplate and will be returned to your primary care veterinarian within two weeks. They can also be made available directly from the crematory or mailed to you.

COMMUNAL CREMATION
Pets up to 49 pounds$150
Pets 50 - 99 pounds$175
Pets 100 - 149 pounds$225
Pets 150 - 200 pounds$255

This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered by the crematory in a pet cemetery.

ADDITIONAL AFTERCARE FEES

To best honor your personal space, our doctors do not arrive with a vet technician.  Therefore, if your family has elected cremation for a pet over 30 pounds, we may ask your assistance moving your loved one after euthanasia has been performed.  If additional help is needed outside what is available in the home, we may request that the crematory come to assist us.  In this case, an additional fee will be needed to cover their charge.

AVAILABILITY
We are here to answer your questions every day, from 7am - 11pm. Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability.

Sometimes pets take a turn for the worse overnight or in a short amount of time, so we do our best to accommodate same day appointments with a few hours notice, but cannot guarantee that.

If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or one of the emergency clinics listed in the Local Resources section.

Dr. Mandi

Mandi Beckmann

There was never any doubt in my mind that I wanted to become a veterinarian and that has always been thanks to the incredible bonds I was lucky enough to form with some amazing animals. I grew up on a small hobby farm in Minnesota surrounded by a menagerie of animals: dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, horses… the list goes on!

With my mom’s help and support, I spent my teenage years fostering rescue dogs. Over time, a few of those dogs found their forever home with us. Peaches was a senior pitty who had a really rough start in life. As soon as she came home with us, we all knew (Peaches included) that she had finally found her forever safe place. Miss Peaches spent four years with us and helped raise puppies while always remaining the sweet yet authoritative boss of the household. She was such a blessing in our family, and at the end of her life, we were able to say goodbye in the comfort of our home with the help of our family’s veterinarian. I am thankful beyond words that she could pass peacefully in the place where she knew she was safe and loved, after all those years and her storied past. I keep her tags on my keychain as a reminder that the incredible bond we shared will never be gone. That bond, and others like it, shaped my views as I began my professional career and today it fuels my love for this work.

After graduating from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, I completed an internship with an equine veterinary practice. I have a wide variety of interests including ophthalmology, reproduction medicine, and neonatology. However, my favorite thing about being a veterinarian is having the privilege to connect with and care for people and their beloved pets. In my eyes, there are few ways to better honor the beauty of the human-animal bond than through the gift we provide at Lap of Love. Giving your beloved pet a peaceful passing is an incredible gift and one that I’m humbled to be able to provide. I truly am honored to be there for you during this delicate time.

"Dr. Mandi Beckmann made what would have been an otherwise just horrible day, a memorable (sad yet sweet) experience. She reassured us we were doing the right thing, gave us tissues as we cried and hugs after, and treated our beloved Peppy with utter and total respect. I can't say enough about her and this service from Lap of Love. It made all the difference in saying goodbye.

"Dr Mandi, Tonight we said goodbye to a much loved family member. Thank you for your service. Cuddles died in his bed, in his home, with his family and he was not afraid. We will miss him forever."

"Dr. Mandi in a word was amazing. She helped me come to the decision before Mia suffered more or lost anymore dignity. She assured me that what we were doing was the right choice. She calmly walked me through what the steps would be and performed them with a professionalism and warmth that calmed both Mia and me. Afterwards she hugged me and cried with me. She got me paw prints and a lock of Mia’s hair that I will treasure forever. Mia and I were lucky to have her."

"Thank you Dr. Mandi.

You made an awful day less awful. You are exactly who these testimonials say you are. Compassionate and professional. The way you cared for my 18 year old Bichon and helped him pass on without suffering was a small miracle. You are a gift to Rochester."

"We would like to thank Dr. Mandi Beckmann and the support staff of Lap of Love, to help us through one of the most difficult times of our lives. Our beloved dog, Henry of 13 years, was the main stay of our family and truly loved. Dr. Mandi was a blessing in disguise to guide us through this process from the minute she arrived on Friday, September 27th 2019. Her compassionate heart and understanding of our feelings made our last moments with Henry as beautiful and loving as our lifetime together. There are no words to describe how much we appreciate and are thankful of Dr. Mandi. She is a angel on earth as Henry is in heaven. Love, the Wells Family"

“Mia,

The house is emptier without you.You aren’t there to greet me when I get home, staring at me through the window from the perch you judge the neighbors from. You aren’t there to meow at me in your sassy way until I fill your bowl and sit down for you jump into my lap.You aren’t there to watch TV with me as I unwind from work and tell you ...

“I miss my little faithful friend
who closed his eyes last night
as I wiped way my flowing tears
and held him really tight

He was my therapist - my confidant
whom I spoke to every day
And I know that I could rely on him
in every little way

He always listened without judging
and never repeated what I said
and all he asked for in ...
