ADDITIONAL AFTERCARE FEES

To best honor your personal space, our doctors do not arrive with a vet technician.  Therefore, if your family has elected cremation for a pet over 30 pounds, we may ask your assistance moving your loved one after euthanasia has been performed.  If additional help is needed outside what is available in the home, we may request that the crematory come to assist us.  In this case, an additional fee will be needed to cover their charge.

Dr. Mandi

Mandi Beckmann

There was never any doubt in my mind that I wanted to become a veterinarian and that has always been thanks to the incredible bonds I was lucky enough to form with some amazing animals. I grew up on a small hobby farm in Minnesota surrounded by a menagerie of animals: dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, horses… the list goes on!

With my mom’s help and support, I spent my teenage years fostering rescue dogs. Over time, a few of those dogs found their forever home with us. Peaches was a senior pitty who had a really rough start in life. As soon as she came home with us, we all knew (Peaches included) that she had finally found her forever safe place. Miss Peaches spent four years with us and helped raise puppies while always remaining the sweet yet authoritative boss of the household. She was such a blessing in our family, and at the end of her life, we were able to say goodbye in the comfort of our home with the help of our family’s veterinarian. I am thankful beyond words that she could pass peacefully in the place where she knew she was safe and loved, after all those years and her storied past. I keep her tags on my keychain as a reminder that the incredible bond we shared will never be gone. That bond, and others like it, shaped my views as I began my professional career and today it fuels my love for this work.

After graduating from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, I completed an internship with an equine veterinary practice. I have a wide variety of interests including ophthalmology, reproduction medicine, and neonatology. However, my favorite thing about being a veterinarian is having the privilege to connect with and care for people and their beloved pets. In my eyes, there are few ways to better honor the beauty of the human-animal bond than through the gift we provide at Lap of Love. Giving your beloved pet a peaceful passing is an incredible gift and one that I’m humbled to be able to provide. I truly am honored to be there for you during this delicate time.

"Eleanor was with us for almost 15 years and gave so much pure love our lives. We knew it was time to assist her in passing but making that choice for her was gut wrenching. My hesitation in using Lap of Love was that we wouldn’t know the Vet who would be coming to our home for this very private and intimate moment. Reading the other testimonials here helped me to feel comfortable. As soon as Dr. Mandi greeted us I began to sob. Her compassion and empathy were so beautiful. Dr. Mandi was patient, loving, gentle and is an angel for the service and love she provided to us and Eleanor. Eleanor was always very intuitive. Before we made the decision, she did not have a good night and was very restless that morning. She would not settle down and would not eat. My partner and I knew it was time and as soon as we made the call to Lap of Love, Eleanor settled into her bed and was the calmest I have seen her in weeks. She was ready. Eleanor laid in her bed in front of a fan, with the windows open and dappled light coming in—there was a great sense of peace coming from her. Because of Lap of Love, we have that memory of her being peaceful in her home where she was always kept safe and loved. The thought of bringing her to a vet for her final moments, a place she was always scared of was just not an option. Dr. Mandi explained the entire process and was so loving towards Eleanor. Her passing was handled with dignity and love and we are deeply grateful. We are devasted by the loss of such a beloved family member but also grateful for Lap of Love and Dr. Mandi who helped make this experience peaceful and respectful for Eleanor and us. Our hearts have been forever changed by the love Eleanor gave us. Dr. Mandi helped to ensure our final moments with her in this life were precious and meaningful."

"Dear Lap of Love, and especially Dr. Mandi Beckmann, We are so thankful for your service and for the kindness and care, along with the attention to detail, that Dr. Mandi provided to us yesterday, August 9, when she came to our house in Webster to euthanize our little girl Myrtie. She was our last kitty (we started out with five when we got married and merged our households), and although she was technically my husband’s cat, I loved her with all my heart. She was one of the sweetest, most affectionate little cats I've ever met. We knew this past Saturday that Myrtie was declining rapidly, but when I called our own vet, Cats & Critters in Rochester, they were solidly booked and couldn’t give us an appointment. It was the same with Doorbell Vets, which I learned also doesn’t offer Sunday appointments. Thankfully, our vet suggested Lap of Love and gave me your phone number. I was so relieved that Dr. Mandi be here this past Sunday. After Myrtie was at peace, we brought her to property we own in Mendon, where we dug a grave for her up on a hill, surrounded by trees and birds, and where we can visit her whenever we’re there. Your service is incredible, and despite how sad we were to say good-bye to Myrtie, our experience couldn’t have been better—from my conversation with wonderful Nicole on the phone, to her follow-up email with excellent and helpful guidelines and suggestions, and to Dr. Mandi’s visit to our home. Please use any or all of my email as a testimonial for your services. We thank you so much and will tell our pet-loving friends about Lap of Love. We are in awe of your ability to care for people and their pets in this way—peacefully, and with such love and respect. With deep gratitude, "

"My beloved cat Smudge is now free of pain and is at peace. This picture of Smudge is napping in one of his favorite spots.

Dr. Mandi was very kind and compassionate.

She explained what was going to happen. Smudge was relaxed on my bed within his own surroundings

making our goodbyes very personal.

Dr. Mandi, thank you so much for making our final time together peaceful."

"Dr. Mandi was so kind, compassionate and gentle with Fred. She greeted both dogs and me with a calm presence and reassured me that I was making the right decision for Fred. She explained the process clearly, Fred and Lola enjoyed several treats and then she proceeded to administer the medications when we were ready. I am so thankful that Fred had a good morning that day and was given the gift of crossing the rainbow bridge in the comfort of his favorite bed.

Thank you Dr. Mandi for providing this invaluable service for our family."

“Mika was the most beautiful cat, with a heart and soul to match. Everyone that met her fell in love with her right away. She was full of spunk, pride, and compassion. We will miss her chirps and her 2 am zoomies, and the snuggles anywhere we sat. We will never forget her little quirks that made each day special. Mika was the perfect addition to ...

“This is our baby boy Weezer. He lived for 18 plus years, but still not long enough. He was not a dog, but our baby. He made our lives complete and filled our hearts with love and joy. He recently became ill, and we sadly knew his time had come. We had to be unselfish and think of him and decided to let him pass over the Rainbow Bridge. It was ...

“Cocoa Bean was our treasure. We adopted her from a rescue group in 2006. She was a true “water girl” who spent most of her time lounging in and near the creek on our property. We miss you our beautiful girl❤️”
