AFTERCARE PRICING

PRIVATE CREMATION
Pets up to 39 pounds$275
Pets 40 - 99 pounds$300
Pets 100 - 200 pounds$400

With this option, your pet is cremated privately at a licensed crematory. The ashes are contained in a lovely wooden urn with an engraved nameplate and will be returned to your primary care veterinarian within two weeks. They can also be made available directly from the crematory or mailed to you.

COMMUNAL CREMATION
Pets up to 39 pounds$150
Pets 40 - 99 pounds$200
Pets 100 - 200 pounds$300

This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are scattered in a pet cemetery.

ADDITIONAL AFTERCARE FEES

To best honor your personal space, our doctors do not arrive with a vet technician.  Therefore, if your family has elected cremation for a pet over 30 pounds, we may ask your assistance moving your loved one after euthanasia has been performed.  If additional help is needed outside what is available in the home, we may request that the crematory come to assist us.  In this case, an additional fee will be needed to cover their charge.

Meet The Doctor
Let us introduce you to the amazing hospice veterinarian in your area!

Dr. Sarah

Sarah Ryan, DVM

I grew up out in the country in a suburb of Dayton, where I enjoyed the companionship of a dog, many outdoor cats, and a few hamsters throughout my childhood. My deep love of pets and my desire to serve the community inspired me to become a veterinarian. I earned my bachelor's degree in Biology and Pre-Veterinary Sciences from the University of Findlay and my doctorate from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, I focused on small animal companion general medicine and surgery at Banfield Pet Hospital.

Being able to build a bond with families in their time of need and help ease their loved one’s pain is a privilege to me and I’m honored to have the opportunity to expand Lap of Love's services to our community. I currently have two golden retrievers and three guinea pigs. Turner, my male golden, was rescued as a puppy and was named after the Atlanta Brave's baseball stadium. Taylor, my female golden, is named after Taylor Swift.  My guinea pigs are named Pooh Bear, Junebug, and Wookie. In my free time, I enjoy traveling and in 2017, I visited Thailand and the world-famous Elephant Nature Park.

"Dr. Ryan was absolutely amazing ❤️ She reassured us several times that we were making the right decision for our baby!! This is not a decision I would wish on anyone to have to make! Dr. Ryan was very good with Bacardi she made a very difficult situation to become a beautiful good buy to our General Giant!! Thank you, Dr. Ryan, for the love and support you showed even though you really didn’t know us ❤️ Your compassion was very much appreciated ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️"

"Dear Dr Sarah Ryan Thank you for giving our AvaMarie a painless, beautiful and gentle death. Thank you for your supportive guidance though this difficult decision. Thank you for your touching words, thoughts and notes after AvaMarie's death. Thank you for staying close to us and for making sure we were okay. Thank you for your beautiful card and the "Pawprints" poem. Thank you for caring so much about Ava and us. AvaMarie meant the world to us and everything your did for us and said to us during this difficult time was thoughtful and kind. We know Ava was ‘just’ a dog; but, to us she was our hearts. Thank you for understanding and for treating us gently. There are a million quotes about grief, I stole this one from Vicki Harrison ~ because this is the way we feel about losing our AvaMarie. “Grief is like the ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim.” – Vicki Harrison Thank you Dr Sarah Ryan. Thank you Lap of Love. "

"Dr. Ryan,

I meant to contact you sooner; however, every time I sat down to write to you, my emotions got the better of me and I had to stop. I 'think' I'm more in control now …. or at least a little more in control.

Dear Sarah, thank you one million times for your kindness and compassion. Your whole peaceful disposition made us calm, including Ava. You helped all of us get through Ava's euthanasia without completely falling to pieces. We've been sharing our experience with family and friends and have expressed how we felt before, during and after we let AvaMarie go to a safer place. You made this very difficult time in our lives precious and something that we want to remember forever ~versus~ something so painful that we want to forget it. Thank you for the suggestion to share Ava's life with a Memorial ..... she is worth remembering.

You're right, we desperately love our animals. In fact, there's a joke in my family that is told often: "The next best thing to heaven would be to be reincarnated as one of Mava's & Charlie's animals." We try very hard to make sure their lives are as happy and as healthy as the joy and love that they bring into ours. It's such a little thing; but, it's such an important thing to us.

Our home seems MUCH emptier. Poor Brownie appears to keep looking for Ava. Although, we're trying console him ~ he just keeps looking for her. It's sad to watch. I knew they were close, but I didn't realize just how much until now.

Thank you again for coming so far to help us. Thank you for coming into our lives when we needed you. Thank you for being special, generous, compassionate and kind.

Thank you,

MavaMarie & Charlie Vandervennet"

"Dr. Sarah was so great! Our sweet Diesel passed on his own shortly before she arrived. She was so kind and understanding about our grieving. She helped to give us strength to get through this time. She took care of the cremation arrangements and took good care of our sweet boy to get him there. She was a light in one of the hardest days of our lives."

“Diesel was our Big Buddy. He was such a gentle soul. As big as he was, he let the little dogs boss him around. His sweet eyes felt like they could see right into your soul. You could see all the love in the world when you looked into his. He loved playing ball and chewing on sticks. He would even tear up trees if you let him. In his older years he ...
