With this option, your pet is cremated privately at a licensed crematory. The ashes are contained in a lovely wooden urn with an engraved nameplate and will be returned to your primary care veterinarian within two weeks. They can also be made available directly from the crematory or mailed to you.

Communal Cremation
Pets up to 39 pounds$125
Pets 40 - 99 pounds$150
Pets 100 - 149 pounds$175
Pets 150 pounds or more will be quoted

This option is for families that don't wish to have their pet's ashes returned nor wish to bury at home. Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets at a licensed crematory and ashes are buried on private land.

Additional Aftercare Fees

To best honor your personal space, our doctors do not arrive with a vet technician.  Therefore, if your family has elected cremation for a pet over 30 pounds, we may ask your assistance moving your loved one after euthanasia has been performed.  If no additional help is available from friends or family to move your pet, please let our team know so that we can schedule appropriately.  The most important thing is that your loved one does not suffer, arrangements for assistance with cremation can be made at a later time.

Dr. Allie

Allie Prokop, DVM

Even before entering the veterinary field, I felt the strength of the human-animal bond. Our first family dog, Becca, was a gentle giant of a Boxer who graced us with many fun, loving, selfless years. My favorite memories of her include her wrestling us as children to tickle our faces with her muzzle, sledding with her at our home in Massachusetts, and when she came home leading a hiker who had been lost in our woods. When she passed, I remember the void that was left behind in her place, and I was so grateful to have such wonderful memories to keep with me in her absence.

Becca was one of many reasons I pursued a career in veterinary medicine. After attending Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine, I followed my passion to the University of Tennessee to complete an internship in Equine Field Service. It was at my first job, a mixed animal practice in Oregon, that I gained a true appreciation of the importance of at home end of life care. What an honor it is to be able to give my patients a peaceful passing in their own homes, surrounded by their loving families. It is a privilege to provide this service and bring comfort to such grateful families in their time of need.

I am so glad to be back in Tennessee, and I look forward to helping families in and around Knoxville. When not working, I enjoy travelling, hiking in the Smokies, watching the Vols, and spending time at home with my kitties.

"Dr. Allie was the sweetest person to go through this terrible moment with. Such a sweet and caring person. I’m so glad I found her."

Tania McCarter
Sevierville, Tennessee

"When Dr. Allie came into our home, it was as if she had been our friend and neighbor for years. She was engaging with our other pets, but her kindness and gentleness with Zack was remarkable. She sat with us on the floor loving on him and listening to our memories. She was patient, extremely prepared (she had hair clippers, pee pads, and treats, in addition to her medical supplies), and the ultimate professional, without being stiff. She made the moment all about Zack and making him comfortable. We have been and will continue to recommend Dr. Allie and Lap of Love."

Terri Savage
Knoxville, Tennessee

"I would highly recommend Dr. Allie. She was professional but also personal with Hank. She made the hard day a little easier."

Lisa Henry
Friendsville, Tennessee

"So glad Lap of Love came up in my google search. I didn’t want to put stress on Banjie, so this service was so wonderful in a hard time by providing in our home."

Amy Feser
Knoxville, Tennessee

"Dr. Allie took wonderful care of our Jubilee. She was kind, caring, and compassionate during a heartbreaking time for us. We are so grateful for her loving nature."

Brooke Hamby
Knoxville, Tennessee

"Dr. Allie was absolutely wonderful. She took the time to look at Kiri's labs and to assure me I was doing the right thing, that it was time (she had renal failure and hadn't eaten in 3 days).

She spent a lot of time with me, helping me as I grieved before Kiri was euthanized and afterwards. I can't imagine doing her job. Her attitude was a comfort. She was incredibly compassionate.

I know I'll have pets that will need her help at some point and I hope she will still be available to help me through it.

I can't thank you enough Dr. Allie"

“Words still are hard to come by after losing my boy of 15 years! He was with me through break ups and new loves. He was there when I lost my parents and I could never ask for a better companion with so much love to give. I miss him terribly but know he is healthy once again and swimming with the big dogs...”

“Jubilee, You were my steadfast companion through troubling times and wonderful new beginnings. We adopted you knowing what a sweet wonderful soul you were but not knowing all the health challenges that you would face. Together, you and me, we faced those challenges. As our family grew, you loved US all and we loved you. We cherish all the memories ...
