Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Cabell"I lost my beloved 10 year old Rottweiler Blitz on 12/15/19...he was suffering from cancer and was very weak, and I knew it was time for him to cross the Rainbow Bridge...I was not able to get him downstairs and into a car to go to a vet...I called Lap of Love and immediately was helped by compassionate and caring staff who explained the process to me, and were able to get me a visit with a veterinarian within a few hours....Dr Shannon Cabell was loving, professional and caring, and explained the whole process as she went along, and it was truly a blessing to have such wonderful people supporting me during my boy's last moments...he was able to be in his home environment with family, and we were given a paw print and a lock of his fur., as well as support materials on how to deal with loss of a pet, and they arranged the cremation and had ashes delivered right to my vet's office...everything was handled with love and care, and I would highly recommend Lap of Love to anyone with a terminally ill pet, or simply if you want your pet to spend its final moments at home surrounded by family and friends"gina shawFreeholdDecember 27, 2019

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Cabell"Dr. Cabell,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful email. Thank you even more for the wonderfully caring way you helped Henry ease his way across the rainbow bridge. It felt awful to me, but I could tell how peaceful he was, and that made me very happy. I have absolutely no idea how you get through each day seeing the pain in people as they say goodbye to beloved pets, but I am grateful that there are people like you in the world who have the strength and fortitude to help our babies find peace and comfort as they pass on.

I truly appreciate you reaching out to check in on me. I have been truly humbled by this experience and the caring of everyone who knows about Henry’s passing. Anyone who knows me knows that Henry was my best friend and companion for all but the first 4 months of his long life, so this loss is exceptionally hard to take, but has been made much easier by the caring of friends, family, and you as well.

Thank you again for being with us on Sunday."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Cabell"From Saturday night to Sunday morning our sweet pup Sadie took a turn for the worse. We knew we only had a few weeks left but that morning we knew it was time. In desperation I searched the internet to find a vet who would come to the house. We did not want her to be anxious or fearful, so taking her to an emergency vet was out of the question. I found Lap of Love and we called at 10:30am and Dr. Cabell arrived at 1pm. (Exactly the time we were told she would be there.) She was kind, compassionate and explained every step that would be taken to assure Sadie would pass peacefully surrounded by her family.
True to her word, my sweet baby was on the couch in her favorite spot, surrounded by her family and not fearful. It was one of the hardest things to do. Letting go of a beloved pet whom had our hearts for 12 plus years is beyond hurt. The last gift we could give her was to die with peace and respect and Dr. Cabell helped us give her that gift. Dr. Cabell will forever have our gratitude. Lap of Love is such a wonderful organization that is comprised of very special Vets who help our beloved companions to the Rainbow Bridge and we the families survive the saddest moment. Thank you"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Cabell"I called Lap of Love on 9/11/19 @ 7am when we had to make the difficult decision to let Oliver go. They were very compassionate and we were lucky to have Dr. Cabell at our house by 9:30am same day. We had been through this twice before so we knew the process but this was the first time at home. It was very peaceful and would highly recommend for anyone whose dog is uncomfortable being at the vet. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Cabell. She gave us the most peaceful send off for our dog and that in itself is priceless."Caroline MuhindiHightstownSeptember 29, 2019Oliver's Pet Memorial

Thank you so much for everything you have done for me, my family, and, most of all, Amigo. You made an extremely difficult situation go the best it possibly could have and I am eternally grateful to you for that. I am so glad that Amigo got to leave us in his yard with all of us around him on a sunshiny day. You helped make his last moments on this Earth peaceful and loving. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Cabell"Dear Dr. Cabell,

We would very much like to express our sincere appreciation for the excellent care you provided to our precious little girl, Sandy, and to us, the grieving parents.

Your gentle care with our Sandy, and concern for us and our two other dogs was extremely comforting at this difficult time.

As we mentioned during your visit, we struggled with this decision as Sandy had her good days and her bad days. We always tried to make her as comfortable as possible, adapting our home to whatever was best for Sandy.

We are greatly relieved now that Sandy is at peace having joined her biological brother, Tiger, who left us in December.

You and your team are truly angels sent by God to assist people with this difficult decision. We are forever grateful that Sandy was able to be comfortable in her own home for her last moments.

May God Bless You and all those you love.

With kindest regards,
Karen & Steve Bessel"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Cabell"Dr. Cabell couldn't be more professional or more compassionate and I would never allow any beloved pet to go through the end of life in any other way than the way I witnessed Casper go. It was so peaceful and stress free for him. He did not know what happened because he didn't have to go to a cold scary doctor's office while already suffering the effects of his terminal disease."heather learycolumbusJuly 24, 2019Casper's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Cabell"On June 30th, it was with heavy hearts that our family said goodbye to our beloved Bandit. At 6 months old, he was rescued into our hearts almost 6 years to the day he passed. Since then, he has filled our lives with love and joy.

His time with us was cut entirely too short which is heartbreaking and unfair to say the least. However, the time he did have he spent cuddling , loving, giving out lots of kisses while always managing to look handsome, without ever trying!

The first few months with Bandit were a learning experience as he had to learn that there are good people in the world who would and did love him unconditionally. As a result, he quickly became the most loved by family and friends. Our hearts and home have been lonely without him, but we take solace knowing that he is in a better where he can run and play like he did a few short weeks ago.

As his illness progressed, we agonized over next steps. A major concern was the anxiety Bandit would feel going to the Vet and did not want that to be his last memory. His primary, Dr. Parker from Twin Rivers Animal Hospital VCA recommended Lap of Love. Upon arrival, Dr. Shannon Cabell reviewed the process and what we can and should expect. We had setup an area in a private section of our yard, under a tree where Bandit loved to play. As we laid with Bandit on a comfy blanket under the shade, we stroked his fur while whispering how much we loved him. As the birds were chirping and music played in the background we said our final goodbyes. This included his sister Bella, a lab mix.

As difficult as the events of the day were, Lap of Love made it bearable. Dr. Shannon was wonderful, caring, compassionate and respectful. We were so happy to give Bandit this final gift. The process and follow-up from Lap of Love has helped our family deal and cope with our loss.
