Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"It has been a year since I lost my fur baby Foster. Deciding to put him to rest was the hardest decision I have ever made. But, the experience (although absolutely heartbreaking) was so peaceful. My kitty was 15. He always got agitated going in his carrier- let alone heading to the Vet. So when he went into heart failure, the last thing I wanted to do was make him more uncomfortable and cause him stress. I decided to call Lap of Love. Dr. Jenn came the next day. She was soft-spoken, kind and comforting. She let me know what to expect. And as I held my little guy, she helped him take the journey over the rainbow bridge. Foster was comfortable the entire time. He lived his last moments in his home with his mom. And, I can't thank Dr. Jenn for making that the last memory I have of him- peaceful.
I highly recommend this experience for you and your pet's final moments. For a moment I don't really want to remember, it was an experience I will never forget. I can't be more thankful for providing us the right ending for my fluffy baby."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"We sincerely appreciated Dr. Jennifer's warm bedside manner and candor in one of the roughest days of our lives. The procedure she provided was the greatest final gift we could have ever given to Lucky, as excruciatingly emotional as it was to follow through with. I speak for all my family and friends that had the privilege of knowing and loving Lucky when I say thank you for aiding in Lucky's transition from this life to the next. People like Dr. Jennifer make the world a much better place providing the care that they do for our beloved pets."Zachary WeirMooresvilleJune 5, 2019Lucky's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"Sending Buddy Home was the hardest thing we have ever done. Should we? Shouldn't we? The thought of taking him to the vet made us weep...we wanted him to leave his beloved home peacefully, surrounded by those who love him...both us and his fellow 4-legged friends. With a friend's recommendation we contacted Lap of Love and from the moment they contacted us, we knew we would be in safe, loving hands. Their concern for us and for Buddy gave us such peace that we were making the right decision. Dr Walters was a gentle, kind, spirit in the midst of our grief and with her help we sent Buddy home peacefully. We are so very thankful for her and the gift she gave us. I do want to say one thing about the cost...yes, it is more than a vet charge, and that at first intimidated us. But you can't put a price on peace and love...familiarity and family. Thanks to Lap of Love, we can now look back on that day with gratefulness and thanksgiving...for the 15 years we were loved by Buddy, and for tender way Lap of Love allowed us to make his Home-going the very best it could be."Arlene TenczaWaxhawJune 4, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"Handsome, patient, resilient, and quite the “ladies man”. Aiden was the quintessential Chocolate Lab, with a mighty spirit that was never crushed. Last week, Lap of Love helped him gain his angel wings, and they were honored to assist a dog of his measure. He was a puppy when he became a survivor-dog of Hurricane Katrina, he lived through a horrendous ACL tear, and he was a U.S. nomad; traveling from New Orleans to Buffalo, and finally Charlotte. He loved camping, chasing tail, his family (especially his dad Paul) and food. Boy did he love his meals! We were fortunate enough to have had him for 14 years, but it was still way too soon for a dog with such heart. We miss you Aiden. Home just isn’t the same without you. Forever in our hearts 5.17.19❤️
Thank you Dr. Walters for making this process a beautiful transformation for our Aiden. We are so grateful for your services."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Rachel Cain"I am grateful for Dr. Rachel. She was so respectful of both Tippy and I. It was as if she had known us both for some time. Even after Tippy passed, she cared for her with such compassion and tenderness.

She made the most difficult day of my life a bit easier if that is at all possible. I thank you for taking care of us both."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"Dr. Jenn was very calm, quite spoken, and compassionate; listening when I needed to talk and waiting patiently when I was unable to. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Rachel Cain"People are different and react differently to end of life decisions with their pets. Dr. Rachel Cain was intuitive enough to read me and know my jokes and funny stories was my reaction to the grief of this difficult decision. She was so comfortable and easy going, laughing at my jokes, and could still ease me into the truth of what was happening. I am someone who does not feel comfortable with sharing my emotions with strangers. Dr. Rachel Cain did not feel like a stranger, but I still felt the need to hold back. She picked up on my "vibe" and left with upmost professionalism and sympathy after which I cried like a baby. To fully understand my situation, I present my pet's obituary which I posted on social media:

(( Ladies and Gentlemen, Elvis has left the building.
"Your mother loves Solomon"

Elvis passed peacefully with the help of Lap Of Love Veterinary Hospice in the comfort of his home while eating bacon.
Origin and exact age are unknown. Elvis was a complicated individual, loved to be loved, but only his way. He was described by his vet who often boarded him for vacations as "the happiest angry dog".
At one point while defiantly refusing his insulin shot, with a mouth full of food, under a towel (for my protection) the growling gargle sound took on the exact words "Your mother loves Solomon". These were the only words he spoke during his life, that I am aware of...And no, I am not making this up. Elvis spoke those words.
RIP Elvis. Wag your nub, anxiety free with no more sticking insulin shots twice a day. Run wild and free, for "All dogs go to heaven."))
Thank You
- Chris"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"Dr. Jen,
The house is very empty and quiet and it will definitely take some time to learn a new routine that doesn't revolve around Oliver! 16 plus years - I don't remember life without him being here.

I want to thank you for making the final moments with Oliver the best they could possibly be under the circumstances. Knowing he went from eating treats to sleeping - all in the comfort of his own home with no stress or anxiety - gives me tremendous peace. I don't have any regrets about the home I gave him or the way he died. I just miss him an awful lot!

I will be letting all my friends with pets know about Lap of Love. It was such a good experience. And I got Oliver's ashes back right away. The whole process was very easy on me.

Thank you for what you do.
Robin"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"On March 27, 2019 I used the service of Lap of Love to Euthanize my sweet baby girl of 17 years. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make but by far one the most peaceful experiences I have ever witnessed. This includes making that dreadful call where I could not get the words out that I needed to put my kitty to sleep. The woman that answered the phone and took my information was so amazing and I am so thankful for her too as she really listened and comforted me. She knew exactly what to say. The vet that came to my house was Dr. Jennifer Walters. She was so professional and so comforting during the entire experience. She answered all of my questions and explained to me exactly what she was doing step by step. She allowed me to read a pet prayer and talk through all my emotions before the procedure. I had a ton of guilt for letting my sweet girl lose so much weight before letting her go. She was slowly declining since Nov. of 2018 and although I never found out my vet suspected my kitty had cancer. Dr. Jenn told me that I was doing the brave thing and euthanizing my kitty before she got worse as she was still able to get around but just was on the decline due to difficulty in eating. This made me feel so much better with my decision. When the time came to put my baby to sleep I got out her favorite blanket and she jumped right into my lap and she slipped into the most peaceful sleep. I was dreading being with my kitty when she passed but it was so beautiful that I didn't even know she was gone. Into my arms, 2 shots and into heaven she went. I am so glad for this experience and the peace that it brought to me knowing my baby passed away in my arms on her favorite blanket in the place she called home for many years. I am so grateful for Lap of Love and Dr. Jennifer Walters. I highly recommend using this service...you will be blessed! Thank you so very much Dr. Jenn for treating my baby with such dignity.. She was a feral kitty that was rescued and lived the life of a princess as all pets should do for 17 wonderful years. What a life well lived and so many lessons taught to me by this furbaby and the memories are endless! I am forever changed and thank you Lap of Love for providing this service to pet owners!!!

Forever grateful and Blessed,

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"Words cannot express how grateful we are to Dr. Jennifer at Lap of Love for helping our family through this immensely difficult time. Saying goodbye to our Maggie was the hardest thing we've ever had to do and having Dr. Jennifer with us to walk us through the process with grace and compassion was a great comfort. Being able to say goodbye to our beloved dog in our own home was extremely important to us and Dr. Jennifer was able to come to us the same day we needed her. We are so very thankful to know that Maggie is at peace and no longer suffering. We hope to never need to use Dr. Jennifer again, but would not hesitate to recommend her services to anyone who is looking for a loving, comforting environment in which to say goodbye to their loved one. Thank you so much Dr. Jennifer, we appreciate you.
With gratitude,

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"Dr. Walters came to help us decide if it was time to have our sweetest angel Jack put to sleep last week. I am still too sad to go into much detail, but Dr. Walters could not have been kinder and his passing was so peaceful. Jack was a beautiful blonde German Shepherd mix and he had lived a good long life. He was 13 years old and had been my baby and best friend for 12 of those years. I don't think I would have ever been ready to say goodbye, but Dr. Walters helped to ease the pain of making that terrible decision. He had nasal carcinoma that had rapidly progressed over the course of six months despite chemotherapy, and she helped us to feel like saying goodbye before it progressed even further was the right choice to make for him and for us. I hope that one day I will feel that more fully, as right now all I feel is sadness, loss, and grief, but I know in my heart that she was right and I will be forever grateful to her for helping us. Dr. Walters was a true blessing for us and my most heartfelt thanks go out to her and the whole Lap of Love team."Annie PhaneufCharlotteMarch 10, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"Lap of Love and Dr. Jenn were wonderful!

When it was time to let our beloved Boxer, Morgan, go I contacted Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice on the recommendation of a close friend. From the very moment I spoke to Ann on the phone to Dr. Jenn's visit to the house I was treated with such respect and compassion. I was impress of how they were so sympathetic to our needs and desires.
Morgan hated going to the vet. She would become very anxious and shiver uncontrollably. I did not want her final moments to be so uncomfortable. When Dr. Jenn arrived we sat down with her and she gave us as much time as we needed to talk about Morgan and the life that she had. We cried as we shared many memories with with Dr. Jenn. She also shared stories that comforted us. She just waited patiently until we were ready to say good-by to Morgan.
I would have not done this any other way. There is no comparison between the cold, impersonal services of a vet's office to Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice's in home services."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"Dear Dr. Jen,

Thank you so much for the tender care towards the passing of our sweet dog Belah. I can not say enough how much we appreciate you and Lap of Love. You have given me and my husband so much respect with how much we loved our dog Belah. You allowed us to say good by to her in the best most loving way possible. And this means the world to us.

Belah’s last few days with us were amazing. We took her for car rides, she ate what ever she wanted, she got petted for hours on the sofa, took her to the park, and even got her in the baby stroller for a last long walk.

When you arrived to our home, it was so nice to see Belah perk up, and get up one last time. She was excited to see you and she knew you were a nice person. She went so peacefully. Really like her life. Just a long happy life with a good peaceful ending. Very Belah. She was a gift. True love. What an honor it was to have known her.

So now it is tears, but we have lots of memories of her. Such true love we got to experience. She was just the best, sweetest soul any humans could ever ask for. Our house is empty but our hearts are full.

We can not say thank you enough for all the love and support from you and Lap of Love. It truly helped and you all made such a difference in our lives. We can hold on to all the love that Belah brought to us and eventually bring another dog into our home and share the love!

Thank you for everything you do. We appreciate you beyond words.

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"Let me begin by saying that I do not use any form of social media, nor do I comment on websites. I decided to make an exception for Lap of Love because it was in reading page after page of testimonials, reading the stories being shared by other pet owners that had faced the heart wrenching decision to say their final goodbyes to their beloved animal companions, that made me pick up the phone and call on behalf of my cat, my sweet little girl of 15 years, Gizmo.

My call was received by Katie, who from the start expressed sympathy and compassion, as I fought to hold back my tears. Katie made the arrangements for the day and time I requested and gently took me through the process, explaining all the details and answering my questions.

On Gizmo's final day, there was a soft knock on my door and I greeted Dr. Jennifer Walters. This amazing woman came into my home and said and did all the right things to slightly lessen the pain of what was easily one of the most painful days of my life. My little girl's final moments were not spent in a cat carrier she hated or at the vet's office she was terrified of. Instead, her last memories were of the house she knew, surrounded by the people who loved her. As tears streamed down my face, I kissed her, whispered my final goodbye and she went to sleep in my arms.

Using her stethoscope, Dr. Walters let me know that Gizmo was beyond pain and suffering. She gently picked her up and wrapped her in the rainbow patterned blanket I wanted to bury her in. I buried her underneath the fig tree in my backyard and made a small grave marker with flowers and stones. I keep a candle burning there every night.

As of the time of this writing, it has not even been a week since I said goodbye to Gizmo. The grief and pain I'm experiencing are as intense and despairing as the pain of losing people who I have loved. It has been difficult to share this experience (I am crying as I type these words) but I do so in the hope that anyone reading this will find some comfort, as I was able to find some comfort in the stories of others.

Gizmo is in a better place and I'm glad Lap of Love was there to help her find her way. Dr. Walters, Katie and all the people of Lap of Love have my eternal gratitude.

Let me also thank all of the families and individuals who took the time to write their testimonials. By being vulnerable enough to share your pain, you gave me a little strength to bear the burden of mine.

My warmest regards,
Joseph Kellen"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Rachel Cain"While we knew our sweet Lilly did not have a lot of time left due to lymphoma, she declined very suddenly within a 24 hour period. It was a Sunday and I was very worried that no one would be able to come and help Lilly ease her suffering. Amazingly, Dr. Cain was able to be there within a few hours of my call. My two teenage girls were so upset. Dr. Cain was kind and gentle and very quickly got Lilly more comfortable. This gave us a bit more time to say goodbye with Lilly in a comfortable state. This is never a pleasant time for any family but Dr Cain and Lap of Love made it as smooth as it could be."Kym FurneyCharlotteJanuary 29, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"I cannot thank Dr. Jennifer and the Lap of Love staff enough. From the first interaction on the phone with Dianne, this heartbreaking process was made easy. Dianne was professional and kind on the phone and she followed up with an email containing documents to help our special needs son through the grieving process.
For the actual procedure, Dr. Jennifer was thoughtful, loving and showed more bed side manner to our dog than most human doctors show to their patients.
Our sweet Rosie passed at home surrounded by all who love her. I hope one day when my time comes, I am surrounded by this much love and compassion."
