Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dana Lewis"Dr. Dana has helped us with many pups over the years. In fact we waited a few days so that we could have her be in our home instead of another vet. We trust her as she has been so wonderful when she helps our babies cross the bridge. For such a horrible situation you couldn't ask for a better vet."Brian & Linda HardbargerDurhamNovember 8, 2019Tootie's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Betsy King"We were so grateful for the help of Lap of Love and Dr. Betsy to put our Mr. Ziggy to rest after his 16 happy years on this earth. The decision is always difficult, but made so much easier for him that he could be in familiar surroundings, in the lap of his owner. Ziggy always hated/dreaded veterinarian visits and the stuffing into a carrier and car trips that precipitated them, and he deserved the peaceful exit that Lap of Love provided for him after his months of treatment were no longer helping. He was our good little fraidy-cat, who would often disappear to unknown places at the first sound of thunder or knock at the door, but he could be the most affectionate loving, curl up in your lap kitty when all was calm and peaceful. We will needless to say, miss him greatly."Mark EdwardsCHAPEL HILLOctober 30, 2019

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Christina Hampton"I wanted to thank you all, especially Dr. Christina Hampton- for making my very loved dog Charlie have a gentle, calm passing. I didn't even know about home euthanasia, and had no idea it was affordable.
Charlie was sick from another illness, so he was weak and frail. There was a fire at our complex, and in the chaos and confusion, Charlie slipped and fell into a ravine as we were running to another area. He twisted his back end so badly he couldn't walk anymore. I was about to take him to the vet, when he began to poop blood. I knew then he was gravely injured.
My neighbor and friend took over and began searching for in-home vets, because moving Charlie would have been torture for him. We finally contacted Lap of Love, and even though Dr. Hampton was booked- she came as quickly as she possibly could. I appreciated her gentle, yet professional demeanor. Charlie was a nervous type, so this situation was ideal for us both. He was calm, being soothed, and he wasn't scared when he left us. A memory I can live with forever. Charlie and Dr. Hampton are in my heart forever. Thank you all SO MUCH!!"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Betsy King"I cannot say enough about how amazing this service is. We are so thankful for Lap of Love and their wonderful, caring staff. We needed a same day appointment to help our baby cross over the Rainbow Bridge and they were able to arrange that. Dr. Betsy came to our house and made the process as easy and peaceful as she could for us and our beloved dog. She was so sweet and so caring and really helped us get through it more than she can imagine. She gave us the amount of time we needed to say goodbye and made our baby as comfortable as possible. She really respected and understood the amount of pain and heartbreak we were going through and she knew just how to make the situation as calm and comforting as it could be. I really don't know how I would have handled it or gotten through it without her. We are beyond grateful that we were able to say goodbye in the comfort of our house and that we had such an amazing person to help us through it. Thank you so much, it meant the world to us!

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Christina Hampton"Thank you, Dr. Christina, for your gentle kindness to Nico and us on this very sad day. Nico’s Dad was so dreading the process of releasing our beloved to The Rainbow Bridge. You were incredibly empathetic, sympathetic and extraordinarily professional. Dad commented afterwards how we were able to lift Nico up and let him go with such great dignity and love. A stunning accomplishment for you and I am so thankful! What a blessing to have Nico in my lap, wrapped in his favorite, soft blanket when he departed. This sweet memory will linger with me forever! Thank you..."Ricki GrantmyreBald Head IslandOctober 22, 2019Nico's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dana Lewis"Our beautiful Gracie suddenly became sick at 12 years old with a neurological illness and suspected brain tumor. When she took a fast turn for the worse and stopped walking we knew it was time to say goodbye. Lap of Love was able to send Dr.Dana out to us the same day which was really important because we didn't want her to suffer, as she had lost the ability to walk. We feel truly blessed that Dr.Dana gave us such a beautiful and peaceful way to say goodbye to our sweet angel. She is so compassionate, and really helped us through this difficult time."Dawn SApexOctober 3, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Christina Hampton"Dr. Hampton,
Words cant express how thankful we are to have you help Stuey enter Doggie Heaven. Her compassion reassured us that we were making the right choice in helping him be at peace. Stuey has been a part of our lives for 14 years and it was hard to let him go, understandably so. But Dr. Hampton was never pushy and allowed us to dictate the pace of the process. We know Stuey was appreciative of a compassionate heart at the end as well"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dana Lewis"While dealing with this heart breaking time, Dr. Dana was an absolute angel for us. Our sweet girl Fifi was diagnosed with kidney failure at 16 years old. We brought her home and spent some quality time loving her to the max and keeping her comfortable. When we knew the time was right, we spent an hour or so with her in the garden and let her soak up the sun one last time. Dr. Dana arrived and was so compassionate, she put all of us at ease. She talked us through everything before hand and also as we went through each step, she was so patient and kind. The process was as beautiful as it could be. We are so thankful we did not take her to the vet for her final moments. Now that we have experienced Lap of Love, we will never take any other route. As difficult of a decision as it was to make, Lap of Love and Dr. Dana gave us such a gift in the experience they gave our girl. We are eternally grateful."Amy ScullyRaleighSeptember 27, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Betsy King"Dr. Betsy was able to come out the same day we called to help our Lucy. The process was very well done, and so much better letting our sweet girl avoid the stress of an office visit. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dana Lewis"We would like to thank Dr Dana Lewis and Lap of Love for the compassionate care they provided to our family. I am a veterinarian but when it came time to say goodbye to our 17 year old companion, Bucky, I contacted Lap of Love. Dr Dana Lewis was kind, professional, compassionate, and allowed me to be there for Bucky as his Mom and his friend, not as a veterinarian. We were able to say goodbye in the privacy and comfort of our home. Bucky was surrounded by love, as well as his favorite treats, toys and people. Dr Lewis gave us a gift beyond measure and we will always be grateful for her expertise and kindness at this difficult time."CarySeptember 18, 2019

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dana Lewis"Making the decision to let our first baby, Tyke, go was one of the most difficult we have ever made. We had never been through this process before but wanted to be able to let Tyke stay at home where he felt safe and comfortable. Our vet recommended lap of love and so we reached out. We were able to get an appointment the same day which really mattered because Tyke was significantly worse in 24 hours and we didn’t want him to suffer. Dr. Dana was like a true angel. She came in, and was so calm with us. She explained everything that was going to happen. She handled Tyke with so much love and care but she also gave us our space to process. She gave him the sedative and then sat back and away so we could have our time saying goodbye. Even when she was checking to see if he was asleep, she petted his face like he was her own dog and it really meant so much to us. As she was about to give him the anesthesia, my ex-husband jumped in and asked if she could wait just one more minute. She was so patient and totally understood what we needed. My other dog meanwhile started growling at her and when I asked if she needed me to lock him up (which would probably have just stressed me out even more), she said, “no, he is just expressing his unhappiness with the situation.

After Tyke had passed, she went outside to give us our time to really grieve. She never came back in until we went out and got her. She was so patient, we never felt rushed. Even when we were loading Tykie in the car, she gave me a huge hug and said how sorry she was for the loss of Tyke. As I started to walk away and she was pushing the stretcher in the car, I heard her say so quietly “good boy.” It really touched my heart because even though he was gone, she was still treating him with such care, respect and love. I will remember that forever. And just a few days later we received a hand written sympathy card in the mail. Even how Tyke’s ashes were delivered, in a beautiful cherry wood box and velvet bag. All of it mattered.

Dr. Dana, I just want to personally say thank you. Thank you for taking what was truly one of the hardest days of our lives and making it as peaceful as possible and taking away all of the stress that you possibly could for us. You said you love what you do and I understand why. Because you help families like us navigate what feels impossible and you help our beautiful pets cross over in the most loving and safe way. You are a gift and I am so thankful we found you. I just wanted you to know how much we appreciate you and how you helped us."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dana Lewis"When Charlie crossed the rainbow bridge we were fortunate to have Dr. Dana to navigate the path. She was compassionate and kind to both my Mom and I and to Charlie. Charlie was diagnosed with lymphoma in April and crossed the bridge July. He went down hill very fast after having a seizure. I am so grateful that we learned about Lap of Love and had an appointment scheduled when we did. Charlie was able to remain at home until the end with the people he so loved and who loved him."Ann HuntCaryAugust 18, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Christina Hampton"Dr Christina came to help Misha cross over that day. She was so nice and gentle with her. My good friend came over to hold my hand and we told stories about Misha and listened to them all. Afterwards, she gave me the time to say my goodbyes, letting me take my time.

Thank you Dr Christina for taking care of my Misha."

Therefore, Dr. Dana's emotional compassion and professional assistance was crucial to me to help Isabel move on in the most peaceful way possible while resting at home in her own bed. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Christina Hampton"Many thanks to Dr. Christina Hampton and the entire Lap of Love team for the care they provided to our beloved cat Fred in his final moments. In such an incredibly difficult time we were (and still are) able to take comfort in the fact that we did what was best for Fred in the comfort of his home and Lap of Love allowed this to happen. Dr Hampton was friendly, professional, patient, caring, compassionate and respectful. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dana Lewis"Dr Dana's warm professionalism and thoughtfulness helped make saying goodbye to Sammie the best experience it could have been. She was central to the experience while somehow allowing all of the room and time we needed to give Sammie the most loving goodbye that we could. Her tenderness toward him, both before and after his death, touched my heart, I can't adequately express. Thank you for providing this service. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Christina Hampton"Dr. Christina was an angel. She was so kind and considerate, letting me hold him as he passed, giving us the time we needed, and helping him to pass with dignity and honor. And even though it isn't normally done, she even shaved him for us so we could collect his hair to be turned into yarn. I could not have asked for a more caring doctor to help my baby boy and I appreciate what she did for us and for him especially more than words can describe."Kit S.CaryJuly 1, 2019Josie's Pet Memorial
