Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"Our Girl, Isabelle was a 12.5 year old GSD/Pit mix who I rescued when she was around 8 weeks old from our local shelter. She slowed down slightly in the last year but seemed to deteriorate quickly in 2 weeks which is when I noticed some new lumps, one that was quite large on her neck and was drastically impeding her ability to breath, eat or drink. The following day our worst fears were confirmed, Lymphoma. We knew that we didn't want her to suffer but wanted to do everything we could to allow her to pass comfortably at home. Luckily for us, the steroid worked to shrink the mass and temporarily restore her quality of life.
From my first phone call to Lap of Love through our final moments with Belle, I couldn't be more pleased with the kindness, compassion and empathy shown to us by everyone we encountered during this painful process. They understood the impact a pet has on your life and the feelings associated with making the tough choice to euthanize. Lisa was who I spoke to first, her kind words showed her genuine concern for our family. She did all she could to ensure we had the resources we needed to navigate the loss of our Belle and to set up a time that we were comfortable with.
Belle's last day was the first time she (and we) met Dr. Brad but you never would have known that. He was gentle and kind, he listened to us ramble on about Our Girl as he calmly petted her. He moved at a pace that we were comfortable with, guiding us every step of the way, ensuring us that this was the most generous gift we could give our beloved furry family member. He treated Belle with complete respect and I am grateful that she was able to pass in our home, comfortable in her spot, surrounded by love.
It takes very special people with kind hearts to take on the burden of being with other's on some of their toughest days. I will be forever grateful for Dr. Brad and Lisa for being there to allow us to say goodbye to Our Girl Isabelle, the best way we knew how."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Anne Mitchell, VMD"Lap of Love was wonderful from the beginning to the end of this process. Dr. Anne came to our home today to help us relieve our cat Alli from pain. It was as peaceful as possible and Dr. Anne took amazing care of her and of us. She listened, answered questions, and was patient while we said goodbye and gave our other cats a chance to do the same. We’re so grateful that something like this exists, and we can’t and don’t want to imagine how stressful it would have been if we had to take Alli somewhere for this. She was able to pass peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family. This situation is terrible and heartbreaking, but Lap of Love really does do a phenomenal job at making it as peaceful and painless as possible. Thank you so much."Melissa StephanDrexel Hill, PennsylvaniaJanuary 15, 2019Alli's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Anne Mitchell, VMD"This is the only way to go! Your pet is in the comfort of their own home, unafraid and around all their loved ones when the time comes. there is nothing more beautiful then seeing your pet at piece after struggling to survive Imagine having to take your loved one to the vet, wait your turn while they are afraid and in pain, rather then being in their known surroundings, passing peacefully while her family (dogs, cat's owners) surround them. A caring Vet with only them to care for."MAURICE TANNENBAUMGladwyne, PennsylvaniaJanuary 14, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Anne Mitchell, VMD"Dr. Anne made a very difficult day more bearable and I appreciated her innate sense of timing and tact in how she dealt with both me and Blue. She confirmed what I already knew in my heart, and set about making both of us as comfortable as possible. Alex, the operator that I spoke to in the morning was incredibly kind too. There's no way to describe how difficult it is to put your trusted companion of 15 years down, so the ease with which all Lap of Love staff handle the stress and grief in this circumstance is commendable.

I'm deeply grateful to Dr. Anne, Alex, and Lap of Love for allowing our last moments together to be as peaceful as possible. Thank you, and please continue your courageous work!"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"So impressed with Dr. Brad! My heart is broken in such a way that I will never recover from, but Dr. Brad made this experience as easy as it could possibly be. From the very second he arrived, he couldn’t have been more kind and caring. It really felt as if he was a good friend or even family. He examined my sweet Penny in such a gentle and loving way that she didn’t even seem to realize that he was a doctor or that he was examining her. I’m pretty sure that she thought he was just more of the family loving on her. There really aren’t enough words to describe this doctor or the way he made us feel...he was soft spoken, kind, caring, knowledgeable, and gentle just to name a few. In fact, I talked to 4 or 5 different people throughout this whole process and each one was so wonderful and caring. This is pretty pricey, but so worth every dime. I know this is something that not everyone can afford, so I would advise anyone with a pet to just start saving at any point in your pets life, so that you’ll have the money when the time comes."Eileen DempseyTrainer, PennsylvaniaDecember 30, 2018
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"As sad and upsetting as it is to make this decision, I know that my sweet kitty was relaxed and comfortable with me buy his side and in his own home as he passed. Lap of Love is compassionate, warm and humane."WYNNEWOOD, PennsylvaniaDecember 29, 2018
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Anne Mitchell, VMD"Lap of Love is such a wonderful organization.

Today is not about me but about my sister Pepper. I'm not so sure on how I say goodbye to someone who has taught me how to be lady in this house, other then to honor her in all she has done in the 14 years that my humans had her. She loved being part of the NewPennDel Newfie club with extravagant water parties. She also loved being part of the Therapy dogs International organization, helping to put similes on peoples faces making them feel loved and special. She was such a huge part of a family who loved her and took her everywhere they could from the beach to the mountains, enjoying both the ocean and the snow. She loved enjoying all the special moments a family goes through like birthdays, holidays, and even a few graduations. I hope I can make your humans proud of me just like they were proud of you. I will miss you forever Pepper.

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Anne Mitchell, VMD"Dr. Anne was so nice the moment she walked into our home. She had no problem waiting a half an hour for my oldest son to arrive at the home. My family and I were given the time necessary to cope with our loss; Anne's patience and sympathy was truly a blessing. I'm glad I called Lap of Love to provide an emotional and intimate goodbye that our veterinarian simply could not . We were able share the last moments with our beautiful little ZuZu, in the comfort of our home, with all the people who loved her. Especially her Mom,her best friend, Regina. Zuzu followed my wife everywhere. Regina's love for her dog made them inseparable. To love and hold her until she passed made the difference for my wife and family. The paw print and the lockets of hair will stay with us forever. Thank you for making that moment so special.

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"Dr. Anne was very informative when she came to the house to assess Lt, our beloved Dalmatian of 13 years. Dr. Brad was very caring and compassionate when it came time to say goodbye to Lt the following week. Lap of Love vets and their staff are the best and we would recommend them."Lisa and John FugeloWarminster, PennsylvaniaDecember 26, 2018
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Anne Mitchell, VMD"Dr. Anne was a compassionate and professional presence from our very first greeting. She came into our home softly, and with love. She gave our dog, Nimbus, aka the Best Dog Ever, a little check up to confirm that he was indeed in true respiratory distress and that we had already done everything we could to help him stick around as long as possible, without intense suffering. She allowed us time to be with him, exactly as we needed to be, and seamlessly handled the details of tending to this passage without disturbing anyone or anything in our home.

The paw print and bit of fur is a treasured relic in our home and Dr. Anne was loving and gentle with every interaction she had with Nimbus, and with us. She never rushed the process nor us, and also didn't drag it out painfully. Having the time to tend to Nimbus was such a gift. Lap of Love also provided us with with some literature about grieving and children that was and continues to be so supportive of this heartbreaking time.

We are all very grateful to have had the chance to give our dog as good a death as he had life...."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"I spoke with a very kind woman on the phone giving me information about the service that Lap of Love provides. Beau was my 14 y.o. German Shepherd who had cancer. I have had many GSD's and Beau was about the best ever. When the time came that I had to let my Beau be at peace I called Lap of Love and Dr. Brad came to my house without delay. He was so kind and caring; he explained exactly what would occur and helped me through the awful process of euthanasia. I really can't find the words to express how sad I was but Dr. Brad made it so much better just by his warm and comforting words. Anyone who loves their pet should seek out Lap of Love when they need this service."Irene HoelzelNorristown, PennsylvaniaDecember 22, 2018
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Anne Mitchell, VMD"I hope I can find the words to express my feelings for Dr. Anne and the service of Lap of Love. My best friend and wonderful companion, Rags, meant the world to me. I struggled for a week trying to decide how to part with this sweet, beautiful, yellow lab that entered my life 13 years ago. I did not know what to expect from this service, I just knew that forcing my friend to get into a car and taking him away from our home was not what I wanted for him. The minute Dr. Anne walked through the door, I knew I was doing the right thing. Rags left me so peacefully, in his own home with me by his side, the way it needed to be for him and I both. I can not thank Dr. Anne enough for helping me and my sweet boy on his journey. This is a wonderful service and Dr. Anne was the most compassionate, caring, understanding person I could have wished for. Thank you!"Rose GoodyearCoatesville, PennsylvaniaDecember 21, 2018
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"I called Lap of Love when I knew my beloved Charlotte was in great pain . I was very unsure of my choice as I did not know any of the doctors or how they would be with my big girl. My fears were unfounded. From my first phone call to schedule my appointment I was treated with compassion and immediately knew I made the right call. When Dr. Brad came to help my Charlotte he was kind and thoughtful, he let me know each step he was taking to insure her passing was peaceful. She will be returned to me from their crematorium in a beautiful urn. Lap of Love made one of the hardest decisions of my life into a beautiful passing and I knew she was at peace and pain free when she passed. Thank you Dr. Brad and the staff at Lap of Love. You are all in my prayers and your care was simply the best."Penny CorbyCoatesville, PennsylvaniaDecember 18, 2018
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"Dr. Brad is an amazing person. He is so compassionate and caring. Dr. Brad made this sad and devastating experience peaceful for our baby Chili, and helped us through it. He was so patient and allowed us all the time we needed with Chili. We felt that our baby was cared for and respected. We are so grateful that Dr. Brad was the one who helped our beautiful girl become our angel. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"Dr. Brad, with his kind and compassionate demeanor, made this most difficult decision a much more caring and peaceful experience. One never wants to say good bye to a beloved pet, but when the time comes, this is a loving and kind way to do so. I only wish I would have been able to do this for my other pets in the past. To have our precious Kiwi surrounded by her family was a beautiful gift for all of us. Dr. Brad was so respectful of the situation and allowed us all the time we needed. I highly recommend the wonderful service Lap of Love offers, and especially appreciate our fortune to have had Dr. Brad help us."Meg ClemmBlue Bell, PennsylvaniaDecember 16, 2018Kiwi's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"It is hard to find the words for how much we appreciate the service Lap of Love provides and the compassionate care and expertise of Dr. Brad Bates.

Our 14 year-old female tabby, Bee, was suffering with an untreatable cancerous mass in her mouth. We saw her decline quickly over a period of days and we could not help ease her pain. Dr. Brad came to our home on a Sunday, he had read all of the background materials we had sent (from our vet and oncologist) and spent the time to answer all of our questions regarding Bee’s cancer, her symptoms, behavior and prognosis. He then spent time with Bee and talked through with us all of our options. He did not push us in any direction and when we came to the conclusion that euthanasia was the most humane course of action (she couldn’t eat or drink) he was so very helpful and supportive.

For us to be able to spare Bee the trauma of another vet visit and for her to go sleep free of pain surrounded by the things and people she loved was priceless. We also now have a very clinical understanding of her suffering - this has been helping us immensely as we’ve been dealing with the loss, we know we did the best thing for her (even though it was the hardest for us).

We are so grateful to Lap of Love and Dr. Brad Bates."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"I wish we had known about the geriatric consultation limb of Lap of Love a long time ago. Our darling Sam, a 13 1/2 year old yellow lab, could have had months or even years that were better quality, but I guess that is water under the bridge. We did call Lap of Love for a palliative care consultation, and even in that one hour meeting a week ago, Dr. Brad came up with a dozen suggestions, both medical and otherwise, to make her days go more easily. He met us half way in our own capacity to accommodate her escalating needs, for example in a discussion about whether or not to use a cart if she became paralyzed or completely unable to use her back legs. We did not feel judged or pushed one way or another. He presented the options in a kind and thoughtful way, and was willing to offer his own experienced opinion as well, as well as tools to help us decide. In the end I think we contacted Lap of Love late in the day. She had already deteriorated quite badly. Her last days actually were better because of Dr. Brad, but we put Sam to sleep just a week after our initial consult. We could not have asked for a more gentle passing for our girl. We are still heavy with grief, but we were supported in the process and Sam was eased out of this mortal struggle with as much kindness, grace, and dignity as is possible in this world. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Brad and Lap of Love."Jo BuyskePhiladelphia, PennsylvaniaDecember 10, 2018
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"Dr. Brad,
Thank you so much for making our sweet Ozzy’s last day be as peaceful as he deserved. Over the past 15 1/2 years, Ozzy has had numerous health scares and issues, at times we thought he was part cat, since he truly had 9 lives. Being able to let him go surrounded by all of us who loved him so much made an unbearable experience somewhat tolerable. Our other dog Buddy already misses his older furry brother but I hope he adapts to life as an only fur child. He has our children’s three dogs, that visit often, to help him not be as lonely.

Thanks again for the service you provide and allowing our “devil” to pass in his own home.

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"On Sunday morning my husband and I came to the painful realization that our 15 year old pitt-terrier, Patty wasn't getting any better and we needed to end her suffering. In addition to our dog being in pain, we were very unsure of where to take her for this. She isn't a very social animal, other dogs specifically made her very anxious. I found Lap of Love through a google search and I was met with nothing but love and understanding from the moment the call was answered. Dr. Brad arrived to my home about 2 hours after my call and was an absolute angel. Not only did he calm my Patty down, he did the same for us. He reassured us of our decision and allowed us some time to say our goodbyes. We were able to feed her snacks and hold her on the couch until she fell asleep. I will forever feel indebted to Dr. Brad and Lap of Love for their unique service. One of my worst days was met with compassion, understanding and love. I know that my Patty lived a great life and her ending was just as peaceful as anyone can hope for.
If you are reading this and you know that you are out of options for your pet, be confident in this team's ability. The comfort of home is so much more calming to you and your pet, when compared to the alternative."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Anne Mitchell, VMD"This was the most peaceful and proper farewell I could have ever imagined for my dog who, like most, was a member of the family and deserved to be alleviated of his pain. I was very unsure of how things would play out but everything went so perfectly. I would highly recommend this to everyone contemplating how to end their sick/ old dog’s life. The doctor explained the whole process to me in detail and made me feel very comfortable. I couldn’t imagine hauling him in to the vet and making him nervous; ending his life in a cold sterile room surrounded by unfamiliar smells and people. Lap of Love is the only way I will ever put a dog to rest, it is well worth the money. I really appreciate the Vets, especially Dr. Anne for dedicating themselves to animal hospice services, you are in good hands trusting these people with your dogs peaceful passing on."Joseph MazukMorton, PennsylvaniaNovember 28, 2018
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"Memphis passed peacefully, in our arms, while eating ham and mashed potatoes, gently falling to sleep. He was 16, and had cancer, and it was time. He had a wonderful day with long slow walks, some bunnyhop running, and giant bone chewing. Memmo was beloved by all, and truly the gentlest, best damn dog in the world. He enters Dog Valhalla to join those who passed before: Fairlea, Cherry, and WhiskeyB.

Our telephone consultation and appointment setting were handled by Kaycee, who was informative, calm, and sympathetic on the phone, while I was a blubbering mess. Much appreciated.
Dr Brad was punctual, professional, gentle, and all that we could hope for during this very, very emotional time. I would not hesitate to recommend the services provided by Dr Brad to any in need."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"I cannot adequately convey how well the Lap of Love team, headed by Dr. Bates, guided me through my Honey's transition. They were incredibly kind and considerate throughout the process - beginning with the painful call to their office through to the end of Honey's life. I was questioning my decision but they made it very clear that my decision was 100% correct (unlike Honey's regular vet). I truly believe that a "saint" walked through my front door and took special care of my best friend. I will be forever grateful for their compassion and care."Tracy DuffieldConshohocken, PennsylvaniaNovember 26, 2018
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"Dr. Brad came to our home recently to give our sweet Jay the peaceful send off we wanted for him.
Dr. Brad was caring and compassionate and very aware of our sadness. He explained every step of the process as he went so we knew what Jay was experiencing.
We were able to say good-bye in the comfort and peace of our home so Jay was not stressed or scared.
Losing a pet is heartbreaking but Dr. Brad and the staff will help you say good-bye at home.
We are grateful to have found Dr Brad and Lap of Love,
