Jessie
9/27/2004 - 11/5/2015Big dogs with soft hearts are often known as gentle giants, but no one could be more gentle than our Jessie. The last of an unplanned litter, she was headed for the shelter when chance brought her into our lives. She bonded immediately with Harry, our saintly old golden retriever, and she followed in his paw prints from that first snowfall in Colorado to a lasting place in our hearts. Jessie wasn’t just a shadow, though—she was very much herself, with her sweet face and soulful eyes, her dainty eating habits and her love of routine pleasures like her morning ear-rub. She was the soul of patience when, after Harry’s passing, a rascally five-year-old bulldog named Romeo entered our lives. Romeo had no canine manners or socialization when he first came home, but everything he learned came from Jessie. She could be a fighter when she had to be, pulling through a dangerous illness last year that saw her hospitalized and fed through a tube for over a week. She was her old self again before long. Looking back, we are so grateful for the extra year with Jessie. Cancer finally took her from us this fall, but to the last she was a brave and sweet patient who comforted us as much as we did for her.
If you are reading this, it’s probably because you, too, have lost a dear friend and companion. We hope your loved one gets to meet Jessie somewhere on the other side, and knowing Jessie, they’re already friends.

Kiska
9/11/2002 - 11/19/2015Kiska gave me a lot of good times and chases. This dog was part husky and loved to run any chance she got Including Christmas eve, good Friday, and during a snow Storm. (White dog in a driving snow storm! That's FUN right there) she LOVED chasing her tail and tried to pull her tail under her and through her back legs and under her belly. she was always sweet (at least to me) and she loved, loved, LOVED being sneaky and having the back of her neck petted, and could be 100% attitude! She was and will always be my baby!Stacey MenardWheatfield, New YorkNovember 21, 2015
Shadow
3/1/1997 - 11/10/2015THE PERFECT CAT
A perfect cat is affectionate but not annoying
Thinks he is a dog, runs to greet you when you come in
Comes when he is called, answering you with a meow
Does a yoda impression, wears a Halloween costume for 5 minutes
Cries out for your attention, but once he gets it stops crying
Is in the room with you, if not sitting with you
Is friendly with all your visitors, falls in love with some of them
Is a beauty to look at, with clear eyes and a soft clean coat
Is soft to touch, a comfort to anyone touching him
Uses the litter box, and keeps himself clean
Purrs softly, plunges his feet with joy and then even drools
Is a friend, a companion, but when his days are done
It’s the kindest thing to let him go, not allow him to lose his quality of life
All the things he loved, like sitting up high on a chair, counter or ledge,
Like sitting in the sun stream that is inside your house
Slipping out the dog door or front door to sit in the sun outside
Never leaving home for too long, always sitting on the porch
Like eating tuna fish, chicken or other treats
Just being petted and loved. Like being able to see, hear and smell. Just the basics were gone.
I'll miss you Shadow. Thank you God for sharing him with me for almost 19 years.

Ryder
5/14/2002 - 11/15/2015Ryder was "Oscar Madison" of Greyhounds. He would eat his food in 1 or 2 gulps, turn around and belch, and then jump on the couch, flip upside down and snore. He always wanted to be close. Almost every night would climb into bed and sandwich in between us. It was very hard to let him go, but it was best for him. The house is hauntingly quiet. He will be missed greatly and never forgotten.Chris webstergulfport, FloridaNovember 20, 2015

Cutter
4/15/2001 - 11/10/2015We have had many pets, animal friends, companions, whatever term you choose that we were fascinated by, or in love with the beauty of, laughed at the funny behavior and displays of their views of the world; we felt " Loved:" and most certainly needed by many witty and wise creatures from a hungry infant beak, to aged paws or turtle claws clutching a grateful treat. We loved them as one bestows love or charity, at holidays. But Cutter, Vivian, and I, fell in love on a kinship level. The love and bond we shared was like a radio channel into the eyes and ears of another creature’s world. The old Lassie theme episodes of saving your life by getting help, or, would your dog leap off a cliff or ledge trusting you being below...Bah, that was baby stuff for the likes of us. Cutter proved himself a hero to human and dog, But THIS DOG KNEW when you were crying and hurt even on the inside and his 45 pounds of athlete dog leap into your lap, and his gold lupine eyes said "I understand, and I'll never leave your side". They don't judge empathy, psychic-atonement, or agape' in the show ring or our Cutter would have had a room full of ribbons!Richard and Vivian MuggVallejo, CaliforniaNovember 19, 2015
Angel
5/25/2003 - 11/17/2015Dear Angel,
You will be truly missed and we love you so much. You were a great dog! You protected us from the mailman, and from anyone else you thought was a threat. We will miss you barking like crazy whenever the mail came. We will miss you staring at us when you wanted to eat our food. We will miss you and everything you did for us. I will miss taking you to the park, and waiting for you when you rested at the gazebo. I will miss buying you your favorite treats, and just petting you and saying "good girl Angel!" even after you bark for no reason. :)
I love you so much Angel, and I hope you knew just how much. We all miss you terribly. May you run free at any park you like now. We will see you again and we can't wait. We will have so many treats for you Angel! I love you so much.

Tucker
12/13/2004 - 11/16/2015Tucker, where do I even begin? You and your brother have been everything to us. The loves of our life, the children we never had, the sunshine in our everyday. You have taught us so much more than we could have ever imagined like Always love and comfort others, Put yourself second, Don't take life so seriously it's ok to be silly, Be beautiful on the inside not just outwardly, Stop and listen and try to understand, Always be neat and tidy and clean up after yourself, Appreciate music, Don't be afraid to be curious so go ahead and give that door a little nudge and so much more...its endless.
My beautiful, soft, smart, funny, sweet, good, amazing, and caring boy, I will miss you more than I could ever express as our love for you and your brother simply can't be translated with just mere words. Rest easy now free from pain and know that we think of you always and we look forward
....until the day we meet again. Loving you forever and always.
