Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Miles
7/1/2016The world lost the gentlest and sweetest dog when Miles passed away last week and our whole family lost a friend. Miles was a long term stray when we adopted him from PAWS so we never knew exactly how old he was, (about 1 or 2) but we had him for 11 years and while he was with us he had a good life and lots of fun. Miles enriched all our lives, he was such a sweet and quirky dog- he didn't like the dog park, he preferred a paved path to the grass, he grazed at his food all day long instead of ever gobbling it up, he circled and circled before he would find the perfect spot to lay down, in short he made us laugh all the time. While normally gentle, we will never forget the infamous time he bit the tail off a squirrel at Greenlake park! He loved other dogs, was great with the little ones in our family and always loved having a buddy to play with. Miles brought a smile to everyone and everyone in our family considered him a friend, strangers also loved to pet him. We will never forget you our sweet buddy, the walks in the park, the hikes and camping trips, the endless bones and raw hide treats you buried in the back yard and your hound dog bark that we could recognize from a block away. You were very well loved by our friends and family and we have missed you so much. We saw you start to get slower and older but no one was ready for how quickly your time came. We will think of you whenever we see squirrels at the park and we will always treasure our times together.Seattle, WashingtonJuly 6, 2016
Gus
9/13/2006 - 7/5/2016Gus was truly a once-in-a-lifetime dog. He brought a smile to everyone's face with his cartoon-like expressions and goofy temperament. He was my constant companion and loved to take walks and watch the squirrels, go on car rides, eat baby carrots, and play in the snow and at the beach. He was endlessly loyal and attached to my hip. I would walk him off leash without a worry in the world, as Gus would always be right by my side. I feel honored and privileged to have had the pleasure of being his dog-owner for the past ten years, and receive his unconditional love. Gus made me a better person, and I will cherish my memories of our time together.Pleasant Ridge, MichiganJuly 6, 2016
Boo
7/17/1998 - 7/4/2016Boo was such a great cat-she was so loving and enjoyed snuggling and playing with me and friends every day. She had such a great personality that even people who weren't "cat" people instantly fell in love with her. The house is so empty without her...I still can't believe she's gone. For almost 18 years she was a big part of my life and her absence is felt around every corner and moment throughout the day. I'll miss her dearly but am thankful that she no longer is in any pain.Michele ZantaPlantation, FloridaJuly 5, 2016
Bleu "Boo Boo"
2/5/2002 - 7/1/2016On July 1, 2016 our baby Bleu, "Boo Boo", passed away. Boo Boo was a beautiful Blue Weimaraner and embodied so many of the weimie characteristics; a very sensitive nature, loved food, stubborn, highly intelligent, and had incredible focus on anything she wanted. She was a handful and taught us so much about companionship, patience and unconditional love on a daily basis.
While she enjoyed a long pampered pooch life, she gave so much more in return. Love, sweetness, comedy, and lessons were a few of the many blessings she brought to our small family. She was our furry baby. We will miss her here on earth but look forward to joining her in heaven one day. I miss her more than I could ever put into words. Bleu was and always will be a large part of my heart.

Bear
7/1/2016Bear came into our lives on January 18, 2003. We were told he was 2-3 years old at the time. He had been hit by a car & brought to the shelter to be adopted after his wounds healed. We loved his sweet face & thought it was time for our other beloved cat Bandit, to have a brother. Bear was so laid back, the transition went pretty smoothly when we added him to our family. We named him Bear because he just looked like a little bear to us. His fur was fluffy & very soft to the touch & everyone thought he felt like a little bunny rabbit. He would lay on his back & resemble a bunny, so we nicknamed him Bun Bun when he posed like that.
We made the difficult decision to let him go after nursing him for 5 years with kidney disease with special food, etc. We were administering fluids this year & finally he let us know it was time to let him go.
He was just the sweetest cat ever. He brought us much joy & happiness & we will forever hold him in our hearts RIP Bear Bear, you will be greatly missed.

Company
3/23/1997 - 7/4/2016On the Fourth of July, my best friend Company passed away. I was 8 when I got him, and he was 2 or 3. I'm 24 now and he was my companion through so much. After losing my father when I was 12, and then my two best friends six months apart when I was 22, he was the constant in my life. I talked to him about everything that was happening in my life. He wasn't much of an advice giver, but he loved to listen. He helped me cope with the loss of my dad as I tried to explain to him where my dad was and what happened to him and that it was going to be okay. I miss him so much already, and its only been twelve hours. Rest easy little buddy, you were the best Company I could have ever asked for.Frank CampfieldOak Park, IllinoisJuly 5, 2016

Hugo
5/13/2005 - 6/25/2016Hugo, my best buddy and the World's BEST dog. He was a 165lb St. Bernard, but my family's gentle giant. He had a laid back personality and went with the flow. So sweet. He always leaned his whole body weight on your leg so you can pet him, constantly, under his neck. And then he would lift his paw and hit your leg as a reminder that you stopped scratching and you needed to continue. He also was a lover of marshmallows- which was the only food that made him drool (sometimes the occasional frog made him drool too if he licked them). He was school mascot at many soccer games and extremely popular on dog walks. Everyone would stop and ask his name, ask if they can pet him, how much he weighed, etc. He was considered "famous" among the neighborhood. He left behind two companions, a mini dachaund named Hurley and a yellow lab named Lily-who shared multiple weekends away at the Lake or the family's farm chasing cows. He was loved by all and will greatly be missed. Long Live the King of dogs, HUGO! xoxoxoxChristi JohaningmeyerSt. Louis, MissouriJuly 5, 2016
Ruby
7/15/2003 - 7/1/2016On July 1, 2016, our little angel Ruby Mae passed away. She was the best dog our family could have ever asked for. We will never forget her and all of the happiness she brought into our lives. Though she is just a memory now, her constant love will always remind us how beautiful life can be. It is very difficult to believe she is no longer with us and we wish so much to hold her once more, but we know we will see her again.
