Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Romeo
4/1/2004 - 5/21/2020It’s the end of an era. We had to say goodbye to our sweet Romeo (aka Roman Noodle, Roman Doodle, Mr. R., Mr. Maine Coon, Romanita, Buds) today. He had a final feast of butter and greenies. We met him in a shelter in Michigan when he was only 10 months old and couldn’t leave the fluffy kitty that squawks and talks behind. We named him Romeo because he repeatedly rubbed his nose on our noses to give kisses when we met. Everyone who met him fell and love and felt he was more of a dog than a cat. He was there through med school, our wedding day, residency, fellowship, moving x 3, and Charlotte & Addie’s arrivals. He took it all in stride and was sweet to everyone…even to all the other pets the girls convinced us to bring home over the years. I know he’s up in heaven enjoying all of the window seats, soft blankets, wrapping paper, bows, carpet trees, greenies, butter, milk and foil balls. We love you buds and were lucky to spend the last 15+ years with you!Jacqueline NicholasNew Albany, OhioMay 25, 2020
Babie J
12/24/2005 - 5/11/2020When I rescued Babie J in 2014 it turned out that she rescued me. She was my constant companion. I am retired and was able to be with her 24/7 and where I went she went. She was true angel, she gave me an unconditional love I never had in my whole life. I spoiled her rotten and she deserved it. I am so lost without her and she will remain in my heart forever. I love you and miss you my sweet girl. Thank you God for giving her to me.Linda EngbergElkton, FloridaMay 25, 2020
Steven
3/6/2011 - 5/22/2020Steven was the “bestest” boy, always wanting to be near us, wanting a snuggle, needing to touch us. He was made of love.Carolyn LanglinaisThe Woodlands, TexasMay 25, 2020
Wobble
4/1/2004 - 5/23/2020Today we had to say goodbye to our sweet wobbly cat WOBBLE. We have been lucky to have spent sixteen years with him and he has been a joy to us through our good and bad times. We will miss his wobbly ways so much and know that everyone that knew him knows what a special cat he was and how much we loved him.Jacqui FreemanKissimmee, FloridaMay 25, 2020
Sophia
3/3/2003 - 5/23/2020Our beloved verbal, sassy Sophie we miss your luxurious soft fur, snuggles and purrs. I no longer have my door greeter. We miss how you would pin us down so we’d have to ask the other to go fetch us things like a glass of water. I am so sorry you got so sick the last couple of years and how you would continue to play occasionally but when you couldn’t keep anything down anymore we knew it was time. It broke our hearts to watch to waste away to your tiny frame. You were so sweet snoring next to me every night and begging me to lie down when the baby went down for a nap. I pass our bedroom and expect to see you there all curled up into a tiny ball but you’re not there and then I remember that we said goodbye.Nicole OnkenSaint paul, MinnesotaMay 25, 2020
Rusty
2/6/2007You were our first Red Heeler and such a good boy to the two blue sisters. My birthday gift of thirteen years ago, the last of the true three mustketeers and longest to be at our current home. Always ready for a new adventure, wether it was the beach or trail ride, or to bite the mud flaps of any visiting truck, you will be sorely missed. Love you to moon and beyond, please give Sadie and Sylvie a kiss for me buddy and run free 🐾💕Anne WalkerLoxahatchee, FloridaMay 25, 2020
Brandy
12/19/2008 - 5/22/2020Brandy, our beautiful Newfoundland, passed away this Friday at the age of 12 ½.
It was over 10 years ago that we were searching for a Newfie rescue. We found Brandy through the NEWFFL rescue-she was just 2 at time. Just 2 months prior, we had adopted brother and sister Piebold Dachshunds; Brandy and the two Dachshunds were instant family.
Brandy was a beautiful girl…. loving and friendly to all…. a food hound too!!
When we walked her people would stop us to admire her, take a photo, or just ask about her temperament.
Sadly, Brandy’s other family members Oscar and Bella left us. In recent months Brandy’s health was on the decline and the last few weeks brought stress and strain on her, so it was time to let her go.
We will always remember our beautiful girl and miss her forever!

Kitkat
3/21/2003 - 5/23/2020It was my spouse Leslie who coaxed the stray little tabby from the backyard into the house, in 2003, and from that day on, she was Mom’s Cat.

KitKat took a place in our family feline hierarchy underneath senior Trilby, and we always called KK “the kitten,” even as she aged to 5, then 10, then 15.

Last July, after Trilby’s exceptional run ended at age 23, KitKat finally was Queen of the House. She reigned elegantly and affectionately, pleased to see Meredyth and Tyler when they visited, up for a chin-scratch from me, but plainly happiest when on Mom’s lap, or by her pillow, or with her playing toy mouse/toy fish toss. This spring, KitKat topped 17, becoming our second-oldest cat ever, in 35 years of marriage.

Long ago, KitKat was diagnosed with a heart murmur, leading us to expect that someday she’d go quickly from a cardiac event. As it turned out, her decline was more gradual — caused by some damn slow growth in her belly, inoperable for a cat of her age.

The only positive in that — during this bleak and uncertain year, we look for anything positive — is that we had weeks of time to scratch her chin, feed her treats, observe Mother’s Day (of course), take her out for a sit in the sun, say goodbye, and usher her quietly to the end, which came today, on the porch at home, just after 5pm.

We celebrate, albeit sadly, the long and loving life of our dear KitKat, a part of our family from 2003 to 2020, and always in our hearts.

Corbu
7/21/2004 - 5/23/2020Corbu faced several health challenges they past few years. He suffered from chronic kidney disease and partial paralysis from degenerative myelopathy, as well as some other issues. He used a wheelchair to walk since last summer. But despite it all he persisted. His determination was an inspiration to many who knew him and saw him on his daily walks in his wheelchair. Last week we learned that he had pancreatic cancer that had spread and treatment was not an option. He seemed to quickly decline, although on his last night with us he ate a piece of pizza and half of a rotisserie chicken. In the last years Corbu developed severe fear and anxiety going to any vet office. It was important to us that he pass in the comfort of his home surrounded by this family. It meant everything to be able to provide that for him. He was 2 months shy of his 16th birthday. We miss him terribly.Sybil SlavinRoseville, CaliforniaMay 24, 2020
Jax
5/22/2020Our Jax was a loving family member and friend to all who entered our house. He was 15 and he was the king of his castle. He loved to be with his family at all times. He loved everyone who came to the house, he would greet us when when came home and always was happy to see us. Jax loved to lay on the couch with us and loved to nap on the floor by the sun. He love his purple monkey that he would drag through the house. Jax will be missed by everyone but I know that he will always be in our hearts. Jax was a big beautiful tabby cat with beautiful green eyes. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure back in September and his kidney were starting to fail also. He was a fighter till the end. Jax passed on Friday, May 22. We love you Jax and will miss you forever, my big buddy❤️Karen RogersNorwood, PennsylvaniaMay 24, 2020
