Oliver
8/25/2002Oliver passed away peacefully, at home, in my arms on Tuesday. He had been my fur baby for over 17 years.

I’ve had other cats but I have never had the relationship with a pet that I did with Ollie. I got him when he was about 6 weeks old. He was this little, 2 lb ball or orange Fluff. He was the most vocal cat at Sicsa. He would cry whenever he was put back in his cage and reached out to grab me each time I walked by! He chose me! He is named after the children’s book, Orange Oliver: The Cat who Wore Glasses.

I couldn’t leave that tiny thing at home alone at a few months old - so he went to Florida with me - a few times- on the airplane and in the car! Yes- we drove 16 hours with a cat in the car- even staying overnight at a hotel. He did great!

It was just the two of us for a few years. When I had the flu, he went back and forth from the bed to the bathroom every hour all night long. He was either curled next to me in bed or sitting next to me on the bathroom floor. He never left my side.

Then we added Jason! There were lots of changes and he just rolled with it. New guy, new house, new dog (for a while). Then a baby! He always sat on my lap as close as possible to my face. Being pregnant was no different! He would lay across my belly and Avery would move so that she could be right under him. The night she came home from the hospital she screamed all night. Oliver was not happy! He would grab our pant legs in his teeth and pull on us and meow like “You need to DON SOMETHING about this!”

He survived another move, a diabetes diagnosis, and a new cat brother with no issues!

He was always very gentle with Avery. But when she was born her really turned into our protector. He would meet guests at the door- often by jumping up and smacking the window with his paws and hissing! What a welcoming committee! He would follow guests around - watching. He didn’t like it when people would chase Avery. He definitely made his presence known!

He was known for his sharp teeth! He has bit more than I can count. He sent my mom to the hospital with a bite when she tried to move him out of Avery’s room. He bit my dad, Jason, and many friends. He even bit the vet tech once (although that’s on her because I TOLD her to let me get him out of the carrier and she ignored me and reached in and put her hand in his face). He once trapped Laura in the basement when she was watching him while we were on vacation. He turned his back on my mom once when she was taking care of him. She was trying to talk to him and he turned his back to her and refused to look at her. He also walked my parents to the door one year after they had brought us home from the airport. He was ready for them to leave so he kept walking around their feet, going to the door, standing there and staring at them and doing it all over and over again until they got the hint and left! He could be a pill but that feisty personality just made me love him more!

He was always my baby. He would lay all over me- as close to my face as possible. If Spooky was on my lap, he would sit between Spook and my face- often sticking his booty in Spooky’s face. He would follow me around the house and he always met me at the door - Even when he was so sick he could hardly walk. Saying goodbye to him was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But I’m happy to know that he’s now at peace and I’m sure still watching over us from above.

You were the perfect dog for us and we are so honored that you were there that day at the pet adoption after all of the searching we did at the shelters in the area. Jill
4/20/2006 - 11/17/2019In loving memory of Jill...Your goofy, stubborn, and sometimes aloof presence will be forever missed. Thank you, Jill, for teaching us that unconditional love comes in many different forms and that despite our imperfections, there was always one member of the family there with the time and patience to lend an ear, a wet, sloppy, kiss and a tiny portion of her HUGE bed when times were tough. I hope that you know how much we all love you and that our lives will not be the same without you. We do take comfort in knowing that you are pain free and back to your beautiful, vibrant self. Watch for us, Jill, because you will be the first we will look for when that time comes.Angela CapelloDenham Springs, LouisianaNovember 18, 2019

Ben
5/19/2005 - 11/3/2019Ben was the sweetest, kindest, most curious, gentle, life loving dog I've ever known. Caring for him throughout his many years was a true privilege. Happy
4/22/2018 - 11/10/2019My Happy was one in a million - such a special boy. He lived up to his name and had the most amazing personality. So loving, funny and clever. He taught me to live in the moment, because I knew that every day with him was to be treasured. I will love and miss my beautiful boy forever - he owned my heart.Beverley CostelloGlen Cove, New YorkNovember 18, 2019
Otis
4/11/2006 - 11/10/2019Otis was the best. I've never known a nicer, or gentler dog. Whatever you wanted to do, he wanted to do. His favorite thing in the world was when Andrea would come home from work. All he wanted was to be by her side, day and night. I've never known a more loyal and loving companion. We were lucky to have him in our lives for several years, and just wish we had more time with him... He truly was a lovable bundle of joy. We'll never forget you, Otis. You made the world a brighter place. I was a better person because of you.

Pepper
2/26/2019 - 10/27/2019With each passing day, I miss my sweet little Pepper more. She was my little feline daughter from the time she was seven weeks old until the day she died. She was loquacious, graceful and utterly devoted to me. She brought so much love into my home and my love for her will never end.Susan WolfsonGlendale, CaliforniaNovember 17, 2019
