Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Otis
8/11/2020 - 2/1/2020Otis was an amazing dog and our best friend. He was the first dog we adopted as a couple and experienced every major milestone in our lives. He was there when we first got married, bought our first home together and got to see all three of our children. We included him in all our adventures throughout the 10 years we spent with him. Every person that met him instantly fell in love. It's been hard watching him age the last few years and seeing him slow down. It was extremely difficult to make the decision for him not to be psychically with us anymore but we felt that Otis deserved the dignity to go out on top. There's a huge hole in our lives right now and the sadness and pain is deep. We are finding some peace that Otis left this world in the best way possible, peacefully in front of a cozy fire, with music playing and us holding him while he took his last breath. Otis you will forever be a part of this family and in our hearts. Thank you for choosing us and thank you for all the love.Emilie GiordanoDenville, New JerseyFebruary 3, 2020
Shadow Motta
7/1/1995 - 12/10/2019We were so lucky to adopt Shadow from the Rappohanock Animal Welfare League (RAWL) when he was 4 months old. He was sweet, smart, brave, loyal and completely irrepressible, even when walking became more difficult for him toward the end. He was in integral part of our family and our kids' childhoods-- he saw them off to daycare and romped around Hunter Mill Country Dayschool when they were young, walked down the path to elementary school with them, visited the barn, accompanied them on the Halloween rounds - always dressed a human, did agility with 4-H, did some dog-sledding on snow days, and saw them off to college when they were in their teens and early 20's. He was always happy to sleep with anyone having a nightmare, was great running companion for me (even though he was much faster than me) and a wonderful older brother to Pandora (taught her to use "the bell" to go out, etc). We will miss you Shadow, but so glad you enriched our lives for so long.Michelle and Marcus MottaFAIRFAX, VirginiaFebruary 3, 2020
Shilo
10/31/2009 - 2/2/2020Shilo truly was the best boy anyone could ask for. He was so smart, he could even open doors when we closed him out. He never met a person he didn't like, and he was so trusting of everyone. He was my first dog, and will always hold a very special place in my heart. It's so quiet without him.. this emptiness I feel inside me keeps growing and growing. The only bit of happiness I can find in this is that he's not in pain anymore, and he's chasing rabbits up by the rainbow bridge.Kelly SkipperMaryville, TennesseeFebruary 3, 2020
Chester
10/23/2001 - 1/30/2020Late this morning, our hearts lost a big light as we said goodbye to a special part of our little family - Chester ("Lady"). As she laid in my lap and gently and quietly fell asleep, she was surrounded by all of her family - Ryan, Sheila, and Marlin.

As I sat there looking at her adoption paperwork from October 23, 2004, my heart swelled with gratitude that the Universe brought us together, and allowed us to be there for each other for so long. On the application where it asked, "Why do you want to adopt?" I answered, "Because I fell in love with her." It could not be more true. In an instant, before I'd even held her, I knew she was coming home with me. Our hearts were meant to be together.

I am grateful for so many memories, so many cuddles, her gentle purrs, her greeting me when I walked in the door, and so much more. I know it will take awhile before I stop looking for her around the house, or wishing I could hear her purring softly next to me. Luckily, I have so many photos and videos that will bring her back to me whenever I want.

After going out for a long afternoon drive, on the way home as the clouds parted, a small rainbow emerged from the clouds and stayed visible for the whole ride home. I know it was her, letting me know she'd made it safely to her new comfy place to rest.

We all love you so much sweet Lady. There will never be another kitty like you. Sleep well, my dear dear friend.

Coral (carl) Wilber
8/7/2007 - 1/31/2020Coral was a good dog. He came into my life when I was 25 years old while he was a 3 month old puppy. He was around to see me and my wife Sarah join up and was there to see us bring two beautiful children into the world. He was always very kind to people and especially children. He was always full of energy and would join the family in the backyard to get involved every time we went out. I'm extremely grateful for the time I was able to spend with him in his 12.5 year life, and I will miss him dearly.Adam WilberHenderson, NevadaFebruary 2, 2020

Miley O’malley
7/1/2009 - 1/31/2020Miley was my family’s pride and joy and first rescued dog. Miley had such a gentle way and patients about her. She loved sitting in the sun and taken a dip in the pool. Chasing ground hogs and Playing with Clancy are other dog and teaching him patients ! My mother couldn’t get enough of Miley, she would always have a treat for her. They would hang out together for hours! My mom passed a year ago and I know, they are together again , sitting in the sun and having treats. Miley is with her old pal Rinca and will meet Keeva are other 2 dogs! Until we meet again Miley, Clancy and I will hold the fort down!!

Floyd
9/3/2006 - 1/30/2020Floyd, my precious Cairn Terrier, passed away after a 16 month battle with multiple myeloma cancer. He was diagnosed on September 14, 2018 and I thought I only had a few weeks left with him. His veterinarian and the oncology teams at Blue Pearl and Advanced Veterinary Care created a very good treatment plan for him and encouraged me to give treatment a try. Doctors thought the chemo would give him a very quality 6-9 months of life, and I asked the Universe to bless me with just one good year with him. To everyone’s surprise, he actually made it 16 months. He passed away on Thursday peacefully and with no pain.

Words cannot express my love for Floyd. He taught me lessons about unconditional love, how to give and receive affection, how to live more in the moment, and how to be a positive, strong fighter.

Everyone who met him instantly adored him. He was a furry ball of goodness and light.... and my world is a little dimmer without him in it.
