Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Church
1/1/2008 - 11/2/2019Church was a cool cat that loved everyone. He was diagnosed with an abdominal mass just five weeks ago, and was declining quickly. We were so blessed to have Lap of Love provide him with a dignified passing. He was able to spend his last moments in peace with us in our garden.Laura DornerSaint Petersburg, FloridaNovember 4, 2019
Tulip
4/2/2002 - 10/30/2019My loved and cherished companion who died almost 7 months after her sister. They graced my home and my life for many years. Tulip was sweet and funny, and so affectionate. She lay beside me in bed, purring, sometimes rubbing her face against mine. In her younger days she was frisky and playful. She was a great lover of food of all kinds, and hopeful about scoring a bit of people food every now and then and jumping on my lap on top of whatever book I might be reading. As an old lady she spent her days on my bed, often lying on my pillow. It is so hard to come into my quiet house at night, to not hear her little footsteps, and to climb into an empty bed without the sound of purring, and the soft little body beside me.Betty CanickBoston, MassachusettsNovember 4, 2019

Jake
2/1/2007 - 11/1/2019Saying goodbye is the toughest day when you rescue a dog. There are no words, no script. You feel it deep in your gut and it hurts. Jake gave us 7 and half years. He was almost 13 years old. Great Danes only live 7-10 years. I think God blessed us. He gave us a Angel who wouldn’t have lived more than a year when we rescued him at 5 years old. Yet his love to us and our commitment to him survived. Time passes slowly then it happens quick. There will be no other dog like Jake. A frame in our house with his picture reads who rescued who. He was beloved across South Florida. Thankyou Lori DesRuisseaux for the phone call in January of 2012 saying we got a Dane, you want him? Thankyou to the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast for bringing him out of harms way and shining a light on us to rescue him. Run wild with the angels and dogs in heaven and the treats they give you Jake. You deserve it. We were so blessed to be your parents. In the words of my sister. I think pets are like angels that God sends to us. They are heaven-sent and at some point they all have to go back to their heavenly home. He’ll always be with you.Jay CashmerePalm Beach Gardens, FloridaNovember 4, 2019
Cali
1/15/2001 - 11/2/2019Cali "Chicken", we are so fortunate to have been a part of your life and had the opportunity to be your caretaker. We will always miss how you greeted us in the morning, at the door, or at the food dish. We will miss sharing our dinner with you, sharing a our seat at the couch, and most of all sharing our time together. 18.5 years old is a long time for kitty, but it just never feels like enough now that your gone.

I will miss how you helped me tie my shoes in the morning or simply visited with me while I was working on various house projects or while sitting at the computer (I loved watching you chase the digital mouse). You were such a beautiful kitty both inside and out to everyone who walked through the door. You were one of the few to spend her most of her time with her humans any chance she could. For this, we are forever grateful.

Oreo
12/10/2003 - 10/31/2019The house feels empty but in time we will save another in your honor. You were my buddy, friend, protector you fit in with our family so well. Shea lost his hearing and we adopted you at 10 to be his buddy. You sure watched out for him. He crossed the bridge 2 1/2 years ago also with lap of love. I miss you more than you can imagine. Out daily drives to the park to visit your friends. Sneaking into foster room to eat the kitten food. We taught you how to walk up & down the stairs. I guess your first home was one level. You hid the pain of arthritis well never wanting to give up. Run free now I will see you again someday.Kathy DevaneySpringfield, PennsylvaniaNovember 4, 2019
Nikki
12/20/2007 - 9/8/2019When we realized that Nikki was sick we knew that we could not keep her alive with expensive treatments that would extend her life span without quality of life. We kept her happy, loved and comfortable until the day she was unable to eat or walk. This was our first experience with Lap of Love, through the recommendation of my son, who had also used them.

We have no regrets that we chose Lap of Love to come into our home and take Nikki to a better place with us holding her and helping her transition. The idea that this could have happened in a cold, sterile environment was never an option. Nikki knew where she was, and she knew we were holding her.

Stanley Aka Sir Stanley Roosevelt
9/28/2012 - 10/19/2019Sir Stanley, how we miss you so very much! The house is not the same without you. We miss you barking at the door when we get home from a long day at a work. We miss your whimpering outside of our bedroom door. We even miss your barks at 4am to let us know you need to go outside. Your fur-sister misses you playing with her (rare as it was!). You will forever be our little baby who left a big impact on lives. RIP little buddy. xoxoSarah HeepWildwood, MissouriNovember 3, 2019
Silver
2/1/2005 - 10/25/2019Best dog I've ever had. Super smart, TONS or personality. Photo is just days ago when he felt almost 100% before getting worse again. Looking out the window from the couch. That day we ate pizza for lunch. He was very excited, soon as I put it in the oven and closed the door he gave me a high five. Then did mini bounces. He was always so happy to see people, new or old and get pets and even better, treats!

Silver developed a lump weeks after we arrived in the Saint Louis area. Everyone said it was just a fatty lump and normal, test came back thinking it is but maybe it isn't. Lump grew to two inches in two months. The night it turned for the worst was a perfect night and day. I got him hyped up for his last walk of the day. He did his jump on jump off the couch with his front legs but didn't land on his feet but on his side, his lump. It exploded with in. We tried for a walk but soon after, the dog that had his scent gland explode, not give it a second thought, because he wanted to go for a walk...was in pain. I rushed him to the ER. They said he may not make it and must stay the night. I got no sleep but by 7 pm Sunday night, he was home in his bed. By Wednesday he was 100% and very happy. Wanted to walk up and down the steps him self. Jumping up onto the couch and bed for his naps. Thursday though was a different story. He started to not eat, Friday morning, he wouldn't except anything, no medicine for the pain, nothing. Friday when I got home from my half day, I knew it was time. I spent the whole week working from home with him, I was so thankful for this. By 3pm that day, the 25th of October. The doctor came to send him off. I made sure that he went out his way. Sitting up on the coffee table looking out the window. He was so happy and could see everything and the people walking by outside....

I'm going to miss this dog more then I should and it still won't be enough. He was amazing in every way. I'll miss you dooooode, my boy, Sliver..... My best friend, Silver.
