Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Michelle Bellville, DVM"We never thought we would be thanking a veterinarian for putting the love of our life to rest. Dr. Michelle Bellville came into our home and allowed us the opportunity to part ways with Dixie in the most heartfelt manor. The moment she walked into the door she was greeted by Dixie and they bonded immediately, I guided her through our home and showed her all of Dixie's special things and explained to her how courageous of a little pup she had been, fighting for her life with spunk, a sparkle in her eye and her tail wagging. We walked to our backyard and sat by the lake in Dixie's favorite spot, while Tracy Chapman played in the background we said our good-byes, during this moment things became critical and Dixie had encountered a seizure....... this confirmed that the timing was right and even Dr. Bellville shed a tear with us. Dixie may have lost her fight with cancer, but she did so in the comfort of her home, in the arms of her loved ones, with the wind blowing upon her face and the sun slowly setting. Though this was the hardest good-bye we have ever have encountered, Dr. Bellville gave us the comfort, and support that we desperately needed during this time. We now look at Dr. Michelle Bellville as Dixie's Angel whom took away her pain and guided her with the steps to heaven. We are ever so grateful to her and Lap of Love for such a compassionate and heart felt way to say good-bye to an extended part of your family though we still weep, Dixie has now left her paw print on our heart forever. Thank you Lap of Love, and Dr. Michelle Bellville for a service that is priceless, just as Dixie was to us."Mike & Suzanne HeffingerOrlando, FloridaOctober 6, 2012
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kim Simons, DVM"It was with remorse that I googled euthanasia for dogs at home and got to the website that eventually led me to Dr. Kim Simons.
I called and left a message and got a return call no later than 10 minutes afterwards. On the phone Dr. Simons was courteous and professional, yet warm and understanding, not pushy or indifferent.

After finally deciding to move forward with Kaya's appointment, she showed up on time. I was out in the park for Kaya's last walk and when she called, she was already in my driveway. I explained that I would be a few minutes and she patiently waited until I got home.

She sat down with us at home with our family and waited patiently until Kaya was quiet and I led her to our pool and she rested on her favorite rug. We talked for some time while I stroked Kaya's head and she gently administered the first shot. Kaya's slowly dozed off in a few minutes and when we were ready, she then gently administered the 2nd injection as we surrounded Kaya with warm affection. She simply breathed her last as if falling asleep.

Kim Simons stood out as a human being that afternoon. She interacted caringly with both our family and our dog. My grandkids had come over to say their goodbyes and her caring demeanor was evident through each step of the process.
I can't recommend her enough as a person and as a professional.
Thank you!"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Tiffany Mosley, DVM"Nearly 3 years ago, we had to have our cat, Nala euthanized due to cancer. At that time, I asked my vet if he would come to my house to do it. I'm an ex Hospice nurse and fully support the concept of people and pets being allowed to pass in the comfort of their own homes. I couldn't bear the thought of our poor little Nala having to spend her last minutes on earth doing two things she hated - riding in the car and going to the vet. My vet responded that he would stop by and euthanize Nala at home but I'd have to bring her in a couple hours earlier so they could start the IV in the office. This made no sense and defeated my purpose so we gave in and brought her there to be euthanized. After that, I vowed that it wouldn't happen again with my other pets.
When Maddy our almost 15 yr old lab mix's health started to deteriorate, I went online hoping there was some kind of hospice service for pets in my area. I was lucky to find Lap of Love and Dr. Mosley. She helped us in our hour of need and while we had hoped we could get a few more months with Maddy, it wasn't meant to be. She left us last Sunday morning and it was quiet and peaceful the way I wanted it to be for Nala three years ago. Thank you for all of your help Dr. Mosley. You helped us through a very difficult time. The way you treated our beloved Maddy even after she was gone - with respect and dignity meant a lot. I'm telling everyone I know about Lap of Love."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Melanie Cohen, DVM"It would require a book to say, how I feel about Dr. Melanie Cohen, and what she has done for me and my Cady. A most unbearable time in our life. She created an atmosphere of the highest level of compassion, respect, love and kindness, all the while having the skill and knowlege of one of the most amazing and understanding vets I have ever known. I cannot go into the level of loss I feel, as it is way too painful, but Dr. Melanie became my partner in compassionate/rational thinking at a time, that has been the hardest of my life. Good Bless you Dr. Melanie, for who you are....
.all of our love, Debbie and Cady."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dani McVety, DVM"Where to start, We were introduced to Dani through our vet in August of 2009 after our 12 year old Rottweiler, Dakota began to struggle despite 2 months of treatment. Our vet gave us Dani McVety's contact information and told us about her services. We made a brief call, and were immediately greeted with a compassionate, caring person. Despite two weeks of continued efforts to better Dakota...we finally decided that it was time to let him go. Dani McVety was nothing short of incredible, compassionate, caring, patient, and kind through the entire process.
Fast forward almost 2 years, and yesterday one of my best friends called about his Lab, Satchel. Satch had declined in health over the past 24 hours. I called the now established Lap of Love. This time getting Cherie Buisson. She was available within an hour of our call, and upon arrival...was also a compassionate and caring person.
Anyone who wants the VERY BEST for their animal during an emotional time, look no further than Lap of Love.
The best description I can give based off our experiences with the Lap of Love vet's Dani McVety & Cherie Buisson DVM.... Caring, Compassionate, Understanding, Calm, very empathetic and Re-assuring professional people who take pride in their service....ensuring that your pet receives a humane and non- traumatic path to the Rainbow Bridge."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Laura Devlin Bacon, DVM DABVP"In September of this year we found out our loving & sweet lab, MaggeeMae would not be able to recover from kidney problems any longer. That’s when I contacted Dr Laura. From the first time we talked about Magz I knew I had called the right person. She knew how hard of decision it was for us and her kindness & compassion let us know we were doing the right thing. Dr. Laura & Lap of Love was a true blessing for us & Magzee. She was able to pass at home peacefully and with us by her side, just the way it should be. We still miss sweet Magz terribly every day but have some comfort in knowing she left this world in the comfort of her own home being held and loved by her mom & dad. Thank you Dr. Laura & Lap of Love"Leah LGreenback, FloridaSeptember 13, 2012
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kim Simons, DVM"It has only been two days since I had to put my best friend to rest, and it has been one of the most difficult things I have ever had to deal with. After making the decision to put my boxer Maximus to sleep because of a degenerative disc disease which left him immobile (Although for the better part of a year he got along fairly well with a dog cart I constructed), I contacted Lap of Love to schedule an appointment. They promptly responded back to me, and said the local Veterinarian, Dr. Kim Simon, would be contacting me shortly to schedule the exact date. They were completely professional, courteous and completely sympathetic to my situation. After Dr. Simon called to schedule the appointment I had a few days to spend with Max, and when the day came to put him to rest I was anxious, nervous and utterly devastated to say goodbye. When Dr. Simon arrived she expressed her sorrow to my mother (as she came over to say goodbye to Max and support me)and I. Her compassion was unparalleled to any vet I have ever met before, and she helped me through the process, explaining what she was going to do and how it would affect my best friend. She gave me the time I needed to sit and talk to Max to comfort him and thank him for being there for me and loving me unconditionally over the years, and only when I was ready did she begin the process. Throughout it all, she helped me understand what was going on, and reassuring me that I made the right decision and that Max was going to a better place where he could run and play again like he always enjoyed doing. There were some laughs as we reflected back on good memories, and quite a lot of tears, but because of Dr. Simon and Lap of Love, I know that Max is in a better place now, and that performing this most difficult process at home instead of taking him to an office was the best choice I could have made. Thank you Lap of Love and especially Dr. Simon for being so caring and compassionate during such a difficult time."Adam ParkerLake Worth, FloridaSeptember 10, 2012
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Michelle Bellville, DVM"There are not enough positive words to describe Dr. Michelle or Lap of Love. Last month my husband and I decided it was time to let our Yorkie mix go. I spoke with Dr. Michelle on the phone and she let me know exactly what to expect. She came to our home in the evening so that we could both be with Pagan as she passed. Dr. Michelle explained every step and worked at our pace. My sweet Pagan passed peacefully in my arms. Dr. Michelle is the most compassionate vet I have ever met. It has been much easier to mourn Pagan's loss knowing that she was not scared when her time came. Thank you so much, Lap of Love and especially Dr. Michelle. We will never forget the love and support you showed to all of us."Kirsten C.Orlando, FloridaSeptember 6, 2012
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dani McVety, DVM"We just wanted to thank you for helping us make an incredibly difficult day more bearable. Though we had Licky for only a little more than two years after rescuing her from the shelter, it seemed as if she had been with us forever. She was our protector, our guardian, our best friend – whether you were 10 years old or in your 70s. She was the darling of the neighborhood – the only dog who would simply lay out in the front yard for hours, never on a leash. She loved to sprawl in the grass, smell the fresh air and watch the world go by. We always said she was the best dog in the whole, wide world. We called her the gentle giant’’ because while she sounded fearsome when someone knocked on the door, she always wanted to be petted by every schoolchild or every person whose path she crossed. It was very hard watching her go from a tennis-ball-chasing hound with boundless energy to a dog that had to struggle to get up and walk. She never left our side for those two years, and we wanted to be near her side as long as we could."Tampa, FloridaSeptember 6, 2012
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Cherie Buisson, DVM"Francis was a happy boy who loved wandering in the park, playing with his tennis ball and swimming. He injured his elbow as a puppy and even after surgery and countless other attempts to manage the problem, as he grew older his elbow pain became unmanagable and prevented him from doing the things he loved.
I talked with Dr.B and decided that I would try more medication to make Francis more comfortable and then finally decided after one month that although he was happy, he was in pain and it was unfair to continue on that path. His quality of life had changed because even though he was still willing to do the things he loved and I would allow him to do so every now and then, the large dose of medicine now required to keep him out of pain was too great.
So on the afternoon of January 19th, 2012 Dr. Buisson came out to the house to help Francis make his way to heaven. That morning I took Francis to the park to wander and play ball for the last time in that form. He was a very happy boy. He was home with his mini-weiner dog sister and his cats when Dr. B arrived.
Dr. B was wonderful, so very loving and kind. She sat with Francis on the floor while he rested in his bed and when he finally decided to surrender and go heaven Dr B. said when Francis wakes up in heaven there will be no more pain. Lap of Love is a wonderful service and needs to be expanded into all areas of the country. Most people don't know about this very affordable service and if they did they would never choose the clinical setting in a veterinary office unless forced to do so.
Me and the mini-weiner dog (Ali) miss Francis very much, we picked up his ashes today, one week after he went to heaven and will scatter them in several of the parks that Francis loved to visit and also in my garden.
All I can say is that I wish humans had this option because when Dr. Buisson wrapped Francis in a blanket that said Love & Dignity, that said it all.
Thank you Dr. B, we love you."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kim Simons, DVM"I have never been through this heartache before. Dr Simons was patient and kind and gave us all the time we needed. She did not rush us or judge us, she reassured us that Tiger needed our help to end his pain. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dani McVety, DVM"These are the kindest group of professionals anyone could ask to work with, come into your home and be a part of this most difficult time. We loved and will always love our precious 12 year old corgi, Moe. I spoke with Dr. Dani, Lisa and Dr. Nancy and I can't begin to thank them for their kindness and gentle ways. They helped make his passing so quietly and calmly and at the same time be a comfort to us.
Thank you to all of you."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kim Simons, DVM"We knew the day was approaching when we would have to help our beloved 18 1/2 year old cat, Missy, on her journey to peace, but we didn't expect it to be on an early Saturday morning when her regular vet's office was closed. I found Lap of Love's web site and Dr. Kim Simons. Her compassion, professionalism and sincere desire to help us as well as Missy made all the difference at this extremely difficult time. The entire experience was calm and peaceful from beginning to end. Missy never felt fear or stress but only the love of her family holding her in our arms. I thank Dr. Kim for everything she did for us and our cherished Missy and only wish that all pets could have as beautiful and peaceful end to their lives. Thank you for the wonderful service you provide."Linda CBoca Raton, FloridaAugust 9, 2012
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Marguerite Voorhees, DVM"After 14 1/2 years, my sweetest boy Gus was giving in to age and infirmity. I could no longer ask him to fight a losing battle. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, but I knew his last moments had to be at home. Dr Voorhees was so kind and compassionate. She explained everything and went out of her way to understand my feelings, as well as Gus'. I am heartbroken without him, but know he went without pain and in peace."Susan AVenice, FloridaAugust 7, 2012
Lap of Love Veterinarian: David Rousseau, DVM"After finally making this tough decision for my 22 year old kitty Dewey, it was a blessing to have Lap of Love available and Dr. David Rousseau to help through such a tough time. It is very comforting to know Dewey’s long life ended peacefully surrounded by compassion and kindness. I know Dewey’s last breath was a sigh of relief from old age and of a life well lived. Thank you doesn’t seem adequate enough to express my appreciation, but Thank You from the bottom of my heart for making this sad time manageable."Diane SBrighton, MassachusettsAugust 6, 2012
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Juliana Lyles, DVM"We had to say goodbye to our precious Winston this week. We could not be more grateful to Dr. Juliana Lyles for the help she gave us. Her obvious veterinary expertise and calming nature helped to put us all at ease. She gave Winston a thorough exam so that we could make an informed decision that it was, in fact, his time to go to heaven. She patiently guided us through the process and treated Winston, and us, with such kindness and dignity. We will be forever grateful to Dr. Lyles for the help she gave our family."Gail C.Glencoe, IllinoisAugust 3, 2012

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Michelle Bellville, DVM"Thank you Dr. Michelle for giving us the gift of allowing our Tiger to be put to sleep in his home. You eased this difficult decision by assuring us that we were doing the right thing. And you went the extra mile by letting us know you checked him twice before you left him. We are grateful for your compassion and care."Susan OOrlando, FloridaJuly 31, 2012
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dani McVety, DVM"My experience was the same as Mike from Tampa who beautifully articulated the experience. Angel was a beautiful border collie inside and out. She gave us years of unconditional love and she will go on living in our hearts, always. She was my husband’s cherished friend until he passed away 5 years ago. Then she became mine. Now she is back with Daddy playing in the golden fields. You gave her the beautiful goodbye that she deserved Dr. Tracy...Thank You from the depths of my heart!!!!"Peggy DGulfport, FloridaJuly 31, 2012
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dani McVety, DVM"There is hardly anything more difficult than to say that last goodbye to your ailing animal companion. This decision, and the final act of love and duty that we owed our dog, Tess, was beautifully and compassionately supported by Dr. Dani McVety. That Tess's last moments were spent at home, safe and secure in our arms and in Dr. Dani's peaceful care, bestowed calm and reassuring closure on us all. It was as it should be: a painless and gentle passage to Dog Heaven for Tess, and a lifetime of happy memories to be cherished always by her human companions. Thank you, Dr. Dani McVety and Lap of Love."Mike PTampa, FloridaJuly 26, 2012

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Melanie Cohen, DVM"I cannot express how thankful I am to Lap of Love and Dr. Melanie Cohen. When I spoke to Melanie on the phone for the first time, I felt like we really connected, and there was no one else I would rather have had to help with Penny's passing. Penny hated car rides and had stressful vet visits in the weeks leading up to her passing, so I knew when I found Lap of Love that I wanted her to be comfortable and in her own surroundings when the time came. Penny sat in my lap the entire time, and it was so peaceful. While I wish I could have had her for more time, her passing was all that I could have asked for. Dr. Melanie was so compassionate and sat with me, Penny, and the friends who were there with us and talked with us for a time beforehand. She really made it a beautiful experience."Melanie CohenHyattsville, MarylandJuly 19, 2012
