Dr. DaneWe had lost three pets in the last five years, all in fairly traumatic circumstances and none at home. Each loss left us and our other pets disoriented, confused, and without closure. Our lovely old man Tater Tot deteriorated quickly, and we were faced with an awful choice: subject him to stressful and painful treatment that in the best case scenario wouldn't give him much more time, without us by his side, or take him home to be with his family. We had never had the opportunity to give our pets a peaceful death, but we knew it was the right thing for him. I could not have imagined in a million years how compassionate, accommodating, and thoughtful the people at Lap of Love would be. The whole process is very obviously set up with love and lived experience informing every step. We were very concerned that we wouldn't be able to get someone to our home for several days because of an impending snowstorm, but they were able to schedule us for the following day. We were worried we wouldn't be able to get in touch with them quickly because we got home from the emergency vet at nearly midnight, but they have a 24/7 phone line. Every tiny step is so thoughtful and provides options to make the experience right for your family. Dr. Dane was incredibly kind to us, not only answering our questions thoroughly and treating our boy with great care but stepping outside twice so we could bring our dog in to say goodbye both before and after Tater Tot passed. I was deeply touched by the basket with comfy blankets that he had to carry Tater Tot outside in. Losing Tater Tot was awful, but having the opportunity to let him go so gently in the comfort of his own home is a gift that I will always be grateful for.

Her ability and competence reassured us that we were there for Zeke. The preparation resources were helpful, and the after care resources are comforting.
