Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Amanda Page, DVM"From the moment we realized Ivy was near her time to cross rainbow bridge, we prayed for her to leave us peacefully in her sleep, rather to than have to make that last final decision in her best interest. We decided on a few signposts to guide us--if she stopped eating (not letting her to starve to death); if she quit drinking water (not letting her dehydrate to death); if she could not control her bowel movement or hold her bladder (not robbing her of dignity); or if she could no longer walk with our assistance ( no longer had a quality of life). At twelve years, nine and a half months, the day before we crossed her over the rainbow bridge, she lost all mobility. It was a beautiful day in our SOCAL neighborhood, and Ivy had visitors in her favorite yard in front of our house until sundown. She ate her favorite human foods all day including vanilla ice-cream. We had to prop her up, as she was too weak when a day earlier she had walked outside in the morning, as wobbly-legged as she was.

We had Dr. Amanda Page over to meet Ivy, to hear a Reader's Digest version of Ivy's life story, and to relax her for her journey beyond this life. We loved Ivy through with our hands massaging her until she was gone. We helped her on a stretcher and helped to place her in the vehicle Dr. Page has set up for this service. Everything was done with compassion, and professionally managed to every little last detail. We have a clay paw print taken of Ivy to keep from that day. We would do it all over again just the same, as Ivy deserved all that we did, and we would recommend Dr. Amanda Page to you."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Melanie Santspree, DVM"There are not enough words to describe how thankful and how grateful I am that Dr. Melanie came to the house to send my girl Brinkley to the bridge. From the first hug until the last hug, she made such a difficult decision, not easier, but much better to cope with. She made a heartbreaking situation easier and she was understanding and so compassionate. Her genuineness speaks volumes the minute you meet her. Her love and compassion shine through in the difficult work she does. She explains everything from the minute she walks in the door. Its a gift and its recognized very early on as you talk to her. As heart shattering as the decision was, she made it easier for me to say goodbye to my heart and soul Golden Retriever, Brinkley. Brinks and I had a very very special bond. I rescued her at ten weeks old and we had many many years together so saying goodbye was very difficult but Dr. Melanie made it easier to cope. There is not enough gold in the world to say how grateful I am that she came to the house yesterday. I will recommend her to all of my friends who have animals. This is how everyone should say goodbye to their furbabies. She is the best!!! Brinkley went peacefully, and at home with people who loved her and I am so glad Dr. Melanie was there to help us send her to the bridge."Donna SullivanAlbany, NYApril 1, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Laura Porta, DVM"Today was the day we let our fur kid go. It was not an easy decision to make, but in the end we realized he had been letting us know it was time. For 10 1/2 years, Rocky brought us joy, laughter, happiness and loyalty. He earned every one of the tears we've shed and no doubt will continue to shed for some time. From the moment I made the call, I was treated with compassion and caring even though I was crying throughout the phone call. I received an email right after my call, explaining what would happen. Dr. Porta called when she was about a half hour out, and from the moment she came into the house to meet Rocky, she made him comfortable and passed the Rocky Test. Our furry paperweight got to be in his own home, surrounded by his family, comfortable and secure. He got to lay in his favorite place looking out the door hearing our voices to the end. We weren't hurried or rushed and she let us make the call for the final shot, giving us the time we needed. She brought the stretcher in for him and we placed him on in it and tucked him in with his blanket and we carried him out. As painful as the decision was to make, using Lap of Love allowed us to give Rocky the gentle and painless death he earned and deserved. I am so glad that Lap of Love was there for us and would unreservedly recommend them to anyone else faced with making this decision. Dr. Laura was kind an compassionate and I'm so glad she was there for us. Thank you...."Kristina AllderWyandotte, MichiganApril 1, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Annie Dion-Byrd, DVM"This was by far the hardest decision that I have ever had to make... At the start of March Hawkeye was to go in to get his teeth cleaned but when the blood work came back so elevated was told he had kidney issues and was going to have to stay for fluids,3 days later I brought him home.. then the nest Tuesday we went back for a check up with even worse results and had to do fluids for him at home.. And yet another visit to the same vet no better results so at this time I decided to get a second opinion..At least this vet was totally honest about Hawkeye's condition, which was not what I wanted to hear but had to. I could prolong his life with very intense home care and pills followed with a blood transfusion ,what kind of live would that have been for him to have to go through and still not have a long healthy life... I cried more tears with him still by my side and could see in his little beautiful eyes that he didn't want to go through that or have his mommy worry about him when at work.. So we call the vet and they put me in touch with lap of love. Dr.Annie was the most compassionate person other then Hawkeye's many friends. She welcomed all of us and explained step by step what was about to happen and made sure if we had questions to ask..when we were ready she proceed and gave me some of his hair along with his paw print.. This wasn't easy but with the help of DrAnnie it was so very special.. He was cremated and is at home now resting in peace... remember to love them is to let them Rest In Peace. They will always be in your heart and soul forever and ever... thanks so much to lap of love and wonderful Dr. Annie bless you all.."Suzee GlassApopka, FloridaApril 1, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dawnetta Woodruff, DVM"We are so thankful for Dr. Dawnetta and Lap of Love for giving us the gift of being with our 18 year old cat, Emmylou, at home at the end of her life. Everyone in the family got to say goodbye in their own way. Emmylou was not stressed by a trip to the vet, which she always disliked. I also appreciate that my kids had the experience of being part of compassionate care for an elderly family member. Our experience from calling to set up the appointment to the arrival of Dr. Dawnetta and our last moments with Emmylou were respectful, kind, and caring. Thank you to all."Katy Friedman MillerSt. Louis, MissouriApril 1, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dawnetta Woodruff, DVM"We were so fortunate to learn about Lap of Love from our vet when our cat, Winston, took a turn for the worst, having diabetes and other health issues that began to mount. Although he was a trooper (he was 18 years old), it was obvious his health was faltering and it was time to say farewell, a very difficult but necessary decision. Dr. Dawnetta came to our home and immediately established a bond with us. She was so kind to our beloved pet, so sensitive and reassuring to us. She prepared us well for the procedure, and listened intently to our stories about Winston. She never hurried, and sensed when it was time for our final goodbyes. She handled him delicately and his passing was very peaceful. She left us with precious mementoes -- a lock of his beautiful hair, a soft stuffed cat with wings, his paw print in clay. That very evening we received another wonderful keepsake via email, a memorial of Winston. It was amazing how she captured his life and uniqueness, remembering all we had told her.
Dr. Dawnetta, we will never forget what you did for our precious pet and for us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Steven Schultz, DVM"We sadly had to lay our dog to rest following the birth of our daughter. Our dog, who was our first little love, always had issues with aggression and she had a hard time adjusting to life with a newborn. While I never imagined not having my little fur baby with us, I cannot tell you how kind and loving Lap of Love was during this terribly difficult time. Dr. Steven drove an hour to my parent's house to help us and was patient, kind and compassionate. While our hearts are feeling empty today, we couldn't have been more grateful to the peaceful and respectful experience Lap of Love gave our Olive."Brittany FreyWilliamsville, NYMarch 31, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Annie Dion-Byrd, DVM"My 17 year old cat Trixie, had been ill for a few weeks but she was still eating, and enjoying life, but one day everything went downhill very fast and I knew that she needed help. I tried calling different vets, but everyone in my town had already closed, but I did find one in Orlando, and when I tried to put Trixie in the car she became so distressed, I knew she wouldn't survive the ride. I was so overwhelmed I didn't know what to do, so I started calling different mobile units and came across Lap of Love. The person on the phone was very kind to my situation and said that Dr. Annie would be there that evening. When Dr. Annie arrived, I knew right away that everything would be ok, and that Trixie was in the best care possible. Dr. Annie explained the procedure, and gave me comfort, and piece of mind, and she was very compassionate to me, and my son, and was very concerned, and loving to Trixie. Dr. Annie gave me a paw print, and some of Trixie's hair in remembrance, and Trixie was asleep by the time of the procedure, and was soon at peace. I am very grateful to Dr. Annie for her help, and on that day an angel came into my life and helped me during a very heartbreaking time. Thank you Dr. Annie, I will always remember you, and your kindness to our best friend Trixie."Mary YoungSt. Cloud, FloridaMarch 31, 2017

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Heather Manfredi, DVM"Dear Dr Heather Manfredi,
We were blessed when you came into our lives during such a heartbreaking time. I prayed for peace and I got you, an answered prayer. You made something that was so painful more bearable. My beloved Copper needed someone with your compassion and warm heart. You cried with me and that is something I can never forget. Your love that you showed us can never be repaid . I was able to be with my beloved fur baby at the time when he needed me the most. I needed to hold him close and with your help I was able to do that. My heart is raw but I have peace knowing that he was treated with the upmost kindness and care from you. Thank you for what you gave us."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Steven Schultz, DVM"Dr. Steve was wonderful, explained everything we should expect, gave us the time we needed and by far it was the best decision we could have made by calling Lap of Love.
Besides leaving us with a paw print and lock of hair from Cali, today we received a personally hand written condolence card from Dr. Steve and a compassionate email from Laurie at Lap of Love. Having gone through this process with other loved ones at the Veterinarian's Office, I would HIGHLY recommend to everyone to use Lap of Love."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dana Lewis, DVM"We were very impressed by Lap of Love. Our sweet kitty had to be euthanized because of an aggressive cancer - we could not let her suffer more - but was extremely vet averse. It was our nightmare that her final minutes would be in a state of panic. Dr Dana Lewis cam to our house, and handled it with extreme sensitivity and care. Our kitty died peacefully and quickly. It was not stressful for any of us. We would use the service again, and recommend it to anyone."Kathleen SmithChapel Hill, North CarolinaMarch 30, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kristina Kalivoda, DVM"Dr. Kristina was simply wonderful with us yesterday. I was very emotional, and Dr. Kristina was caring, sensitive, and even shared some laughs with us. She was flexible, as I asked to carry Taffy from our house to her car after she had passed, and Dr. Kristina welcomed that. Taffy's passing seemed graceful, easy, peaceful, loving, and comfortable thanks to her. Taffy probably would have picked Dr. Kristina and this Lap of Love method if she were able to talk to us. Thank you, Dr. Kristina! You made our pain and healing that much easier."Anna WeinsteinWilmette, IllinoisMarch 30, 2017Taffy Apple's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dawnetta Woodruff, DVM"Dawnetta was a amazing with Sissy. She really understood and cared about the tough decision we had to make to let Sissy be free. Dawnetta was compassionate, kind, empathetic and explained everything she was going to do to help my girl go in peace. She also made a paw print which was something very special for me. Thank you for providing a service that lets our animals be set free in their home."Sherri StanleyHighland, IllinoisMarch 30, 2017Sissy's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"Making the decision to call Lap of Love was one of the most heart wrenching things we have ever done. My dog was in pain and we did not want to cause him any more stress. Vet trips caused him severe anxiety yet we were also concerned about his territorial nature when a stranger comes into our home. We explained this to Dr. Brad and he knew exactly how to handle the situation. He was an angel, he listened and knew exactly what we needed to hear and understand. He made an unbearable situation peaceful and left us touched by his devotion.

With Sincere Appreciation,

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jessica Spitzer, DVM"Dr Jessica came to our house at 9:00 PM after a long day of work in a clinic an hour away from our home. She was very professional and loving as she took care of our Cody. She was sensitive to our emotional state and took the time to comfort us. I'm happy she took a paw print for us and we have a bit of his fur that she cut for us. It gives me comfort to look at his paw print. We can never thank her enough. She made a horrible time bearable."Eileen TaylorOjai, CaliforniaMarch 29, 2017Cody's Pet Memorial

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Erin Deveau, DVM"Dr. Erin was really terrific. Letting poor Maggie go was and still is very difficult but our family could not think of a more perfect and thoughtful way for it to happen. Dr. Erin was so sincerely thoughtful, kind, and caring. She made the whole experience special and memorable in the right way. Maggie was in the comfort of her own home surrounded by those who love her and passed peacefully and comfortably. I am very grateful for Dr. Erin, and for Lap of Love. Their support made a huge difference to our family in this tough time.

Thank you, and with love to all pet lovers,

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Katie Stender, DVM"Our experience putting our beloved cat of 22 years, Leo, to sleep was more comforting and tender than I ever could have possibly imagined. Dr. Katie Stender arrived and took time getting to know us and Leo. She listened to our Leo stories, met our other cats, and absorbed our grief. She gave us sacred time to work up to the big moment. She cried with us as we all stroked Leo and told him how loved he was. She gently explained everything as it was happening and told us what to expect. She stayed after he was gone and continued to hold space for our sadness. She also sent the sweetest follow up card and email. You can tell that every ounce of her being is invested in what she does and that she suffers right alongside all pet owners as they make the hardest decision ever to let a family member go. Hopefully we will not need her services again, at least not for another 20 years...but if we did, we would call her in a heartbeat. I can't say enough good things about euthanizing your pet at home where you are free to cry, howl, stroke your pet all evening after they are gone, surrounded by candles and music, (we buried Leo at home on our large rural property). We didn't have to drive him to the vet and further stress him out. He was allowed to lie quietly in his bed surrounded by familiar scents and sounds. We didn't have to drive home in a car as we sobbed or leave him behind growing cold without us. We could grieve honestly and openly for our loss and focus all of our energy on his safe, peaceful transition to the next realm. We had all the time in the world to process letting him go and it gave us such peace and comfort. Thank you, Dr. Katie, for being the special human you are and for honoring your calling to help our pets transcend! You are a very special soul and we are so grateful to have shared one of our saddest days with you!"Anne DixonJacksonville, FloridaMarch 28, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Heather Manfredi, DVM"Thank you is not nearly enough to express my family's gratitude for Dr Heather and the entire Lap of Love team. When I first called Lap of Love, the caring and respect was just amazing. I immediately knew we were making the right choice. You were all patient, understanding and informative. When Dr. Heather came to our door, our fears were eased. Heather clearly loves animals and their humans. She gave us all the time we needed, talked to us about our Maggie, walked us carefully through the process and continued to remind us of the gift we were giving our beloved family member. She talked to us like we had been friends for years, and we didn't even realize that she was also respectfully gathering information to share with the world in a beautiful online tribute.

Thank you so much for everything, we could not have made a better choice for our Maggie.
