Thank you so much for your time with molly and I. You know they count on us to not let them suffer and continue to go on in pain. They count on us to let them go with dignity. To go with their boots on!! Thanks again.
Dr. Alex was truly amazing. I believe this sacred work of mercy is her calling. She, her continual communication during the process, & genuinely joyous heart, was of great comfort to us. ๐๐ผ
In late June, I saw a FB ad for Lap of Love and filed it away "for later". Unfortunately, later came much sooner than we had anticipated. Our beloved 14 yr old rescue dog, Colt, had been diagnosed in March with a severe collapsed trachea (which we had never heard of, until the day that he developed a serious cough). With vet care and meds, he was pretty stable for the next few months during a cool spring. Once hot, humid weather took hold, he seemed less well, experiencing a return of the bad cough and general discomfort. When he started fighting pill administration and stopped eating, we knew that it was time to let him go. The person at Lap of Love who took my call was very kind and efficient, making an appointment for euthanasia the following day. Dr. Nicole was compassionate and sympathetic. She talked softly to Colt who was relaxed and comfortable in his bed, and allowed us to talk about our time with him and what he had meant to us. We adopted him as an older dog (8 yrs) and we were a family for almost 6 more. Because we are retired, we spent a lot of time together and he was integrated into every aspect of our lives. Dr. Nicole explained the process and we were able to see that Colt was calm and peaceful, which is the kind of goodbye that we wanted for him, even though it broke our hearts. After he was under some sedation, my husband and I were able to hold him on our sofa while Dr. Nicole took a paw print and some locks of hair. When he was very sedate, she gave the final shot. It was over quickly, but we didn't feel that Colt was in any distress and for that we are very grateful. We were able to stay with him for a bit and then carried him outside to the car for a final goodbye. We would highly recommend Dr. Nicole to make a very sad process as easy as it could be. A week later, we received a nice personal card from her which we really appreciated.
Words truly cannot describe how incredible Dr. Dawn was. She brought an immense amount of patience, and peace to me. I truly struggled with this decision and she didnโt pressure me she let me share my feelings and she assessed and gave me the education without pressure. You will always second guess yourself if youโre doing the right thing. But Dr. Dawn allowed me to feel at peace with the decision. She allowed me to cry without embarrassment, allowed me to grieve and give all the love I wanted to. It was on my time and Weebayโs time. I have had lap of love come before and will always recommend them. Dr. Dawn is truly special and kind and so warm. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do.
