Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"Dr. Walters,

I am so very glad that you emailed! I've been wanting to tell you what a beautiful thing it was that you did for us. Even my mom (who is not an animal person) was blown away at how respectfully you treated the whole situation and the kindness you showed. I think maybe she saw a little of the impact that pets can have and how much it means.

Thank you for the Memorial link. I will definitely check it out and I have a couple of things in mind myself. I will be sure to let you know. And I will be telling everyone I know about Lap of Love.

Thank you,"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Maggie Mottram""On Sunday, May 10th, we made the heartbreaking and devastating decision to end the suffering of our sweet boy, Rio. Rio was like a child to us, and we struggled greatly with making the decision. After holding out hope we would be able to help him get better, we were faced with the reality that it just wasn't possible, and we could not stand to see him suffer another day of pain. Dr. Maggie came to our home and was an angel the moment she walked in the door. Rio went right to her, she loved on him and made him feel so comfortable and safe. She let him sniff all of her things and talked so soothingly to all of us, making sure we understood the process lovingly. She listened to my husband and I talk about all we had been through and how much we loved him, and never once made us feel we needed to hurry up or were taking too much time.

We gave Rio one of his favorite little bones to eat, and while he sat down to enjoy it, Dr. Maggie gave him a little shot to help him relax. The way she did it, he didn't even mind it. That shot allowed our sweet boy to actually relax, for the first time in so long, and truly enjoy eating that bone. He had been unable to sit next to us and allow us to touch him without pain, and that shot gave the three of us several precious and unforgettable minutes of peace and love together that I will cherish forever. After eating his bone, Rio fell into such a peaceful sleep, snoring lightly like he used to do when he felt better and was comfortable. Only then did Dr. Maggie begin the secondary process of accessing a vein, which she made a point to do in a way that did not interrupt my husband and I continuing to pet and love on him, telling him how very much we loved him and what an amazing boy he had always been to us.

Our baby, Rio, left his pain and suffering behind here, listening to music that he loved, in an atmosphere he felt comfortable and safe in. He didn't have the stress of a car ride, and the knowledge he was at a clinic yet again. He was home, where he belonged, and where he was happiest, with the people he loved and who loved him so desperately in return. We had several minutes alone with him after he crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and we were able to grieve with him privately during that time. Dr. Maggie came back into the home with a beautiful basket and blanket, which we placed Rio on and continued to love on him. Dr. Maggie treated Rio with such love, such respect, and comforted us the entire time, letting us know we had done the right thing. She also made us a clay paw print and collected a lock of his hair for us to keep and treasure.

Shortly thereafter, Dr. Maggie sent us an email, checking in to see how we were and thanking us for giving her the chance to get to meet our sweet boy. We were having such a hard time finding a way to begin to move forward, and she anticipated that. She suggested we consider making a memorial, and provided the link for us to see what others were posting about their own losses. It was exactly what we needed to start the process of finding a way to cope with our loss. Our lives will never be the same, we will always miss that wonderful boy, but we take comfort in knowing that we were able to give him the honor and gift of being where he would most want to be, with the people he adored, when it was time for him to go home. The hardest day of our lives with him was also the most beautiful, because we were all together as he passed, and we knew he felt loved and cherished. There are no words to express our gratitude.""

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Maura Lehmann"Thank you so much to Dr. Maura for being compassionate and loving towards my Sophie. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better person to be here with my family and I during our last moments with Sophie. Dr. Maura wasn't a stranger in a home. She teared up and cried with us. I was so blown away by her calming aura and the way she spoke to my baby. Thank you for the bottom of my heart for everything that you do."Azeneth DominguezChicagoMay 17, 2020
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Abra Osorio"Being able to say goodbye to Jake at our home in the sunshine made things so much easier for all of us. We were able to spend the day giving him all of his favorite things and getting in all of our last cuddles. Dr. Abra answered any questions we had and was very respectful of our grief when we said goodbye to Jake. The hardest part for me was putting him in her car and saying that last goodbye, but she made me feel that he would be taken care of."Meredith & Dean Lyons/BeeverNashvilleMay 17, 2020Jake's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Cabell"Throughout my existence, my animals have been an extremely important part of my life. Having lost my immediate family early in my life for the most part, they have fulfilled that important gap. Over the last two weeks I lost two of my beloved pets; Tommy, a 21 year old cat and Freida, a 12 year old German Shepherd. Both of these animals slept on my bed with me during their entire lives. Thankfully, I was able to hold and cuddle them both until their last moments.
We are never prepared for the end of our animal's lives even though we know it may be near, and when it comes it is heart wrenching to say the least. How they transition to the Rainbow Bridge can be devastating - sometimes I think more so for us than them.
Freida, collapsed on a Sunday morning with no ability to get up any longer. I knew it was time but the thought of taking her to a strange place was upsetting Fortunately, Lap of Love, demonstrated that to me, that this transition did not have to be as horrific for my pet or for me. I am so appreciative of the manner in win which Dr. Shannon Cabell responded to our desperate plea for help. Her compassionate manner was evident from the time she walked through the door. She was soft spoken and gentle, and empathic... qualities that all of us admire and hope for in our caretakers. Dr. Cabell made Freida's transition the smoothest transition the I have ever witnessed and for that I am forever grateful and appreciative ."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Megan Wehrwein"Our family cannot say enough about Dr. Megan. Even with all the COVID-19 precautions Dr. Megan was warm and comforting. The hours leading up to “the moment” felt like forever yet we were spoiling and cherishing every last second we had with Teka. Dr. Megan never made us feel rushed and we feel that she really cared when we talked about Teka. We will always have dogs and from here on out we will always use Lap of Love. Dr. Megan made a horrible situation the best it could have been and our family will be forever grateful. Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts."Dawn WilsonLutzMay 16, 2020Teka's Pet Memorial

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Christina Scudder"Anyone who has faced the end of life situations and decisions for a loved one knows that it is not easy, it comes with second guessing, fear, pain, guilt, all the emotions that can leave one lost and confused. Dr Chris was our standing stone through all of it. She gave us a sense of calm assurance, providing a profound level of respect for Shasta, our raw feelings and our uncertainty, Nobody wants to say goodbye to their dog. Nobody. But when the time inevitably came, I could not have asked for anyone better than Dr. Chris. She honored his life throughout and for that I am forever grateful. Shasta was a member of our family for 13 1/2 years. I miss him very much. That pain is somewhat lessoned knowing that his last moments were in a familiar place, surrounded by his family. Dr Chris explained everything, answered our questions, and was a part of our family in that moment. I can't thank her enough for being there for us and for Shasta."Nancy FishWildwoodMay 16, 2020
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Elena Esparza"The staff was amazing from the first phone call to the very end. I was blown away by their compassion and customer care I will be one of their best walking advertisments, bc they went above and beyond to comfort me during this difficult time.
The cost was comparable to what my local vet was charging for me to drive my dog to them. To be able to say goodbye at home and make my dog comfortable meant the world to me. I encourage people to watch the videos regarding "when to know it is the right time"...those were invaluable to me
Thank you for your service!
Kelli"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Cabell"I want to thank you for your kindness and compassionate presence during Freida’s final moments. Fortunately I had time to cuddle with her during the last nights of her life, but having you come to my home made her passing a seamless process. The transition was so smooth for her and frankly, for me as well.
It really takes a special person with certain characteristics and qualities that can make such an experience as comfortable as you did. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Bell"A heartfelt "Thank you!" to Dr. Jennifer Bell and Lap of Love for the kindness, empathy, and compassion they brought to our dog, Jack, and our family in a time of great need and vulnerability. Our home feels empty, and our routines are askew, but we are so grateful that our Jack is no longer suffering. We will always remember how peaceful he looked tucked so lovingly into Dr. Bell's basket as they left our home for his final ride. That was a very comforting moment and a beautiful example of the numerous thoughtful ways that Dr. Bell supported Jack and my family through this heartbreaking time.
I hoped that I did not wait too long to make a compassionate end of life decision for our dear furry Jack and cause undue suffering for him to spare my own breaking heart. That is always the question, I am sure. I am so profoundly grateful that Lap of Love and Dr. Bell were able to immediately help us when the decision became so clear. Their veterinary practice is so special. They have a unique insight into the human-animal bond and they honor the bond at the time when it is most challenging."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Nellie Wilbers"Dr. Nellie was wonderful with our sweet old dog. Dobber lived a long life with us (14 years). His final day was such a blessing. He was spoiled with ice cream at breakfast, and a chocolate cookie as he was administered medications to begin the procedure. Dr. Nellie was informative and willing to work at any pace to make us comfortable. I have no regrets at all and I really appreciate all that Dr. Nellie and Lap of Love did for us and our old pup."Jenny ThimasGrove City, OhioMay 15, 2020
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jordan Taheri"In the middle of the CoVid crisis in South Florida, I knew that my 11 year old boxer Maggie was on her downward slide. After two cancer surgeries, and obvious signs of her cancer growth returning, coupled with her lethargy and outward signs of pain, her time had come. I didn't want to take her in the middle of the night, and sign her into a vet's office for a lonely death. So, I called Lap of Love and Dr, Jordan came to our house and peacefully put her down. My husband and I were with her. She passed on her rug by the front door. It was sad and painful to see her go, but it was the best way for Maggie and her family,
Thank you Lap of Love and Dr. Jordan for your service."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kristine Campanelli"As we all know losing our fur babies is never easy. The decision to help them cross over the rainbow bridge is the most difficult decision we have to make. Another tough decision is who to choose to help you make this decision. Lap of Love was highly recommend from our primary care vet. We reached out to Lap of Love and we were treated with respect and they were so compassionate. I don’t know how they understood some of the conversation through my tears, but they were amazing. They helped us make all the arrangement with compassion and professionalism. Dr. Kristine was absolutely amazing when she came to house. We were thankful she came during the pandemic. Dr. Kristine was extremely comforting to both our fur baby as well as my wife and I. I would highly recommend their services. Dr Kristine took an impression of our girls paw for us. She also gave us some of our babies fur. Absolutely professional. She made an extremely tough time in our life more bearable one. We know Quincy was in good hands. Thank you Dr. Kristine for helping us through this difficult time. We truly appreciate you. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Heather Manfredi"Dr. Heather was an angel brought to us straight from heaven. None of us had ever been through something like that before. Dr. Heather was so patient and kind. She used her expertise to guide us through Chestnut’s passing one step at a time so we knew exactly what was going on. She let us take our time and her gentle way helped to soothe our hearts. It was amazing that she was even willing to come to our home despite the pandemic going on around us. Her sole focus was on our needs and making sure that chestnut was peaceful. We could not have asked for anything better. We will be eternally grateful to Dr. Heather for her love and compassion."Soo BecchinaOceansideMay 15, 2020Chestnut's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"I can’t thank you enough for making the toughest of days ever more bearable. The kindness, grace, compassion that came through (even behind a face mask) was such a gift. The way you tenderly listened, provided assurance and comfort through the entire process was simply amazing. Even in the midst of a pandemic, when you could have been nervous and hurried, you were the calm in the storm. Please know how special and deeply appreciated you are. You spent moments with me at my most anxious and vulnerable and provided nothing but space and understanding for the process. Not just Laps of Love as a Service, but you - your spirit, kind eyes, warmth and understanding are not something that will be forgotten.

Thank you for choosing love.
Thank you for choosing compassion.
Thank you for caring.
And most importantly thank you for being so special.

I’m sure the work you’re doing now isn’t always easy, I’m sure there are hard days and harder days. I hope this note gives you back a little tiny piece of what you were able to share with me.

With the deepest appreciation,"
