Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Elizabeth Hilton, BVM&S"If you are reading this testimonial then you are in the process of making one of the most difficult decisions you may ever have to make. I know because in March of 2019 I was in the exact place.

My family and I knew that our beloved 15 year old Ozzy was suffering from complications from cancer. He fought his diagnosis for one year and the last few months were very difficult for all of us. But as bad as it got I still wasn’t convinced that he was “ready” or that we were “ready.” I know now that I was in denial. I found Lap of Love purely by accident, searching for information on knowing if it was the right time. There I found a plethora of information, exactly I was looking for.

More than just information, I found a caring, and loving organization that provided us with a service that would honor the love and devotion we felt for Ozzy. Experiencing this unbearably heartbreaking situation at home (instead of at the veterinary office) with my family was priceless.

Thank you Dr. Liz and Lap of Love for making such a difficult time easier and so special, I would not have wished for a more beautiful and respectable passing for my baby."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Sarah Clarke, DVM"Dr. Sarah is so awesome!
I have been through this with many pets and this was the best experience. Dr. Sarah took time with us, heard Ginger's story. She took the best care of GP and we are so appreciative of her and this work!
I highly recommend Dr. Sarah and Lap of Love!"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kristen Miller, DVM, CVA"We want to thank Dr. Kristen for the caring and professional service you provided and helping Mom say a peaceful goodbye to her close companion, Sheena. The entire experience was an unexpected blessing. Thank you for taking the time to establish a rapport and create a calm environment so that Sheena was completely at ease. The compassion shown was beyond admirable and for that, we all thank you. Using this service was definitely the right decision for us. Thanks for doing what you do so well."Wantagh, NYApril 30, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Elyse Persico, DVM"Dr. Elyse was so loving and kind. Max instantly took to her and kissed her all over the face. She made a very difficult process so much more comforting for us. Dr. Elyse made it a very beautiful, peaceful experience for our entire family."Stacy FroyenYorktown, VirginiaApril 30, 2019Max's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Sally Lynch, DVM"Dr. Sally Lynch was wonderful. She was a calming and comforting presence the moment she walked in the door. I didn’t want to put my precious baby (or myself) through the trauma of the trip to the vet. I had two other cats that were euthanized at the vet’s office, and I probably waited longer than I should have, making it more of an emergency situation. I decided I didn’t want to go through that again or put my precious baby through that either, so I decided on home Euthanasia. My precious kitty was 19 years old and failing. It was time. Dr. Sally was very kind and loving, and treated my baby like she was her own. My precious girl crossed rainbow bridge peacefully in my arms at home. I have her paw print and a lock of her fur as a keepsake as well as her ashes.
I highly recommend using Lap of Love home euthanasia. It was more than worth every penny. Thank you so much Dr. Sally for your care and compassion in helping me get through this difficult time."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Roger Chase, DVM"We knew it was time for our 17 year old cat to pass, but it was so traumatic for her and us to get her to the vets she was so sick.
Dr. Roger Chase came to our house and assisted Pixie with a quick and peaceful passing. We can't thank him enough! I wish I would have know about their services for our previous pets.
Thank you Dr. Chase and Lap of Love!

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kim Slade, DVM"I always knew that it would be incredibly hard to lose my beloved Coconut. I couldn’t imagine bringing her into the vets office for her final moments. My regular vet recommended Lap of Love and when the time came we were incredibly lucky to have Dr. Kim come to our house. Dr. Kim was incredibly caring, gentle and compassionate. She created a stress free and comfortable environment for Coconut and helped us understand the process. She helped to calm and reassure me and my family. I am so thankful that Coconuts final moments were in my arms at home and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I can’t say enough about Dr. Kim, she truly is an angel on earth. You have to be a very special person to be able to care and comfort not only our pets but the people who love them. Thank you so much Dr. Kim, Ellen Wisolmerski"Ellen WisolmerskiFlorham Park, New JerseyApril 30, 2019

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashley Payne, DVM"Dr. Ashley gave the gift of compassion, kindness, and love while administering mercy to beloved pets. Saying goodbye to our precious Scout, our hound mix rescue of 15.5 yrs was one of the hardest things we've had to do. How lucky we were to have her as our vet during this incredibly difficult time. Dr. Ashley utilizes her expertise to ensure that you understand the procedure, while comforting and understanding your grieving process. I will recommend her to any and all requiring her service. We cannot thank her enough. There is NOTHING like the unconditional love of a beautiful dog."Marcia ProvostDecatur, GeorgiaApril 29, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Lori Braun, DVM"I have grown up with cats, and have loved them all immensely. I was lucky enough to have one though, that I loved intensely, like a child---Vladimir. He was a pampered darling indoor cat, whose sun rose and set around me. For 20 years he was my shadow, following my more like a dog, trotting to me when called, and his favorite time was "movie time", just laying on my chest and staring at me with love.

Unfortunately, 20 years was past what his little body could handle, and his body was falling apart. I have never had to euthanize a pet, but I was in a hard decision of what was kindest for my best friend...letting him go naturally, or watching his pain get worse and worse.

I started reviewing in-home euthanasia, and some sites were a little cold, focusing more on the business sides "must pre-pay, cancellation fees, how they can't control how a pet reacts, etc." Then I found Lap of Love. Something about the site just struck me as "I think these are fellow pet lovers who will be gentle and kind." So I called.

I can hands-down say these are some of the kindest, most generous people I have met in my life, and I am so, so grateful I found them. If your pet is hurting, you could absolutely not be in better hands. I was on the fence on euthanasia, knowing it was the right choice, but feeling like I might be betraying my little guy for doing it. Then I would see the pain in his eyes, and think "well, am I betraying him for NOT doing it?" would I be letting him live in pain just so that it was easier on me?

I called, and Lisa spent an HOUR on the phone with me. An HOUR, as I was a bit of an emotional wreck. She didn't pressure me either way, and she gave real life experiences of her losses of beloved friends, walking me through pros and cons of both options. (One being that, if an indoor pet is rapidly declining, they are also more prone to painful strokes and seizures.)

I decided to schedule the in-home euthanasia. I wanted to pre-pay and asked about cancellation window. She said no on the cancellation, if something changes, just please let them know as soon as possible so that they can give the time to someone else.

Vladie ended up passing naturally, in my arms, the day before the appointment. Due to this, I cancelled the appointment, but I cannot thank Lap of Love enough for their help, guidance, kindness and generosity. No one wants to make this sort of decision, but if you have to, you want to make sure you are working with people who genuinely love pets, and are kind, good people---and this is 100% Lap of Love. (And they also offer hospice and other in-home services, that are so much less traumatic on your pet my being in your home!)

If your beloved friend is at a point of no return, and their pain is getting worse and worse, sometimes this is the gentlest and kindest option, and no one will give you more kindness, generosity and wonderful, unbiased guidance than LapOfLove.

Thank you Lisa, and thank you Lap of Love. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and support. You are good, good people, and I cannot thank you enough!

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashley Payne, DVM"Dr. Ashley was my dogs guardian Angel. I cannot stop singing her praises to everyone I tell the story to. Deciding to lay our beloved pet to rest is by far the hardest thing I have ever ever done, but from the moment Dr. Ashley walked into the house, I had this overwhelming sense of comfort that I am truly so grateful for. Albie had curled up on the couch to sleep before Dr. Ashley arrived, and it was perfect that she was able to leave us without ever knowing anything different other than it was nap time. I'm at peace with that. It doesn't help the heartache, but does add peace.
I will sing her praises to anyone and everyone that has to come to making that painful decision. It shouldn't be done any other way.
Thank you Dr. Ashley for being who you are."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashley Payne, DVM"Dr. Ashley was beyond amazing when she helped me with the most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make. She was so kind and supportive and immediately made my beloved Gracie at ease when she arrived and interacted with her. Dr. Ashley was very patient and allowed us all the time we needed to say goodbye to our beautiful Weimaraner who was just 3mo shy of her 15yr old birthday. Dr. Ashley brought so much comfort to me during this heartbreak she is nothing short of a blessing from God. I can’t say enough about Dr. Ashley & the peace she brought us. I would highly recommend her and Lap of Love."Beth WhitesidesAlpharetta, GeorgiaApril 29, 2019

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Sandra Simko, DVM"Dr. Sandra was very compassionate with Knuckles and took as much time as we needed to say our final goodbyes at home. She was very gentle with Knuckles and seemed to genuinely care about her and us throughout the process. She told us she gave Knuckles angel wings, and we took much comfort from that gift. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Lori Braun, DVM"Nothing I could write would really be able to capture what Dr. Lori did for us. Yes, of course she provided the service we paid for but that is not what makes her special, any vet can euthanize. She shared with us a part of her soul and in turn we shared a part of ours with her. For you cannot be a present when a soul leaves a body without be a participant either positive or negative. To say her participation was positive doesn't even begin to describe it. But I guess you had to be there. Thank you Dr. Lori for being there . She provided a wonderful starting point for our healing. Winnie will always remain in our hearts and so will Dr. Lori."Stephanie AKINSPORTLAND, OregonApril 28, 2019

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jessica Spitzer, DVM"Last May we lost our 6 year old dog from eating a poisonous mushroom. And then when our oldest dog (17) began to show signs of "fading" I couldn't bear the thought of losing another dog. I wanted to make sure he was safe and comfortable...and although he couldn't really see or hear or walk too well anymore, he was still eating well and drinking his water. I kept thinking, I hoped he would maybe just go in his sleep? Hoping that I didn't have to make that final decision that I have had to do with other pets... But it started becoming clearer, that I might have to do just that. I spoke to Dr. Jessica on the phone first. She asked me some very meaningful questions. But the one that "spoke" to me the most was "does he show any joy in anything that used to make him happy?" I realized that for almost a year, he hadn't engaged with the other dogs. He was leaping about like a baby goat, of trying to hump the other male dog!
When Dr. Jessica came two days later and met the other three crazy dogs first, she took one look at Jake and didn't even hesitate to tell us, she "knew" it was his time...
She was loving and gentle and created an environment that felt safe...
I loved Dr. Jessica's complete Aura. I would highly recommend Lap of Love for all types of hospice care for our beloved fur babies."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jordy Merrifield, DVM"We knew for a few days that Scratcher was ready. I found Lap of Love online and called Easter Sunday. The gentleman on the phone showed such great compassion, taking time to get my pet’s name and the family that would be with us. He let me know Dr. Merrifield would be by in two hours. She called shortly after my initial call and when speaking to her I knew Scratcher and our family would be in good hands. When she arrived she was so amazing to us and Scratcher’s four legged siblings. She spent an hour with us, explaining the process, confirming what we knew: our boy was old and tired and yes we could hospitalize him, possibly still stress him out, but his life would not be of quality or extended. She joined us in petting him, making him as comfortable as possible. And allowing us to grieve freely. She made the entire process so much easier. Truly, Dr. Merrifield has a gift and we consider her an angel."Corinne BostickGlendale, ArizonaApril 27, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Loren Gassler, DVM"We could not have made it through the next few hours if not for the compassion and love that radiated from Dr. Loren's face and hands and words. We felt so lost but from the first, when I called and spoke to Chelsea, I knew all would be all right. I do not remember the name of the young woman who "shadowed" Dr. Loren, but I appreciate her help and presence also. We could not have had a better transition for our beloved dog Max than what he received. Thank you..."Clarissa SIMMENSNew Port Richey, FloridaApril 27, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Rachel Klickman, DVM, CVA"Dr. Rachel made a very sad time in our lives more bearable. She was kind and supportive. She called us throughout the process and after to check on us, what a compassionate human being. I am grateful we were able to have our Mindy pass at home and and had time to prepare and spend her last days by her side. She was not anxious as she would have been at the vet office and again we were blessed it wasn't an emergent situation. Lap of Love and Dr. Rachel are wonderful!"leah haasbel air, MarylandApril 27, 2019Mindy's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Amanda Inman, DVM"Dr. Amanda is not a human being, she is a straight up angel from heaven. She has a purpose and is so good at what she does. I have no words but thank you. From the initial phone call to the final hug after loading her up all wrapped up, Lap of Love is truly a loving and caring organization worthy of your trust and money and energy. They will be who sends all of my babies back through the veil of life. Seriously, thank you Dr. Amanda. You made an impossible call feel like the best thing for our baby.
