Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Cathy Berquist, DVM"We have known about Lap of Love for years but had always hoped we would never have to call. Unfortunately, we did, but we are so grateful that Lap of Love exists. Bethany, who answered our call and scheduled our appointment could not have been more compassionate and caring throughout our conversation. She was professional, patient and so, so kind. The veterinarian who came to the house, Dr. Cathy Berquist, was equally as compassionate and thoroughly walked us through the process. She was so loving and so patient with us – we never felt rushed or pressured – permitting us to say goodbye in our own time. This is how it should be, always.

Thank you for the wonderful work you do and for your commitment to compassionate care of animals and their humans. I can’t tell you how much my husband, son and I appreciated being able to say goodbye to our girl in our own home!"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Heather Manfredi, DVM"Words can't express our gratitude to Dr. Heather for taking care of our girl and all of us at such a dramatic time in our lives.

Our little Molly--a six pound Chi-Poo--had gotten suddenly ill at 15 having violent seizures. Our amazing Vet told us that there was nothing that could be done for our poor girl and that it was time. Not words you ever want to hear no matter how many years you have with your furbaby.

I called Lap Of Love on my way home from the Vet's office and explained our dire situation. They gave me appointment times that worked for our family and friends allowing for everyone to come see Molly and say their good-bye's.

Dr. Heather arrived and unfortunately, Molly started to seize while she was at our home. Quickly, professionally and respectfully, Dr. Heather eased Molly through her seizure into peace. She allowed us all--even Molly's furbrother, Ben--time to say what we needed to Molly and to say our good bye's.

This incredible service is one you never want to need and yet when you do, is invaluable. I can't tell you the comfort and peace we had being able to be in Molly's favorite spot in our own home, surrounded by family and friends in her last moments.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Dr. Heather and the entire Lap of Love family. You make an incredibly difficult time as comfortable as one could hope."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Sarah Tangeman, DVM"Dr. Sarah was amazingly compassionate and kind. She came in and acted like a friend or family member. She was so patient and thoughtful and explained everything to us and allowed us to share memories about Scarlett. She was very respectful and let us take our time saying goodbye. The best decision I made through this difficult process was allowing Lap of Love to be with us in Scarlett's final moments. Thank you Dr. Sarah!!"Mindy HollanFort Worth, TexasJanuary 14, 2019Scarlett's Pet Memorial

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Roger Chase, DVM"Thank you for everything Dr. Roger! We so appreciate your warm and tender demeanor as we helped our Kitty boy pass the rainbow bridge. The strangest things have been making us sad... not able to put away his litter box and last few kibbles just yet. We miss him terribly, but are so glad he isn't in any pain anymore. Thank you again for everything."Salt Lake City, UtahJanuary 14, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Anne Mitchell, VMD"This is the only way to go! Your pet is in the comfort of their own home, unafraid and around all their loved ones when the time comes. there is nothing more beautiful then seeing your pet at piece after struggling to survive Imagine having to take your loved one to the vet, wait your turn while they are afraid and in pain, rather then being in their known surroundings, passing peacefully while her family (dogs, cat's owners) surround them. A caring Vet with only them to care for."MAURICE TANNENBAUMGladwyne, PennsylvaniaJanuary 14, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Heather Manfredi, DVM"I can't stress enough how kind and caring Dr. Manfredi was. She made my Rico's journey to his angel wings the best possible experience one could have with their beloved pet. He finished his life with love and caring all around him. I could not bear the thought of him going to an office which he hated. Thank you so much to Dr. Heather!!"Katherine TurnerLake grove, NYJanuary 14, 2019

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Sandra Simko, DVM"There are very few duties in this world as sacred as relieving the suffering of another being. Lap of Love and Dr. Simko provided this beautiful gift to our beloved Buster and we feel infinite gratitude. The process was so dignified, peaceful, loving, and honored sweet Buster and his beautiful life. I truly would never consider any alternative but the at-home care of Lap of Love. Before we contacted Lap of Love I called many other places, none of which were remotely as pleasant to work with. Thank you again, Dr. Simko."Molly MurrayDenville, New JerseyJanuary 14, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Heather Manfredi, DVM"This past week we made the difficult decision to end our pets suffering. Even with all the ‘evidence’ of his suffering, we struggled to take this decision into our own hands. I realized that I could not do it alone. I contacted Lap of Love and immediately received the compassion and support that I needed. I am so grateful for the gentle kind support of everyone that we worked with. Dr. Heather came to our house and helped my family cope with a tremendous loss. If you find yourself in need of end of life care and support for your pet and your family, please call Lap of Love, it’s such a hard decision but you don’t have to do it alone. You also don’t have to put yourself, your family and your pet through the trauma of being in a cold, sterile vets office. I feel at peace and I owe that to Dr. Heather and Lap of Love. Thank you."East Patchogue, NYJanuary 14, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Rachel Klickman, DVM, CVA"It broke our hearts when Frank was diagnosed with cancer. At 15 years, major surgery just was not a viable option for him. Always the trooper, he managed to hang on for several months; but he let us know when he was tired of fighting.
As tired as he was though, he seemed to light up when Dr. Rachel walked in, and immediately went to greet her. He purred as she sat down on the floor and petted him.
Dr. Rachel was so calm and gentle. She took her time and explained everything thoroughly. The whole experience, while sad for us, was completely calm, and gentle. It was the best exit that Frank could have had and the one that he deserved, which made his passing much easier for us to bear. We are eternally grateful."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Sue Mowatt, DVM"I have to thank from the bottom of my heart both Bethany Kuechler, BSW, my first phone contact with Lap of Love, and Dr. Sue Mowatt, DVM. Both of these amazing women have beautiful hearts. They listened to my grief-stricken rambling, assured me this was the right time to do the right thing. I never felt rushed, not once. Dr. Sue even examined Lazare and explained from her experience why Lazare's life was fading. Giving my baby the gift of a fear-free, loving, gentle moment of passing in our own home was the right decision. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart."Meircee BoulahroudSacramento, CaliforniaJanuary 13, 2019Lazare's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Nancy Rodriguez, DVM"Our day began with me finding Echo outside unable to stand up, or have the strength to climb the steps to the doggie door. After a visit to our vet, we found Echo's beautiful heart was giving out. We wanted her euthanized at home, in a place she loved, so vet gave me Lap of Love card..They were wonderful! Understanding my grief, and desire to ease Echo's suffering, they juggled their appointments to get here later that day. Once here, Dr. Nancy explained the procedure to us, made friends with Echo, and examined her. We all sat on the floor around Echo's bed, while she helped us along in our goodbyes. She was gentle and kind, and made Echo's last moments on earth as peaceful as we desired."Bill and Marie JonesAiken, S. CarolinaJanuary 13, 2019Echo's Pet Memorial

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Rachel Klickman, DVM, CVA"Dr. Rachel came out on a snowy day to help us put to rest our beloved dog, Leon. Soft-voiced and kind, she gave us as much time as we needed to understand what was going to happen and how it would affect Leon because of his particular condition. After meeting him and seeing his condition, she also reassured us that our decision was kind for Leon, even as difficult as it was for us. Having her come here, so Leon could be in his favorite chair with all of us around him was so much nicer than a steel table in an office. Not having to drive home was also a blessing. Dr Rachel made our last experience with Leon as positive as it could possibly be."Julia Pitkin-ShantzRockville, MarylandJanuary 13, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Heather Manfredi, DVM"Last weekend was one of the hardest of our lives. We had to say goodbye to our dog Charlotte. We rescued Charlotte from an animal shelter. From the moment we saw her it was evident Charlotte was abused and fearful of people. After a few weeks Charlotte became comfortable with us and adored other dogs. Charlotte lovingly welcomed our three daughters over the course of the nine years we shared. She loved our family but was never quite comfortable with anyone outside our relatives. Charlotte was a great dog who loved long walks with us in a nearby preserve. Unfortunately, Charlotte became ill in early 2018. She was back and forth to the vet hospitals but her illnesses were becoming too great. Last month, it was clear that she could barely keep anything down and had lost too much weight. She was uncomfortable and not herself. It was time to let her find her peace. When my husband contacted lap of love he was very comforted and informed. Although we didn’t want to make the decision, everyone he spoke to eased his concern and acknowledged his feelings. Dr. Heather Manfredi arrived at our home that cold and rainy Saturday morning with such warmth and comfort. Charlotte was never comfortable with strangers visiting, but Dr. Heather put her at ease. She got to know Charlotte and created a bond with her. Dr. Heather was very considerate of our feelings and took her time to respect our wishes. She helped ease our uneasiness and made our last moments together very peaceful. She knew we had children and even gave us advice in how to help them grieve. She was an angel who truly helped us face a day we dreaded. We are grateful for her words and comfort!"Massapequa Park, NYJanuary 13, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Aspen Perretta, DVM"Dr. Aspen was very gentle and caring and just the person we needed to guide us through this experience. Gretchen's passing was very peaceful and loving. She was in our own home, laying next to me, and being loved. Even though this was the first time we met Dr. Aspen, it felt as if we had known her because of her great compassion."Raissa FederlineMurrysville, PennsylvaniaJanuary 12, 2019Princess Gretchen's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Aspen Perretta, DVM"Dr. Aspen was absolutely wonderful providing loving care. Her assistance allowed our beloved Great Dane to pass with dignity. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Steven Schultz, DVM"The agonizing pain that accompanied the decision to euthanize my beloved black lab, Freddie, was compassionately eased by Dr. Steven Schultz.
He gently guided him to a place where people food is on the menu, all the cars are convertibles, and everyone is allowed on the furniture.
Thank you, Dr. Schultz. Your calm and patient presence gave me the confidence to put Fred's comfort before my own.
RIP Freddie 11/19/2004 - 1/7/2019"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Amanda Page, DVM"When it came to say good bye to my almost 20 year old cat Chip I called Lap of Love and Dr. Amanda came to the house. From the moment I met her until when we carried Chip to the car Dr. Amanda was so empathetic and kind in her words and explanation of what will transpire. She has a very special energy about her that helps you through this sad and painful process. Saying good bye is never easy but I know Chip had a beautiful send off and was taken care of in the most loving way by Dr. Amanda. I wanted my other pets to be there and Dr. Amanda was very patient with my inquisitive dog who actually cried when the process started. Dr. Amanda let Redford say good bye to Chip in his own way. She even used lavender oil as a calming tool when she started the process which I found calming for me too! I feel very happy knowing that Chip left the house he knew for all these years and was surrounded by his family thanks to Dr. Amanda and Lap of Love."Susan RAliso Viejo, CaliforniaJanuary 12, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Anna Champagne, DVM"We have used Lap of Love three times now. Every vet has been wonderful. With Aurora's passing, we didn't know it was coming so quickly. She was in medical distress, so there was urgency in getting her home from the ER and getting the LOV vet to our house. They were wonderful as always. Dr. Anna was especially kind, given the circumstances. She kept commenting on how beautiful Aurora was and how unlike torties her current state was. We knew it was the right decision to forego hospitalization to "see what could be done" and choose a peaceful end for her, but having that reassurance really helped. Dr. Anna was so calm and peaceful. She gave us time to say goodbye in the way we wanted. Thank you so much for everything."Deletha HardinValrido, FloridaJanuary 12, 2019Aurora's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Aspen Perretta, DVM"Lap of Love/Dr. Aspen was amazing. Being able to put Fred to sleep in his own home somehow made the entire process a little less painful. He was calm and familiar with his surrounding vs. being scared and in a carrier being taken to the vet. I was able to hold him and talk to him as he was put to sleep. Dr. Aspen was warm and caring. She made a paw print impression for me, which I turned into an ornament for our Christmas tree. I will never take a cat to the vet again to be put down. Lap of Love is a warm, wonderful, caring service. Highly recommend them!"Pittsburgh, PennsylvaniaJanuary 12, 2019Fredo's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Anne Mitchell, VMD"Dr. Anne made a very difficult day more bearable and I appreciated her innate sense of timing and tact in how she dealt with both me and Blue. She confirmed what I already knew in my heart, and set about making both of us as comfortable as possible. Alex, the operator that I spoke to in the morning was incredibly kind too. There's no way to describe how difficult it is to put your trusted companion of 15 years down, so the ease with which all Lap of Love staff handle the stress and grief in this circumstance is commendable.

I'm deeply grateful to Dr. Anne, Alex, and Lap of Love for allowing our last moments together to be as peaceful as possible. Thank you, and please continue your courageous work!"
