Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Elizabeth Gill, DVM"Forced with the decision of when to help Bentley move on from this world, we knew we didn't want it to happen outside of our home. This is where he was loved and most comfortable. We were referred to Lap of Love by our Vet as an alternative to a vet visit and we are very happy they sent us to Dr. Elizabeth.
Making the decision to euthanize is never easy, but Dr. Elizabeth helped ease our worries. She came into our home and allowed everything to move at our pace. She asked a lot of questions and gathered a lot of info about Bentley and his health. She has a very caring and kind demeanor towards animals, this was obvious immediately. She was very open and informative about the process and what could be expected.
Bentley really despised going to the vet's office. He would become extremely stressed while there, having the option to have a professional, caring vet like Dr. Elizabeth come to our home was fantastic. It made the process a much more humane and respectful process, and this allowed us the opportunity to celebrate Bentley's life much more.

A huge thank you to Dr. Elizabeth!

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Leann Sargeant, DVM"Dr Leann was so sweet. She came in and loved our dog. She explained everything and made us feel so comforted. I couldn't imagine doing this any other way than in our home where Token was loved. She gave us a paw print and we got to say our goodbyes. Following the next few days we got a hand written card in the mail. So sweet and personal! Just what I needed. Thank you Dr Leann. Thank you for making this process a little easier with out fur baby ."Shea BrandtSantee, CaliforniaJuly 16, 2017Token Bear Brandt's Pet Memorial

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Alexandra Saura, DVM"On July 11, 2017, we had to make one of the most difficult decisions about our wonderful Great Dane Lucas. He was a gentle giant, affectionate, loyal, protective and our best friend. We contacted Lap of Love and Dr. Alexandra came to our home and helped talk us through our last moments with our beloved pet. Lucas was very calm and comfortable and Dr. Alexandra was so compassionate and caring toward us and Lucas. He went to sleep peacefully and as much as we didn't want to let him go , we all agreed it was his time. Although we are deeply heartbroken by our loss, this experience made it more bearable. Rest in peace, Lukey Frog. You were our special boy and will be missed forever. Lap of Love and Dr. Alexandra are amazing. We are truly grateful to them for all they have done during our time of need.
Thank You,"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Erica Unz, DVM"Saying goodbye is always difficult but Dr. Erica and Lap of Love made the process comforting and healing. Josh was a sweet boy with many health conditions and we just couldn't stomach the thought of taking him to the Vet one last time. Thanks to Lap of Love, who was incredibly responsive from the first (and only call) to Dr. Erica's care and professionalism, Josh got to fall asleep in his own bed. Thanks to Lap of Love and especially Dr. Erica; we will always miss Josh but never feel horrible about the ending because of your care."Christy PonticelliLutz, FloridaJuly 15, 2017

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Katie Stender, DVM"First, I'd like to say that the phone conversations prior to the event were amazing, informative and everyone I spoke to had such compassion and a true calling to this profession. Dr. Katie came to our home and it was like we were old friends. She was kind and gentle and her spirit was immediately calming to my husband and I. Cash, our poodle mix, was around 16 years old and developed seizures a few months ago as well as heart failure and he was struggling. She explained everything and within minutes he was at peace. I would recommend this service to anyone who is considering end of life care for their pet - these doctors are superb and I could not have asked for a better experience at such a difficult time. Thank you!"Gemi JannottaJacksonville, FloridaJuly 15, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Katie Stender, DVM"This was the hardest decision to make. Hurricane was given to my husband in college and was his first pet. A truly a college man's dog. He loved beer! He then became my running partner and best friend. He was not happy when we brought home our first human baby but he grew to love her and then his best buddy, our son came. Hurricane brought us so much joy and love for 15 1/2 years. Eventually he was just existing for us and not living. I had emailed lap of love the year before, but we couldn't do it mentally. So this time I called and they were so sweet. When the doctor came, we let our kids decide if they wanted to stay or go next door. They went next door. Even though our eyes were never dry and Dr. Katie cried with us, it was the kindest thing to do for him. Dr. Katie is amazing, compassionate and so caring. She felt our pain along with us and talked us through it. She made the decision easier when she talked about his dementia and pain. Dr. Katie is the sweetest lady and I don't know how she does her job, but if we could of picked anyone we would have chosen her. My children handled it so well and I truly believe it was from the article Lap of Love emailed me. It helped me explain to them what was happening and let us cry and show our tears."Hurricane Facemyersaint Johns, FloridaJuly 15, 2017

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Annie Dion-Byrd, DVM"In 2014, my beloved Cheetarah was diagnosed with cancer. At 11 years old, she was not a candidate for chemo and her quality of life had already been suffering for nearly a year. We had to make the sudden and difficult choice to end her suffering. I was given a brochure about Lap of Love at AVS when I took Cheetarah to get a sonogram. After they found her tumor, about 3 days later she had a turn for the worse. I had never had to put down a pet before but I reluctantly called Lap of Love and they came the next day.

Dr. Annie came to my home and she was so comforting, soothing, understanding, and gentle. I think I needed her more than Cheetarah did. She was very patient with us and let us spend as much time with Cheetarah as we wanted. She thoroughly explained everything and answered all questions. Her visit lasted a few hours and Dr. Annie did not mind it at all.
She did everything in stages and made sure Cheetarah was comfortable and that we were ready for the next step. She was in my lap, on her favorite blanket, peacefully sleeping. My then-fiance had one of her paws in his hand and I had her other.

Afterwards, she let us bring Cheetarah down and into her car and reassured us that she would be brought to her home, not some cold stale warehouse. The entire process as sad as it was, was very bearable due to Dr. Annie and her loving nature. I would recommend Dr. Annie to anyone who is going thru a similar situation with their loved one."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"I recently had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to my best friend of almost 10 years. Her name was Lady and was the life of our home and family. I spoke with a few places that offered in home euthanasia. Lady hated going to the vet and I wanted her last moments to be in the comfort of our home where she has spent so many great years and made so many memories. After speaking with the awesome staff at Lap of Love I made other phone calls comparing services and pricing. After speaking with a few other places it wasn't hard at all to make a decision to go with Dr. Brad @ Lap of Love. From the moment someone answered my phone call all I felt was compassion. The woman I spoke with was beyond kind and patient as I cried to her and asked numerous questions. Before scheduling an appointment Dr. Brad called me to discuss things further. (Called me in a very short period of time) He was patient and kind as well and described the process and answered all of my questions. He gave me his cell phone number and told me not only to text or call with any questions but that if I did want to schedule the appointment to call him first so he could hold the appointment time that I wanted. So like I said earlier after I spoke with them I made a few other calls. The other places made me feel like I was calling about scheduling a dentist appointment and were very "matter of fact". Right away I knew that Lap of Love was the right choice. Throughout the process of scheduling the appointment the staff was available for all of my questions and concerns. My dog was not good at all with strangers and Dr. Brad went above and beyond to make her last moments beyond peaceful. My Lady literally never knew he was there. I was able to give her oral sedatives myself and when she was ready he came in and sent her peacefully over that rainbow bridge everyone talks about. Although it was literally the hardest moment of my life (not to mention I'm 6 months pregnant) he made it as peaceful as it possibly could have been. If anyone has to go through this extremely emotional experience Lap of Love is definitely the right choice. I am so grateful that I was able to send my best friend off peacefully in the comfort of our (her) home surrounded by all the people who she loved and who loved her. There is a hole that will never be filled from our loss but Lap of Love made the process as pleasant as it possibly could be. Thank you for your compassion, our family will never forget how helpful you truly were."Jenna ColburnErial, New JerseyJuly 14, 2017

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Betsy King, DVM"Dr. Betsy King was so very kind, caring and compassionate to Boomer and us.
It meant so much to us to be able to say good-bye to him in our house and in his favorite spot, looking out the front door, overlooking his front yard. She gave us all the time we needed to be with him & allowed us to give him a white rose from our garden before leaving. Saying good bye was very difficult and we are grateful to have had Dr. King by our side."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Annie Dion-Byrd, DVM"The most heartbreaking of circumstances handled in the most loving, compassionate and deeply personalized possible. All of those last minute doubts of "Is this the right time?" were quickly relieved. Dr Annie offered such a nice balance of clinical expertise and genuine empathy as a pet-loving human. Our precious 15 1/2 year old golden retriever left us in her backyard, surrounded by her loving parents and faithful cat-buddy. Her body was gently removed and transported in a dignified manner.

I can only hope that my time to die will be handled as compassionately."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jessica Webster-Boden DVM"Our 15 tear old Border Collie mix was unable to stand up -( his hips would not function) and he was in a good bit of pain. We contacted Lap of Love and Dr. Jessica came to the house and put Bailey down very gently. She explained the procedure and was wonderful and caring the entire time. We were extremely satisfied with the entire process. I would give Lap of Love and Dr. Jessica the highest rating."Bill HildebrandCarrollton, TexasJuly 13, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Rachel Klickman, DVM, CVA"On July 7,2017, I googled how do you know and found a very helpful video to share with our 23 & 26-year-old daughters because I knew that the time was quickly approaching. The was sooner than we knew, the next day our 13 ½ year old yellow lab Diesel took a fall that he would not recover from. So, July 9th Dr. Rachel Klickman of Lap of Love Hospice came to do the procedure. My husband made an appointment through a company that was referred by our vet and later I realized it was Lap of Love. Diesel was our first family pet and we knew it was going to be hard but didn’t know what to expect. Dr. Rachel explained the process and was so patent with us. I can’t say enough about how compassion she was and how such she put our minds rest.
Thank you, Dr. Rachel Glickman,"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jo Parr, VMD"June 30, 2017 was one of the most difficult days of my life. How do you say goodbye to your best friend of 15 years? Piper was one of a kind! She was a beautiful, strong, independent, loyal, devoted, true companion. Wherever I went… Piper was right there by my side. We enjoyed countless walks around our neighborhood, traveled thousands of miles in the car and experienced many unforgettable adventures together. In her last few months on earth, Piper became anxious when riding in the car so we stayed close to home to help her remain calm and comfortable. Recognizing that Piper was slowing down I wanted to provide her with a stress free experience in her last moments on earth. The Lap of Love organization and Dr. Jo Parr were an answer to my prayers. The kindness and compassion of Lap of Love was amazing! Dr. Jo was extraordinary!! Dr. Jo provided Piper with the most gracious and loving entry to peace that I could have ever imagined. My heart was broken and overflowing with joy at the same time. Thank you Dr. Jo! I am forever grateful for your care and support during this difficult time. You are a very special person and will never be forgotten."Maryanne WeeksLeola, PennsylvaniaJuly 11, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Annie Dion-Byrd, DVM"Dear Dr. Annie,
You were our angel on 7/9/17! We were in a desperate situation and our Sammie was failing fast. Luckily we were able to get your last appt because I just knew our Sammie wouldn't have made it another day. You were so compassionate, caring, and kind. We can't thank you enough for taking the time to explain everything to our kids. We really wanted to let them experience our unconditional love for Sammie because for the past 12 yrs that is what she gave us. I never realized how much of a difference it makes to do in-home euthanasia until I experienced it with our Sammie. With our last two pets were did the traditional office euthanasia, and now I'm a firm believer that we owe it to our fur babies to let them pass in their own home with their devoted family right next to them. Our home is lonely now, but we know our Sammie is in a better place. We will forever be grateful for the wonderful service you provided. You are truly an AMAZING and CARING person. ~ Marybeth"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Annie Dion-Byrd, DVM"Dr. Annie was AMAZING! This was our first time with an
in-home euthanasia and we would not have it any other way.
Even though the time was very sad for us, Dr. Annie made the
whole experience beautiful! She explained the whole process
to our kids, and that was a tremendous help. I only wish I
would have thought of this with our last two pets. We owe
it to our fur babies to let them pass in their own home with
us by their side. Dr. Annie made us feel like we were
doing the right thing, and she was so compassionate and
caring. She is an amazing person, and we are very grateful
she was able to assist us with our baby."
