Meet the veterinarians
About Dr. Erin Clark
I was born in Worthington, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, and have been drawn to animals since childhood. In fact, my very first word was not “Mama” or “Dada,” but “dog.”
Fueled by my passion for animals, I decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine and headed off to Ohio State University—Go Bucks!—where many of my family members had also attended. I completed my undergraduate studies and veterinary school at OSU, and I am very proud to be a Buckeye.
After graduating, I worked in general practice and emergency medicine, caring for animals and supporting families during some of the hardest moments of their lives. Through my work, I’ve come to value the beauty of the human and animal bond and the importance of providing quality end-of-life care. We all deserve dignity, respect, and comfort during our lives—and when we pass. If we could choose, most of us would prefer to spend our final moments in the comfort of our home, surrounded by our family, and I believe our pets would choose that, too.
My role at Lap of Love gives me the opportunity to provide pets with a peaceful and dignified passing in a familiar environment with the people they love while supporting families as they grieve the loss of a family member.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my own animals, including my two cats, two rabbits, and three dogs.
About Dr. April Perez
I am a native of North County San Diego. Drawn to animals from a young age, I frequented hiking trails to spend time in nature and often visited the Safari park with my dad. I loved being around all types of animals, so it was natural for me to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
I completed my undergraduate degree at San Diego State University, veterinary school at St. George’s University in the Caribbean, and my clinical year in Edinburgh, Scotland. I have worked in urgent care and general practice, and developed interests in senior care and acupuncture.
My passion for helping older pets began with volunteer work for Frosted Faces Senior Pet Rescue. I adopted a senior dog through the rescue after seeing how important it was to other adopters to care for an older pet, and the experience shaped my philosophy toward senior pet care. I love seeing my patients, maintaining their quality of life, and helping families get more time with their beloved pets.
When my heart dog passed away, it taught me an important lesson. As much as we want our pets to stay, letting them pass with grace is the kindest thing we can do. I understand the intensity of the human-animal bond, and I feel honored to provide end-of-life services through Lap of Love so that pets and their owners can say goodbye in the comfort of their homes.
Outside of work, I have the privilege of sharing my home with two dogs and three cats who run the show. I also enjoy participating in Hawaiian dancing, hiking, and spending time at home with my husband and our four-legged family.
