About Dr. Carolina Herrera

I grew up in a home where everyone was welcome—dogs, cats, birds, horses, you name it. Animals were always part of my family, and they taught me compassion from an early age. When the time came to choose a career, I didn’t have a clear plan. What I did have was a constant stream of animals who needed help, and eventually the choice became obvious.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of practicing veterinary medicine in Mexico and several parts of the United States, with a primary focus on equine medicine and small animal care. Along the way, I’ve also experienced the heartbreaking loss of three dogs who meant the world to me: Tovarich, Hashi, and Lucky. Their passing was unexpected and deeply traumatic, and with one of them, I didn’t have the opportunity to say goodbye. Their memory is what inspires me every time I help a family and their beloved pet through life’s final chapter. I strive to provide the comfort, dignity, and kindness that I wish we had experienced together. It is truly an honor and a privilege to walk alongside families during this difficult time, providing support for them and compassionate care for their beloved companions.

Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending time with horses, reading, and home decorating. I’m also a proud pet parent to my Husky, Lila, my orange tabby girl, Chiqui, and my beautiful gray tabby, Sofia.
