Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Walters"We were referred to Lap of Love by a personal friend who is a veterinarian, after we came to the heart-wrenching decision to put our dog down. Our beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Ziggy was suffering from complications associated with Mitral Valve Disease (MVD). It was becoming excruciating to watch her struggle to breath. Her panting was so labored, and she coughed so hard, it seemed like she was choking. She had fainting episodes that were becoming more frequent, and would often cause her to scream in pain if she collapsed and her limbs were caught in an awkward position. It was just heart breaking to see her struggle after doing the things she enjoyed, like chasing squirrels in the backyard, or barking at other dogs passing by the house. She had become very lethargic and "lazy". It was because her breathing was such hard work. It was exhausting for her.

Dr. Jenn was the veterinarian assigned to us. She arrived at our home to conduct the euthanasia process. She had the sweetest, and most calming presence. Honestly when I opened the door, it felt as if an angel had arrived to help us deal with a really tough situation. She explained what we could expect to see happen in a way that was reassuring and comforting. She gently guided us through the process, but allowed us to set the pace. Dr. Jenn sat on the floor with us in Ziggy's favorite spot and listened to us as we loved on and reassured our pooch that everything was going to be okay. It was a quick and calm process. When Dr. Jenn announced that Ziggy was at peace, it was the perfect description, because that's exactly how she looked: completely at peace. Dr. Jenn gave us all the time we needed with Ziggy.

I am convinced it was our duty to care for our beloved four-legged family member with the best of our ability, and making the decision to stop her suffering fell right in line. Lap of Love really helped us, as it was not the easiest decision to make. Deciding to do it in our home where Ziggy was most comfortable and calm was our last act of love towards her.

Many thanks to Dr. Jenn for her loving care of Ziggy at the end of her wonderful life. And to Michael who assisted us on the phone in booking the appointment, and his words of comfort and assurance. You both, and your agency are a blessing."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kristine Campanelli"We recently had to put our beagle, Gracie, to sleep. It was a very difficult decision, but she was unable to walk anymore. She had arthritis that had gotten very bad.
We decided to do it at home so she would be comfortable. Dr. Kristine came to our house. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she was! She was very patient and kind and didn't rush us. She said the most comforting things to all of us. My son was having an especially hard time and she was so respectful of the time he needed to say good bye.
The experience was extremely painful for all of us, but having Dr. Kristine do it with her gentle touch made it much more bearable. When she left, she gave each of us a hug. That meant so much to us. We can't thank her enough for making the end of Gracie's life so dignified and peaceful."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Nil Wilkins"Finding Lap of Love was truly a blessing. Bandit hated going to the vet. He was sick for awhile so he went a lot and he hated it, so it killed me thinking his last moments would be at a place he hated. When I called the vet to see if they would consider coming to my house they told me about Lap of Love. I can’t tell you what a relief that was for me it made the most difficult decision a little more easy. All I wanted was for him to be at home, for me to be there by his side holding him and loving him to the end. Dr. Nil came to our house and she was so compassionate and understanding she let me hold Bandit during his passing and it meant everything to me and Bandit. I will forever be grateful that Lap of Love and Dr Nil exist and are there for people and their fur family"Bobbi NellonsRiverviewOctober 20, 2019Bandit's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Loren Gassler"If there ever was a sweet and gentle veterinarian to assist a pet into her final transition, it's Dr. Loren. Words can't describe how grateful I am that Dr. Loren was Emma's hospice vet. She took her time, making sure to love up Emma first. She gently explained the process to our family, assuring us that Emma will feel no pain.

Emma's life was filled with love. Thanks to Dr. Loren, her last moments on earth were filled with love, too. Thank you, Dr. Loren, for being part of this process."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Sunday Cozzi"Deuce was diagnosed with Lymphoma on July 29, 2019. It was a shocking diagnosis - he was only 3 years old and the perfect picture of health. We counted every day with him after his diagnosis as a blessing. We made the very difficult decision to “lay him down”. (In the words of my 7 year old nephew) last week and contacted Lap of Love via email. Dr. Sunday replied to my email with information about lymphoma and the services that they offer. Even in an email her care and compassion was very palpable. When she came to our home she connected with Deuce and explained the process to us allowing us to ask any questions. She was so kind and gentle to Deuce. She made a horrible day a little more bearable. She is an angel."Kim AskewMonettaOctober 20, 2019Deuce's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Maggie Mottram"Yesterday we had to make that horrible decision to put down our 14 year old lovely Sheltie Turner. We have dreaded this day since we bought him years ago, knowing that most pet owners face this eventually. Turner was scared when we went to Angel Animal Hospital in Naples each time and shook horribly when he would take the ride in the car to go to them! I knew I had to have him euthanized at home and called Lap of Love. The same day I called them Dr. Maggie came to our house and was so sweet and caring and gentle!! Turner passed on with no anxiety and no pain!! I could not have asked for a more perfect ending to my little boy’s life! Thank you Dr. Maggie!"Dr. Gary StammNaplesOctober 20, 2019

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kali Jimenez"Having to say our final goodbye to our Jasper today was heart wrenching. My husband and I realized that he has been part of our lives long before we decided to make our family bigger with children. Now two children later, our family has been complete for quite a long time. But as with all of our ‘fur baby’s’, we understand it’s not forever. But knowing the time was near for our oldest baby, Jasper, it’s hard to process how sending him on can be anything but difficult. Having ‘Lap of Love’ and Dr. Kali as an option turned out to be an amazing experience. Their involvement allowed our baby to be comfortable, not frightened by an office, and ease into a better place. Thank you ‘Lap of Love’ and Dr. Kali for making something so difficult as compassionate and heart felt as we could have imagined."Rachael HSt John’sOctober 19, 2019
