Our beloved elderly pitbull, Loe, had been slowed down by orthopedic issues, but was still funny and feisty and an engine of joy. In July 2025, she was exhausted in a way I had never seen, and was ultimately diagnosed with a mass in the right atrium of her heart, probably hemangiosarcoma, with likely metastases to lungs and abdomen. The mass was causing arrhythmias, which she clearly was distressed by. We tried the sotalol that had been prescribed, and were told she might feel better in a few weeks, but she declined rapidly. Really within a period of 24 hours, it became obvious that she was suffering, and she was ready. I have never had to euthanize a pet before, and always wondered "Will I know when it's time?" I did. And it was awful in a way that I can't describe in words. She was pretty my world. But I felt that she was asking me to relieve her suffering. Given how rapidly she was declining, it was a near miracle that Dr. Bosco could come as quickly as she did. I knew I needed someone with a calm, tender and grounding presence. As soon as we greeted one another, I felt immense relief. I was treating the passage as sacred, performed in Loe's favorite nap spot at our lake house, with flowers, an altar, and family gathered to say their final goodbyes. Dr. Bosco immediately seemed to sense and honor how significant, and difficult, this moment was. Her presence was steady but not intrusive, and she radiated compassion. Loe appeared incredibly comfortable and peaceful throughout the process. After Loe passed, Dr. Bosco said "I can see how much you loved her, and I think you made the right choice." I have used those words as a mantra since, to reassure myself about the timing. We need real allies for these moments, threshold tenders, who can walk with us open-eyed and steady. Dr. Bosco was perfect. I am infinitely grateful that she appeared when we needed her.

Losing our dog and having to make the decision to end the suffering that he was in was one of the hardest decisions we had to make, but we knew it was the right decision for him and we are so thankful to know that while we miss him tremendously, he is at peace now. Dr. Molly with Lap of Love was amazing through this whole process. She came in with such a gentle and calm presence and she was so sweet to our boy. She helped give him such a peaceful passing and honestly we couldn’t be more thankful for the wonderful care she showed to him. She was patient and kind throughout the entire process with our Casper and our entire family. This is a very difficult process to go through for anyone who is losing a beloved pet, but Dr. Molly helped make the process one that was easier to bear. We thank you.

We recently had to say goodbye to Cayman, the last of our three boxers, and once again we turned to Lap of Love and Dr. Aimee Beckham. About a year and a half ago, we knew very little about in-home pet euthanasia when the time came to say goodbye to our boxer, Luxor. Someone recommended Lap of Love, and we were fortunate to have Dr. Beckham come to our home. Sadly, just one week later, we had to say goodbye to our boxer Aria as well. After our experience with Luxor, there was no question—we specifically requested Dr. Beckham again. There was also a real sense of relief in knowing our dogs could spend their final moments at home, in a place where they were happy, comfortable, and surrounded by the people who loved them. We didn’t have to put them through the added stress of taking them to the vet at an already difficult and frightening time. Instead, they were able to remain in the familiar surroundings of their own home, which brought us a great deal of comfort as well. Then, on September 15th, we faced it once more with Cayman. Saying goodbye to him was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, and once again, we specifically asked for Dr. Beckham. She is incredibly compassionate, patient, and gentle. She explains as much—or as little—of the process as you want to know. We have never felt rushed. She gave us all the time we needed before and during the process and then quietly stepped away afterward so we could have private time with our pups and say our final goodbyes. Having now gone through this three times with Dr. Beckham, I cannot recommend her or in-home euthanasia enough. Being able to say goodbye at home brought a sense of peace and dignity to some of the most heartbreaking moments of our lives. We will always be grateful to Dr. Beckham for the compassion and genuine care she showed Luxor, Aria, Cayman, and our family.
