Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Vencil, DVM"Dr. Jennifer was exactly what we needed in order to let our dog Zoey pass on to a place where she wasn't in pain and confusion anymore. It is the hardest but best decision you can make for your pet. To be able to let your pet pass at home is the kindest thing you can do for it. Dr. Jennifer was sweet, compassionate, and thorough as she explained what would take place. She let us mourn, but she also helped us along. We can not thank her enough and hope she gets to touch others lives and ease their loss and sorrow as she has ours. Best regards, Eileen and Dave Ballman"Eileen BallmanSt. AugustineOctober 17, 2014
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Cindi Worrall, DVM"As much as I wish no one ever has to use this service, any devoted pet owner realizes that there may come a day where such an awful decision is necessary. My family and I knew it was time for Mocha. She had been having seizures, and the helpless look in her eyes and the terror in her cries were more than we could handle, it was time for her to rest peacefully. We did not want to take her somewhere where they would handle things and then we'd be coming home without her. She was just as much a part of this home as any of us. She belonged here. Lap of Love offered us the peace of mind that Mocha could rest comfortably in her home until her final moments. Dr. Cindi was the epitome of compassion, we couldn't have asked for anyone more loving and empathetic for such a devastating time in both our and Mocha's lives. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to explain everything and answer any unresolved questions. We appreciate the feeling of moving at our own pace and not rushing anything. Mocha's paw prints will be cherished forever, also. The memorial post made in Mocha's honor was heartfelt, and we knew that Dr. Cindi listened and understood how much Mocha was a part of our family and the bond we had with her could never be broken. As previously stated, this is not a service or circumstance that anyone wishes to encounter, but when your beloved pet is hurting, you're hurting. I highly recommend this service and Dr. Cindi to anyone faced with this unfortunate and heartbreaking decision. When all you need is compassion and closure, you want someone like this to be with you in the utmost difficult time. The fact that Mocha did not have to be shipped off to a clinic and was able to lay peacefully in her own living room surrounded by the hugs and kisses of her beloved family made us feel as though we did the best we could for the best dog in the world. Thank you again.

RIP Miss Mocha"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Steven Schultz"Dr Schultz,

James and I would like to thank you for your care and gentleness in helping us with a very tough decision. We loved our cat, Horace so very much it was hard to make the decision to help him pass on. He was such a vital part of our lives for 20 years and is missed beyond belief. We will never be able to thank you enough.

With much sincerity,
Jim and Jill Hartner"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates"We were extremely lucky to come across lap of love, and more specifically, Dr. Brad. Our pup was not an easy going dog and we even had to sedate her before bringing her to the regular vet because she was such a terrified & skittish little girl. We were super anxious about when the day would come where we had to put her down, knowing that bringing her to the vet would be such a traumatic experience.

Luckily, we were able to speak to Dr. Brad a few weeks in advance when we knew she was taking a turn for the worse. He reassured us that he had worked with difficult dogs in the past and that we would know when it was her time. He was correct, we knew when she was ready and Dr. Brad was able to accommodate us that very day. Although our pup does not like strangers, she quickly relaxed with Dr. Brad’s demeanor being so therapeutic, calm & patient.

For such an upsetting time in a pet owners life, we couldn’t have been happier with this process. I would highly recommend Dr. Brad or another vet from lap of love in your area."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Katie Stender"Dr. Katie was absolutely wonderful throughout the whole process of letting go. She provided me with an at length phone consultation to help guide my decision, and was very accommodating in scheduling. When the day actually came, I cannot express my gratitude for her kindness, patience, and empathy. Saying goodbye in the comfort of our own home on our terms was priceless to us. We are still grieving the loss of our sweet boy, but I feel completely at peace with our decision after much discussion with Dr. Katie. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!"Amanda LoweJacksonvilleOctober 17, 2014

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Lauren Cassady"Goodness. This was our first time to have someone come to our home and tend to the special needs of one of our family members. I had no idea what this was going to look like, but I have to say.... it was the most peaceful, calming and loving event I could have imagined.
Dr. Lauren truly has a gift; A special gift with animals and their parents. She worked on our timetable through the process which was very comforting. Nothing happened until we were ready. I am so glad our Batman was able to pass on in the comfort of his home, and on his pillow. Thank you Lauren for your professionalism, your love and mercy. It is evident you have a giving heart and love for animals."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Lauren Cassady"I am so thankful to St. Francis Emergency Vet Hospital for providing me with information about Lap of Love. I contacted Lap of Love 10/07/14 to provide hospice care for Amber, my German Shepherd-mix breed 13 year old baby. Amber was diagnosed with cancer about a week before and the doctors at St. Francis said she likely had only days to live. I was hoping to be able to provide Amber with pain relief until she could pass away on her own; however, after a long and tearful conversation with Dr. Cassady, we determined it was best to "put her to sleep" that day.

Dr. Cassady, and the woman who answered the telephone at Lap of Love were fantastic. I could not imagine going through this with more caring, loving and professional individuals. Dr. Cassady asked me some tough questions, assessed Amber's physical and emotional health, and I decided it was time to let her go. It was a beautiful, warm October day. I put Amber's doggie bed under a tree and invited her to lay on it next to me. I held Amber in my arms as she gently slipped away, and her body melted into me. I'm so grateful Amber was able to pass away peacefully in the backyard of her own home, in my arms. It was very important to me that I be with her when she passed, I would not have wanted it any other way. Lap of Love, I cannot thank you enough for your service, and especially the kind and loving manner in which you handled this most sensitive and tearful situation."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates"I will be recommending Dr. Brad to all my family, friends, and to people I don't know if need be. He was an angel. He didn't rush through the process but took his time and explained what he was doing and what would be coming next. He is so caring, compassionate, calming and such a gentle soul. He did everything out of love for my dog. I am so glad that I chose to go through Lap of Love for this truly hard time. God bless Dr Brad and all who work for Lap of Love. I feel that Dr Brad doesn't consider what he does as work but a work done out of love and caring for the animals and in turn helps us pet parents. Jahti seemed to know why she was arriving at our home, and welcomed her with a wag of his tail and rolled right over for her to rub his tummy.
