Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jenn Roedig, DVM"Scott and I talked about how your services helped us know that we did the very best for Sammy, all the way up until her death. Your compassion, kindness, and gentleness made that terrible afternoon as easy as it could have been. We trusted you with our baby girl and you came through for all of us just perfectly."Kathleen PachinDayton, OhioFebruary 5, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jessica Spitzer, DVM"Dr. Jessica Spitzer made three visits to our home. Our first request was for an evaluation of our precious sixteen-year-old Bichon-Poodle, Nicky, who was plagued with muscle atrophy in his legs and could hardly walk on his own any longer, even with traction socks on his feet. He also had a lot of anxiety in the evenings.
We immediately found Dr. Jessica to be a very kind, caring and compassionate person. She was very thorough in her examination of our precious Nicky and very truthful with us in her evaluation of his physical and mental state. We found that this discussion with her helped and comforted us in making our final decision, which we made a week later.
Then on January 18, 2019, the day that we had long dreaded, the final good bye. Dr. Jessica arrived again on time. We had prepared the family room with candles and soft piano music. We had Nicky lying in the sun in his favorite spot on the couch. She patiently waited as we read a short prayer we had prepared and shared memories of our precious Nicky over the last sixteen years. Only when we were ready, did she gently approach Nicky and very softly touched him, which to us was a gracious expression of her respect for our Nicky. She gave us some time alone with him after the sedation, as well as after the final injection.
When she returned, Dr. Jessica had a small basket and a tiny white blanket with black paw prints. She gently wrapped Nicky with the small blanket and very carefully placed him in the basket, just as a mother would do with a newborn baby, then we carried Nicky to her car for his last ride.
The following day we received a very nice email from Dr. Jessica along with a link to the Lap Of Love Facebook page where she had posted a Memorial to ‘Nicky’. A few days later we received a sympathy card from her. On January 30, 2019, Dr. Jessica returned Nicky’s ashes and spent more time with us.

Our sincere thanks to Dr. Jessica Spitzer for being there with us, for us, and truly understanding what this experience is all about."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Heather Manfredi, DVM"I cannot express the gratitude our family feels for Dr. Heather. She came to our home and treated not just us but, our beloved dog Binx with all the love and respect we could have ever wanted. Binx was 16 + years old and the most incredible dog you will ever know. The decision to euthanize him was so painful to all of us. Dr Heather gave us ALL the information and options to make our decision. She wasn’t just a “doctor” to us that day.... she was a caring, loving woman who knew the pain we were in. Just amazing! I know her love and devotion to animal life is so important to her. Sadly Binx is no longer with us but his last moments were spent with a loving family and a loving veterinarian who cherishes life. Thank you again Dr. Heather. You made an incredibly sad and devastating day into a an experience of witnessing the good in people. Thank you again."Nana DowseSmithtown, NYFebruary 5, 2019

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Nellie Wilbers, DVM"Dr. Nellie was very caring and sweet with our Baby Boy. All I wanted for my buddy was for his last moments to be stress free and comfortable surrounded by his family (and a couple more bites of food for the road), and I think we got to give him all of that. Thank you for everything."Barbara BenasColumbus, OhioFebruary 5, 2019Sauron's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jordy Merrifield, DVM"Dr. Jordy Merrifield came to help us say goodbye to Kipling and Uma on Friday.

Dr Jordy was a gentle and compassionate guide who soothed and comforted all of us.

She made our saddest day a sacred event.

We were so fortunate to find Dr. Jordy, and appreciate the empathy and genuine caring she brought us."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Skevakis, DVM"We are very grateful to Dr. Shannon for the help she provided during a very difficult time. She was very understanding and after examining Buddie confirmed we were doing the right thing. Having dogs all my life saying good bye never gets easier. I always dreaded bringing my beloved pets into the doctor’s office for the last time. Not having to do this made a difficult situation much more comfortable. My Buddie was able to stay at home in a comfortable spot. During his final moments he didn’t have to be nervous in the doctor’s office on the cold metal exam table. It’s never a pleasant time but it made saying good bye somewhat easier. I also want to mention Dr. Shannon’s quick response once we felt it was time."Thomas MikaLawrenceville, New JerseyFebruary 5, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Suzanne Cosentino, DVM"I could write a novel about my sweet angel Ace. At nearly 10 he had the personality of a much younger pup and people were often shocked when I would tell them his age. A true gentle giant, a lover of life and adventure. Always happy and never a bad day....until there were. Ace wasn't right and had suddenly dropped weight. Upon taking him to the vet we found out he was ate up with cancer. It had overtaken his spleen, lungs and had spread to his bones. He was struggling to breathe and he was scared.

I knew I had to let him go. The thought and pain of it was so scary to me. I can not write enough kind words about Lap of Love and Suzanne. Read all of the comments, she is amazing!!!!!!!!! I never in a million years thought I could feel so comfortable and comforted in such a situation. All I can say is thank you and that doesn't seem like enough."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Skevakis, DVM"We can’t thank Dr. Shannon enough for her loving and kind compassion through this difficult time for our family. Her soothing voice and compassionate bedside manner were instrumental in keeping us all calm. You can tell Chipper felt Dr. Shannon's love and never showed nervousness. Dr. Shannon talked us through the process, explaining each step-in detail. She took her time and we never felt rushed. She ensured us that with Chipper’s condition we were making the right decision. We will forever be grateful to Dr. Shannon for being there during one of the most painful and difficult moments of our lives. Saying farewell to a family member is never easy. Dr. Shannon provided a dignified experience for our beloved Chipper. We are forever grateful Dr. Shannon came into our lives when she did. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!"Lisa JannoneBridgewater, New JerseyFebruary 4, 2019Chipper's Pet Memorial

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kendra Healy, DVM"It has taken me a long time to write this as I still miss my Suno very much but thought it necessary to share the referral of this great service offered by Lap Of Love. Dr K Healy was so patient and caring during our process & it was greatly appreciated. It was a blessing to be able to have her come to our home so Suno could pass on while in the comfort of his home & with his family vs going into a veterinary office. We are so thankful for this service offered & will chose this service again when needed."Melissa KingLexington, KentuckyFebruary 4, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kendra Healy, DVM"Dr Kendra preformed a difficult service for us this past week having to put to sleep , after a long and tiring fight , our beautiful princess Lacey. Her compassion for us, as well as our girl, was beyond words. To think I could keep my girl here at home, quiet and calm, and with her family, avoiding those chaotic and hectic moments one must undertake at the last moments of our pet’s life. It can be extremely hard for both you and your family to be uprooted and brought to the Vet in those final hours . Instead, Lacey was home with those whom she loved and loved her back. My heart was blessed. Dr Kendra even took Lacey’s remains herself, to be delivered to me on a later date , so that I could mourn my cat rather than having to run her to a crematorium in my emotional state of mind. Thank you is truly not enough. You are a Godsend in our time of need. Out pets are definitely family as well and our loved ones deserve the best. Gd bless all that you do."Kristine ThompsonLexington, KentuckyFebruary 4, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jordan Taheri, DVM"This is the second time we have used Lap of Love and we will never do it any other way. After finding that my sweet boy was stricken with cancer we had to make the decision to let him go. Dr. Jordan was the best. Kind, gentle and truly caring. It's never an easy thing but Lap of Love helps."Angela PowellPlantation, FloridaFebruary 4, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashley Payne, DVM"At 4:20 this Sunday afternoon our family lost one of the best friends we had. Our sweet Captain passed away peacefully at home in his favorite spot by the fire. We were able to provide hospice care and spend the last three days giving hugs, kisses, milk shakes, cheeseburgers, saltine crackers (his favorite), and French fries. We all camped out in the living room with him and never left his side! He went on a golf cart ride to the lake and enjoyed the sunshine and watching the ducks! We will miss him so much. He brought smiles to everyone's face! We love you Captain! He was with our family thirteen years. Thank you so much to Dr. Ashley and Lap of Love for the compassion, patience, and love you provided for our family in this sad time. I am forever grateful!"Traci BoullionPeachtree City, GeorgiaFebruary 4, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kristine Campanelli, DVM"It has taken a few days to work through an array of different emotions to sit down and be able to express my gratitude towards Lap of Love and more specifically Dr. Kristine. Princess, who has been apart of our family for the past (almost) 18 years, crossed over the rainbow bridge with the help and support of Dr. Kristine on February 1st, 2019.

Princess, better known as Meow Meow or Momma, had a rough start to life. She was found abandoned in a dumpster along with her siblings cold, malnourished and in need of love; and that is exactly what we set out to do. For the past 18 years she served as a backbone in our family. She helped assimilate new members of the family that included dog and cat brothers and sisters. She was the definition of tiny but mighty. Her meow was a roar that was a force to be reckoned with and she didn't let anyone forget that. She spent her days roaming the yard, in tune with her outdoor beginnings, chasing the butterflies and the birds and lounging in the warm sun.

But as life naturally goes on Princess started "experiencing life" less and less. Her back legs succumbed to arthritis and her petite stature became less and less muscular making her our little mousy girl. But true to her nature she continued on. To her being frail and weak wasn't a challenge she wasn't willing to face, but we silently took note of her decline. Mentally, she started to become out of tune, staring off confused and didn't always make it to the liter box. Again, nothing she or us her family couldn't handle. Again, we took note of it. Finally, our Prinny girl became totally incontinent.

How do you make the decision that isn't just life altering... but life ending? It is our duty as not only pet owners but family members to our fury friends to make sure the end isn't a painful departure, but a warm welcoming to the other side. After a week or so of numbing debate we knew it was time, and reached out to Lap of Love. After reviewing different testimonials, one specific comment struck close to home. And I think that is all we're looking for... to KNOW we're making the right decision about someone we hold so close and love so dearly. "It is better to be done a week early than a day too late." - how true this is.

We made an appointment to send our Prinny over the rainbow bridge almost 5 days in advance. This allowed us, her family, to give her extra snuggles, kisses, and treats: there would be no doubt in her mind she was not loved. I can not praise those who work in the office for making this painful time as easy as possible, treating us with compassion and sympathy as we lose a member of our home. And then there is Dr. Kristine. I truly believe there are only a handful of people suited for this: she is one of them. Though she only knew us and Princess for a very short time, she cared and mourned with us and made the process as comfortable as possible for us but more importantly Princess. We were able to send Princess off on her next grand adventure over the bridge surrounded by people who truly loved and cared for her. Dr. Kristine is truly an angel sent from above.

If this is being read by someone who is trying to make this impossible decision, or maybe by someone who has already made the decision and is looking for a sign that it is the "right one" please let this be it. There are no other people I would turn to than those at Lap of Love. Based solely off of how wonderful Dr. Kristine was, I can only imagine how great everyone else is.

Until we meet again Prinny girl. We love you."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashley Payne, DVM"After 20 wonderful years with my kitty Fiona, we knew it was time to let her go. My heart ached so much being worried about the process, but it couldn't have been smoother or more painless for our sweet girl. Dr Ashley was so kind and gentle and made an awful thing so much easier. We were so blessed to have Fiona for so many years and our hearts are breaking missing her. The price you pay for the love you get when you adopt a fur kid. But I can't recommend Lap of Love enough when the time for goodbye has come. Dr Ashley was amazing and her calm demeanor and gentleness with Fiona made all the difference."Angela LandersKennesaw, GeorgiaFebruary 4, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kristine Campanelli, DVM"I want to express my greatest appreciation to Lap of Love and Dr. Kristine Campanelli who helped me at a very difficult time with letting go of my cat, Mr. Boo Radley. Starting with my initial phone call to Lap of Love and speaking with Vicki Baum, I knew right away I had made the right decision and choice. Their professionalism, patience, and quick response to my request of immediate care made this whole experience a peaceful and comforting one for my family and Mr. Boo. To have a peaceful passing, I was able to hold Mr. Boo in the comfort of our home wrapped in his favorite blanket. Also, to have a lock of his hair and paw print in clay will be a wonderful keepsake that I will cherish forever. Dr. Kristine’s suggestions for my other cat, Matilda Louise, has helped her adjust to Mr. Boo’s passing. I would not hesitate to recommend Lap of Love should you ever be in a position of having to let go of your pet. It is the last loving gift you can give to them."Lynn BonannoAmityville, NYFebruary 4, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jordy Merrifield, DVM"Dr. Jordy assisted us in saying goodbye to our beloved Jake, who was taken from us much too soon. And thank you for providing such an amazing service."Alice BlondellTempe, ArizonaFebruary 3, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kendra Healy, DVM"Dr. Kendra Healy was amazing, very compassionate, understanding. She allowed me to vent and cry. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Elizabeth Merchant, DVM"I can't say enough about the caring service Lap of Love provides in one of the most difficult times in a family's life. Dr. Elizabeth Merchant was exceptional! Although my husband and I have been through the process twice before at a vet's office, this was the first time I was alone as Paul was traveling and couldn't 't make it back in time. She was sooo caring and empathetic and took the time I needed to have a few more moments with Baylee, my babygirl Golden Retriever. My sister wrote a poem and a dear friend sent another and Elizabeth took the time to hear the back stories on a few of the lines and then read them out loud as Baylee calmed down. We laughed a bit at some great stories and cried together. It was a beautiful way to say goodbye as Baylee went to play in the big sky with her brothers and sisters. Lap of Love is an incredible service of love in the privacy of your own home and I will forever remember Elizabeth and her kindness to help me through it. I am also thankful for the paw print and tuft of hair we kept (that was falling out from chemo). It was also comforting to see her wrap Baylee in a soft blankie with her head exposed as if taking a nap. I only wish our younger Golden had been here as I think she might have gotten over Baylee's absence a bit easier had she seen what happened (just a suggestion to those that might read.
Thank you Elizabeth and team!

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jo Millard, DVM"Although I don't feel like writing this now, I need to. Four days ago I had to put my boxer to sleep. He was almost 10 years old and had not been himself for about a year. Finally, he quit eating and drinking water. I did not want him to suffer from starvation or dehydration. I wanted him to pass in his own bed so I called Dr. Millard at Lap of Love. It did cost more than taking him to our local vet, but it was worth every cent. Dr. Millard was very patient, informative, and compassionate. I know time will ease the grief, but for now, I have the peace of knowing that I did all I could for my buddy, Mac.
