Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Katie Stender, DVM"This day will forever be in our memories and in our hearts. We said goodbye to a longtime family member with Tucker's passing. Dr. Katie was incredibly kind, patient, and overall an angel!

Dr. Katie told us he was a king all the way to the end. He was a very regal huge black lab. We are forever grateful that we had Dr. Katie...we were still a mess but she made it so much better.

Our appreciation is endless and we will pass on the kindness that was shown to us whenever we get a chance.

Thank you again.

Love, The O'Connor-Main Family and beloved Tucker. We will miss him."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jordan Taheri, DVM"We lost our sweet boy yesterday. This is our second time using Lap of Love and I would like to thank them and recommend them. One of the toughest decisions ever is having to place the call to have them come out and trying to know when the time is right for your pet.
They are very respectful, very caring and make a terrible time in your life a little easier. Giving your loved one the opportunity to pass in your home where they are comfortable and surrounded by everyone they love makes it a little easier as well.

Cooper you will be loved always and held in our hearts and memories forever. Miss you buddy!"

You were kind and understanding. You were truly an angel in our time of need. You helped us through the process as well as give us as much time needed to say goodbye to our baby. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Tina Olivieri, DVM"Saying goodbye to Muffinhead after having by my side for 17 years was the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do. Dr. Tina was so wonderful and supportive to our family, letting us take all the time we needed. She explained everything so we would know what to expect and her calm presence was exactly what I needed. Thank you for giving Muffinhead a peaceful goodbye and for showing you truly care about the families you help."Kerry LeonardLos Angeles, CaliforniaMay 5, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Allie Prokop, DVM"Dr. Allie showed much compassion, kindness and gentleness to Gunner and his humans last week. We had a hard time reaching the decision on when to send him along, but we knew he was suffering. I am so pleased at how calm the process was and that he was not afraid. (He loved to sit and watch thunderstorms, but hated going to the vet.). Coming to our home was a wonderful gift to him and Dr. Allie was gentle and kind to all of us. She has such a sweet spirit. We miss Gunner, but at the same time we are comforted. Thanks so much for your work - it is truly a ministry."Sylvia McGheeOAK RIDGE, TennesseeMay 5, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Maggie Mottram, DVM"Dr. Maggie was incredibly kind, incredibly gracious, respectful and comforting. I could not have asked for anything more! Having Suki at home, in her own bed with those who loved her was the right answer! I buried her today with her favorite toy and I’m sure she’s with her papa!

Thank you"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Erin Deveau, DVM"Our sweet girl spent so much time at the vets office managing her cancer for the last three years that she would literally shake when we got in the lobby. Even though our oncologist and the staff were amazing and wonderful, she just hated going there. We didn't want her last encounter to be there so our vet recommended Lap of Love. Chloe had just celebrated her 15th birthday a week ago but the last few days I could see that the cancer pain was getting bigger than she could handle even with pain meds so I made the call. From the minute Dr. Erin entered our home it was clear she was there to help our girl pass with Grace and dignity. First she gave her something to manage her pain. Soon she was pug snoring and finally getting good sleep. She gave us all time to love on her and say our goodbyes. We never felt rushed to do the last injection. She explained everything as we went along. She was sleeping peacefully in her favorite doggie bed when she got her wings. Even then Dr. Erin continued with respect and dignity as she wrapped her in a soft pink blanket like a swaddled baby. My husband requested to carry her out to the car. We have 4 other dogs but she was the boss lady of our home and the absence of her is palatable. Thank you doesn't even begin to express our feelings to Dr. Erin. She didn't come to put our girl down, she came to help her cross with respect to and dignity. Forever our girl, Chloe. She joins her sister Lola who passed 3 years ago. They were always joined at the hip."Brenda SullivanAlbuquerque, New MexicoMay 5, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jo Millard, DVM"I cannot adequately put into words the care Dr. Jo gave Henry and our entire family on her visit. Our cherished 15 yr old puppy received the most beautiful passing and her genuine care for him as well as our family was outstanding. I can't thank her enough. Her presence and heartfelt compassion were comforting and reassuring."Amanda BrooksDecatur, GeorgiaMay 5, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Sunday Cozzi, DVM"Dr. Sunday helped our 13.10 yr. old Cane Corso, Pan "Dora", transition to The Rainbow Bridge on Friday morning. Husband and I knew nothing of Lap of Love prior to the evening before. Our vet couldn't get out to help and she suggested Lap of Love. Our dog was able to remain in her beloved surroundings and transition peacefully with her family members (canine and human) at her side. Dr. Sunday had the most real and genuine affect that I have ever observed in a veterinarian. We were so pleased with the entire process. Her calming and sincere caring and professionalism were evident in all of her actions. We are going to keep your services in mind in future and we are recommending you to friends and family."Nancy CurlMartinez, GeorgiaMay 5, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Heather Manfredi, DVM"I highly recommend Lap of Love. With much trepidation and anxieties, we were very unsure of how to proceed when our 14 year old beloved Husky, Lucky, was getting old. As time went by, her deteriorating symptoms were worsening by the day. After 3 separate phone calls to Lap of Love, and each one was handled with such care and empathy, we were convinced that it was inevitable, they needed to come to our home. With not even a day's notice, Dr. Heather was at our doorstep. Needless to say, she was gentle and professional not only with Lucky, but also with us as well! Lucky did not feel a thing and just went to sleep, exactly the way they described it would be. As this sad moment will never be forgotten in our lives, the care and consideration we received from Dr. Heather will never be forgotten either!
Thanks again, Lap of Love.

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jenn Roedig, DVM"Dr. Jenn was very compassionate during the most difficult time when we said goodbye to our kitty Jetta who was our 'fire cat' we called her. After a house fire 18 yrs ago in which we lost 5 animals, this kitty was gifted to us two days after the fire. To say goodbye to her was like saying goodbye all over again to all the animals and her.
I didn't know prior to now how less painful the euthanasia can be or that it has to be very painful and shocking to an animal at the veterinarian office. When we put my Dad's doggie to sleep, it was hurried, fast. The sleepy shot put Ichi into instant coma like state. The euthanasia shot killed her almost immediately.
With Dr. Jenn, the sleepy shot was a slower process, slowly relaxed our fur baby kitty. I would say maybe 15 minutes of slowly relaxing her versus the instant result in the vet office. We had time for her to hear us, pet her, love on her. The euthanasia shot was administered discreetly without us seeing it put in, thank you Dr. Jenn SO VERY MUCH for that. It was a while before the shot took effect which helped us instead of an instantaneous bam like at a vet office.
I appreciated Dr. Jenn so much. She also had a special kitty as a child and sharing that with us, helped us also. When one has a very special animal who helps them through the hardest of times in life, it is very hard to let go.
Big hugs to Dr. Jenn, we will never forget you. Thank you for being so calm, caring, loving, compassionate with Jetta and us both."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kristina Kalivoda, DVM"Dr. Kristina was amazing! Compassionate and patient and kind. We cannot thank her enough for helping us by assuring us we were doing right by Penny. I will NEVER forget her."Rhoda NoelWILMETTE, IllinoisMay 4, 2019Penny Frances's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Skevakis, DVM"I was so thankful I was told about Lap of Love. I had a 16 year old dog and I knew his time was coming. From the first phone call I made to Lap of Love to schedule them, I felt like I was talking to one of my friends. They were so compassionate and listened to my story about my baby. They asked questions about Prince what he liked, how he came into my life, etc. They truly cared! When the doctor came out, she was so loving and compassionate to me and Prince. She talked to him in a soft voice, answered all of my questions, and created a warm and loving environment for Prince to cross peacefully and in a relaxed way."Kristin BarberRahway, New JerseyMay 3, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Toby Goldman, DVM"Yesterday was a sad day indeed. In the last few weeks I have known our 15 year old Golden Retriever Captain Jack's days were very numbered. He'd shown all the signs, even as much as seemingly 'telling' me he was ready, in his own way, and giving up on life in the last few days. I couldn't imagine how I was going to get this big boy up into my truck and to the vets. A friend recommended Lap of Love and the in-home euthanasia services. I can't say enough about how great this process was. Dr. Toby was so gentle, caring, kind and compassionate. There was no stress, and no rush. He understood the uneasy feelings I was having. He connected with the other dogs in the house straight away. It was such a pleasant experience to watch our old Jack ease out of pain, and pass. The other dogs were sitting near by to say good-bye, as if they truly understood. I appreciate this service so much, and highly recommend it to anyone in this situation."Stephanie BrownLas Vegas, NevadaMay 3, 2019

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Heather Manfredi, DVM"I am writing to all the animal lovers at the crossroads between loving a beloved pet and losing a beloved pet. My family was grateful to welcome out baby Peanut into our home in 2006 when he was 10 weeks old. We were heartbroken to have let him go in March of 2019. During those 13 wonderful years, he was truly my baby. I walked him every day and he was the mascot of the neighborhood – all the kids would run from their houses yelling Peanut’s coming, Peanut’s coming. He would love the attention and then, when our walk was through, we would sit together on the porch, weather permitting. He would lounge in the sun and I would read until he was ready to go back inside. He was my shadow and would follow me from room to room even if I was only going for a minute. I always tried to remember this thought - we have friends, work, church, acquaintances - our pets only have us. I was mindful of giving my baby the best possible life for the time he was here.

In January of 2018, Peanut tore his ACL. Since he was already 12, the vet treated him medically and he did well on the medication. We could see, however, that there was a steady decline. He was slowing down and had more difficulty doing all the things that were so easy for him in the past. I was really struggling to know what the right thing for him would be. In August, I contacted Lap of Love to gather information and to find out the procedure when the time came. They were absolutely wonderful. Everything was explained to me and they sent me literature that would help us know when it was time. I knew I did not want to take him to a vet’s office – he hated the vet and I did not want his last memories to be there.

In November, Peanut could no longer make it around the block but, every day he would still stare at his leash ready to venture out. I started walking him just in front of the house, but he still would pull to go all the way around. His spirit was there but his little leggies couldn't manage. We knew the end was near, but he seemed, still to be comfortable on the meds.

We had a last Christmas with him and on February 21st we had a big 13th birthday party for him.

The last month, things were getting worse almost by the day. We made the heartbreaking decision to free him from his pain. Through the tears, I called Lap of Love. Their understanding and compassion was really amazing as I made the appointment that would change our lives forever.

I was extremely grateful that we had a last glorious day together. It was beautiful outside and we spent the day in the back yard. He rummaged in the leaves that remained from fall and I picked up sticks. In the past, I would throw him his ball or a toy or a stick and he would chase it for hours. This time, he just enjoyed his yard and his last day in the sun. I was happy to watch him lie in the grass. Later on, his special magic-belly petter, Maria (my daughter) and I walked him in front of the house a final time. He was happy but he was shuffling toward the end. It was heartbreaking to take him back in the house for the last time. He didn't even want to sit on the porch - he just wanted to go home. It was surreal when the sun set that day knowing my baby would not see another one.

The night before he died, he was walking around and around the house panting and panting until he finally settled down around 2 am. It broke my heart when the vet told us that his panting was a sign of pain, stress and anxiety. It took him so long to settle down because he knew it would hurt him to lie down and get comfortable. I was only so grateful that it was only one night that he had to deal with that.

Dr. Heather came on March 20, 2019 to help our baby cross over. She was wonderful and calming. She wanted to hear all about Peanut, what he liked to do and the fun times we had together. She explained what would happen, what he would feel. Interestingly, when she gave him the first injection to relax him – a completely different look came over him. His face reverted back to puppyhood as if he could finally let go of all his pain. Dr. Heather was calm when she told us he had his angel wings. I am so, so grateful that we were able to let Peanut transition from this life in his own home surrounded by his family that loved and cherished him. It is a peace that I will never forget and that I owe to Lap of Love.

We have struggled with my baby’s loss, but I just keep remembering that, in the end – it was not really a decision, at all. It would have been selfish to let him continue in pain. We know we will meet him again at the Rainbow Bridge and he will be waiting for us. Rest easy, my Peanut.

I can share this with animal lovers, because I know you know.

God bless you all and your most beloved pets.

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Shannon Skevakis, DVM"We searched for a mobile vet to help make our "Bella" comfortable in her final days. We did not know about the hospice service and were lucky enough to find Dr. Skevakis. We could no longer lift Bella into the car, have her bounce around aggravating her pain threshold and then wait in a waiting room where she was too anxious also increasing her pain. Dr. Skevakis came to our home, redirected our care plan and provided Bella with two more months in her home where she was secure and comfortable.

When the time came to end her discomfort, we all stayed by her bed, fed her her favorite foods and pet and hugged her til she past. It was a truly warm tribute to end our precious baby's sufferings. She was where she always wanted to be with the people who she loved and trusted. Special thanks to Dr. Skevakis and Michael who took my last sobbed filled phone call. We will never forget what you did for us...many thanks for your help!"
