Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Elyse Persico"My Grandmother was fond of saying, "A dog's ONLY fault is they just don't live long enough!"
Such was the case with our 16 year old "rescue" Golden Retriever named Rocky. Over the past few months he had slowed to the point where he ate sporadically, had trouble going outside, and usually remained wherever we carried him; not an easy task for a 70 pound dog!
I came across the Lap of Love site online a few months back; certainly seemed a better solution to what I knew was coming than the all too sterile and "sudden" Vet's steel table. In addition, the amount of anxiety Rocky had when visiting the Vet was jut too much to put him through for one last time. We wanted something better..
I called Lap of Love last Friday and spoke to Christina; she was nothing short of amazing. I scheduled an appointment for the next day. She sent me some great material to read and all financials were addressed prior to actual appointment.
From the moment Dr. Persico arrived I knew I'd made the right decision. She completed a full Physical on Rocky on the carpet in our den. He was so relaxed and she was so caring that I can't even begin to tell you how relieved it made us feel. We covered all options to include potential medications we might try. Unfortunately, Rocky's quality of life had diminished to the point where the only reason to continue day to day care was caused by, in all honesty, human selfishness.
When the time came Dr. Persico took great care to ensure Rock was comfortable. In fact, she first administered a sedative while my wife fed Rocky his favorite meal of roast chicken. Was it difficult? Absolutely; I don't mean to relay this was an easy decision by any means. However, I've been through this too many times in my life and this was the FIRST time that my family AND the dog were at ease.
Dr. Persico (Elyse) took care of everything to include taking Rocky away for cremation. This service is simply amazing.
I encourage you to at least go to the website and read their mission statement and the testimonials. I believe when the time comes to make this all too difficult decision - you'll feel empowered; hard to ask for much more.
Thank you Elyse. Thank you so very much.
With great respect,
Joe and Robyn Lyon"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Lisa Rodin"I couldn't be happier with the care we received from Lap of Love and Dr. Lisa. I'll admit that I was skeptical at first, having found Lap of Love through a simple Google search, but I was adamant about having my dog's final moments be warm and comfortable in her own home; not terrified in a vet's office. (My vet couldn't make house calls at the time.) She had a cancer diagnosis and took a turn for the worst almost overnight. I couldn't let her go on suffering and it was critical that I do something that day before it got even worse. I knew I was in good hands when I spoke with the staff at Lap of Love to get information about the service. Everyone was so gentle and compassionate, and they placed a hold on the appointment for me with no obligation to keep it, giving me time to discuss the decision with my family. I decided to keep the appointment and give it a try.

Dr. Lisa showed up right on time and would have probably been early, but Lap of Love had given me the option to have her wait until the allotted time, which I had taken to spend as much time with my dog as possible before it was time. I knew as soon as she walked in the door when she greeted my dog that we were in good hands. My dog wasn't a friendly one to strangers, but she took to Dr. Lisa right away and was quickly relaxed with all of us around her.

Dr. Lisa was very patient and did not make me feel rushed at all, nor did she make me feel guilty or embarrassed for the grief I was experiencing. (My dog had been a constant companion for over 12 years.) She treated my dog like one of her own. She was very thorough and explained every part of the process before we began, what we could expect to see, and what my dog would be feeling every step of the way. She gave us all time to say our goodbyes and the process went as planned with no complications. Afterwards, she made a clay pawprint mold for me that I will cherish. (She also offered to clip a lock of fur for me, but I declined because I felt it would be too difficult for me to have.)

In all, I have nothing but good things to say about Lap of Love and Dr. Lisa. I don't normally write testimonials or reviews for things, but I wanted to be sure that if there is someone out there who is struggling with the decision to help their beloved pet cross the bridge and wants to make their last moments as comfortable and peaceful as possible, Lap of Love, and especially Dr. Lisa, will take good care of you and yours.

Thank you Dr. Lisa and Lap of Love so much for helping me to take my beloved dog's pain off of her shoulders and onto mine instead. She was so deeply loved and is so sorely missed."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Elyse Persico"We couldn't have asked for a more caring person and veterinarian than Dr. Elyse Persico. We were shocked to learn that our wonderful Border Collie, Molly, had cancer and that her time was at hand. Dr. Elyse came and spent time with Molly and us in Molly's favorite place, the backyard. She was so gentle, caring and loving to our Molly that Molly had no anxiety and was at peace in our presence. Thank you for making Molly's passing so peaceful. We miss her terribly, but cherish all of our wonderful memories of her."Amy DanielsVirginia BeachNovember 13, 2019

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dana Lewis"Dana,

We want to personally thank you for the love and care you provided us. We couldn’t have been happier with the way you took care of Gizmo and us. Thank you for being so kind and gentle with him. When you placed him in the basket and tucked him in he looked so peaceful. He was with us for almost 18 years and when I said goodbye knowing I was never going to see him again I felt a sense of comfort seeing him at rest. I’ll keep that memory forever. You helped us get through one of the worst days of our lives and we will be forever grateful we found you.

God bless you,

Steve and Theresa"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Tina Olivieri"When we had to make the devastating decision to help our little buddy Bacon pass, I arranged for Dr. Tina to come after she was highly recommended by a friend. She is so considerate, respectful, gentle and has a genuine love for animals. Bacon was completely at ease with her as were our other dog and cat who came and sat with us throughout the whole process. It’s so hard saying goodbye to a pet, but Dr. Tina made the whole experience totally stress and pain free for Bacon, which is the best gift we could give to her, as well as to ourselves. We are so very grateful to Dr. Tina for taking such good care of our friend."Brooke WorrelLos AngelesNovember 12, 2019

I will never be able to find the words to thank you enough for what you did yesterday to help our Cody move on to his next adventure in such a pain free loving way. You are a wonderful, compassionate, knowledgeable and all around good guy. This was such a better way to have the end of life celebrated instead of a rushed, loud and painful death. We are all doing so much better today because we know we took care of our wonderful Cody right to the end the best way possible. We will always miss our constant companion and will be looking forward to being with him on the other side. Thank you! You were our hero yesterday."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Roger Chase"How kind of you Doctor Rodger! My boys and I greatly appreciated how kindly and patiently you helped Toto pass on. That meant the world to me, I'd been agonizing over how it could be possible to help him leave here without a lot of fear and pain. He was such a sweet little dog. I am definitely feeling the emptiness you referred to. My cat also misses him, she keeps going to where his bed was, sniffing around and then meowing. So tomorrow I'm going to find us another cat. I will be sure to refer anyone who needs their pet to be sent on to heaven to you. Thanks again, Michelle"HolladayNovember 12, 2019
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Amanda Grant"Dr. Amanda Grant was amazing with our sweet 13 year old goldendoodle, Coby. It was time to say goodbye to him, and we had just relocated from out of state and had a difficult time finding veterinary care. Scheduling was easy, Dr Amanda was prompt, caring and kind. Coby left our us peacefully and lovingly in our own home. Dr Amanda even made a keepsake clay pawprint for us to remember him by. We would wholeheartedly recommend Lap of Love and Dr Amanda for your pet's end of life care."Thomas RamseyPompano BeachNovember 12, 2019Coby Ramsey's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kimberly Carper"Kimberly is an amazing Vet. Start to finish she gently guided us through the entire process. From the moment she arrived we could feel her compassion. Her kind words reassured us that we were making the right decision. She took her time and answered all of our questions. Brinks deserved the best possible release available. I have so much gratitude for Kimberly and the service that she offered. Brinks died well in the comfort of his own home in his favorite spot. Kimberly walked us through a tremendously gut wrenching situation, and helped to alleviate some of the pain. It made the process bearable. We felt comfort knowing that Brinks was going home with her to do the hand off to the team that will prepare his remains. Her caring bedside manner is unmatched in my humble opinion. Thank you so much Kimberly I can not emphasize enough our gratitude."Jesse and Wendy WarnerCedar ParkNovember 12, 2019Brinks Broken Oaks Joseph's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Christina Scudder"To know Mikey was to love him. Through fourteen years, he was my best friend and my constant companion. He was the favorite of the house and everyone knew it. After a lump was found back in February, a vet visit confirmed Mikey was not a good candidate for surgery - between being diabetic, a bad kidney, and a heart murmur, and that nothing could be done. To say we were heartbroken was an understatement. The vet gave us strict orders to spoil him rotten, and that's exactly what we did for eight and a half months. Eventually, his tumor got the best of him. Breathing became hard and food became uninteresting. The time came to contact Lap of Love. At my request, we communicated through email. They responded quickly with care and full of helpful information and were easy to schedule with. Even still, it was the hardest decision I have ever had to make in my life.

Dr. Scudder came as scheduled and was incredibly kind and thoughtful. She took the time to get to know Mikey, answer all of our questions and let us take as much time as we needed with our sweet kitty. She helped us make paw prints, in both clay and ink. Dr. Scudder was happy to work in our space, so that Mikey was comfortable and loved through the whole process. It was a blessing to have the ability to have Dr. Scudder come to us, instead of having the stress of going to the vet. I will forever be grateful for the care, love, and respect of Dr. Scudder and the services of Lap of Love."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Loren Gassler"Madison was the first pet I have ever had to go down this path with. I was so worried that when the time I would be able to be there for her. I received information about Laps of Love from a friend that had to recently say goodbye to her dog. After talking with her I knew that when the time came they are who I would call. Little did I know I would be making the call the next week. Dr. Gassier came in and sat down on the floor and got to know all the pets. She let me tell her the story how Maddy came into my life and just took time to listen. She explained everything to me and was so loving and gentle with Maddy it was such a relief. No stressful ride in the car for Maddy, not vets office. She was able to go on her next journey in the safety of her dog bed with me Molly and Tigger by her side. I would not have changed anything other than having her for a longer any my life. Thank Loren for everything. Your wonderful email later that day. The loving way you took care of Maddy and me. You are a god send."Candace CobbTarpon SpringsNovember 12, 2019Madison's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kim Bruce"Dr. Kim was outstanding and very professional and helped us greatly in this experience. She also educated us about our dog's disease and we felt more comfortable with our decision. Our dog passed with the respect and dignity he deserved. So much better and less traumatic than doing this in a vet office. Our dog was calm, relaxed and felt no fear - just compassion. The experience at home was not only more peaceful, but helped us with our guilt, closure and grieving as well. The phone staff was outstanding as well and gave us all the information we needed prior. Highly recommend Dr. Kim and Lap of Love in this painful time."Jenny KachnicDenverNovember 11, 2019
