Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jessica Gibson"In early March, our sweet 13 year-old kitty Milo was diagnosed with Gastric Lymphoma. Following his diagnosis we made the decision to treat his illness with palliative care. The quality of his life seemed good for the first 3 months. However in July we were seeing a decline and thought it was time to let him go. We asked for help through Lap of Love. Dr. Jessica came to visit us, spent all the time we needed to discuss how we were feeling and what she was seeing in Milo. We made the decision to wait on euthanizing Milo and continue to treat his symptoms, hoping to give him more quality time. We had Milo for 10 more days until he declined rapidly and we were sure it was time to say goodbye. I will never regret those 10 days with Milo. Even though, he didn't always seem great, he was happy to be with us and we were happy to be with him.

Dr. Jessica went above and beyond looking for feedback from her online veterinary colleagues to help Milo. She kept in constant contact and, promptly, responded to my email questions and concerns. I'm thankful to Jessica for working so hard to help us and help Milo and for providing his hospice care."

She demonstrates profound emotional intelligence, as well as thorough medical knowledge--both of which were very comforting and reassuring as I decided how to handle Freya's condition. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Sally Lynch"We couldn’t have asked for more care and concern from the Lap of Love staff. It was very difficult to make that initial phone call, but Shanan was so considerate and helpful. At our home, Dr. Sally showed great gentleness and respect for Nina, and for us. She took the time to give our other cat, Nina’s buddy Ben, the opportunity to say goodbye. Nina’s last moments were peaceful and filled with love in familiar surroundings, and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. We will always be grateful for Dr. Sally’s compassionate care. Lap of Love, thank you for doing this important work."Lisa PalmerHopkintonJuly 26, 2020Nina's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kristine Campanelli"I am so grateful that I met Dr. Kristine and her Team. My Dog Kelly was my baby and was an extension of me. When I had to face the challenge of putting her to sleep because of her health I was devastated. This was not an easy decision for me but I knew that my girl would continue to fight to stay with me; and that was too selfish to keep her in such pain. Dr. Kristine and her team made it easier to face this challenge and yet send her on in the most heartwarming and sympathetic manner. Thank you so much Lap of Love and please continue to be as kind to help others that were in my position."Jean GrobSt. JamesJuly 26, 2020
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Emily Brown"Thank you so much for giving our sweet Gracie a peaceful passing. We were lucky to have her for all but six weeks of her life. She was almost 14 years old and still could make you smile. Dr. Emily you gave our family so much love & peace when you came to our home so our sweet girl could be surrounded by the ones she love as she passed. Your kindness still fills my heart as we heal from the passing of our family’s first “fur baby.” I can’t say enough how much your kindness & care has meant for us all. Thank you Dr. Emily for caring for our sweet precious Gracie. She was truly one of a kind puppy and we will miss her immensely.
Love,
The Moore’s"

During this crazy time of covid, I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to hold my baby when he crossed. Dr. Campanelli was amazing. She wore protective PPE that allowed me to hold my baby. She was so kind and compassionate. She even came on a day no one was available. She made time to help us in our need. I miss my baby more than anything in this world. He was my son, my love, my soul mate, my everything. MOMMY LOVES YOU TUUKKA RYYLEE."Anita CarusoShirleyJuly 26, 2020

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Amara Hickson"Blue was an incredible companion for 14 years. She survived cancer once but the second bout plus her age proved to be too much. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Stephanie Henderson"Dr Stephanie has an amazing way with humans and pets. She is compassionate and professional...always saying just the right thing at just the right time. This is the second time Dr Stephanie has helped us with the peaceful passing of a feline family member. She sat with us outside, and petted Tuxie in his bed...we all felt Dr Stephanie's love and compassion. When we were ready, Tuxie just slipped away peacefully in his bed - just like we had hoped. She definitely made a difference to us, and I greatly appreciate her!"Ellen GreenwoodSpringfieldJuly 26, 2020Tuxie's Pet Memorial

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Miranda Shaw"I was utterly astounded at the level of professionalism, compassion, and dignity I received from my experience with Lap of Love. I was pressed to find an in-home euthanasia service to do a same-day appointment. My Sonia took a turn for the worse overnight and was suffering terribly. She had been fighting so hard, but now was starving, thirsty, and exhausted from frequent vomiting. I could not find an available service to come out to help end her suffering. It was completely distressing. Lap of Love took my call and it was amazing from the get-go. Shanan R, the Veterinary Care Coordinator, was so soothing and respectable to my situation. I don't know how I was able to speak to answer her questions, but she made it doable and coached me through it. I felt in good hands from the beginning, and so grateful that they could help me that very day.
We were able to see Sonia's first angel with her, because it was Dr. Miranda Shaw. Dr. Miranda is a true angel in the flesh. It was not just her manner of speaking, the choice of her words, and the gentleness of her actions that provided the utmost comfort, but it was also her manner of being that just exuded kindness and warmth. It takes a special person to hold the responsibilities of a job such as hers, and she does it with such grace. Dr. Miranda was professional without being cold. She was efficient and well-prepared to help Sonia let go. She guided us through the process, and let us have as much time as we needed each step of the way.
Sonia was treated with such dignity, at all times. When Dr. Miranda ended her suffering, we placed her in a nice basket with a little pillow, and covered her with a soft, clean blanket. Dr. Miranda asked if we would like to send her with a favorite toy, and we cradled her stuffed squirrel within her front paws. Sonia truly looked at peace. Dr. Miranda let me carry Sonia to her car. It were these little touches that made this experience as comforting as it could ever be.
To my surprise, Sonia came back home exactly 24 hours later. Her remains were hand-delivered. I continued to be awed by the high level of care in service.
Lap of Love let me give Sonia the best final gift possible. I am so grateful they were the ones to pick up my phone call. They handled everything for me, which was an absolute Godsend for such a painful event. I wouldn't want anyone else to take care of my Sonia. With 16 years of beautiful companionship, she deserved the best. I am grieving now, but Lap of Love and Dr. Miranda gave me such peace. I didn't think that would be possible.
Thank you for your beautiful service."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Charlie Deutsch"It isn't easy saying goodbye to a pet. Especially when that pet is such a huge part of your family and daily life revolves around them. On July 15th, we had to do the unimaginable and we were forced to make a humane decision to end our Lab Pitbull's life. He has been battling cancer since November 2019 and he fought a strong fight. We met so many helpful people throughout him receiving his medical and holistic treatments. One person stood out to us though, his name is Dr. Charlie Deutsch, DVM. He was patient with us every moment of the way. He spoke kindly, but also with genuine concern for our pet and assured us we were making the correct choice. We spoke briefly of his past experiences, including being a doggy surgeon so I immediately felt as ease like we were getting a second opinion of Riley's condition. His professionalism was so strong, even though we were so distraught in our moment of weakness. His calming presence made a world of difference and we are so thankful that Dr. Charlie was here to help guide us through one of the toughest things we have had to deal with. We strongly suggest using Lap of Love for their at home services and we won't even consider alternatives in the future. Riley crossed over the rainbow bridge with dignity, surrounded by love, and in the peace and comfort of home. Dr. Charlie has followed up with us to make sure we are doing ok and we appreciate that too."Nina HamrockMidway CityJuly 26, 2020
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Charlie Deutsch"Dr. Charlie was absolutely the BEST! I cannot say enough good things about him. He felt like a part of our family even though he spent a short amount of time with us. He was considerate, understanding, patient and loving towards our pet, Brownie. We could not have asked for a better Veterinarian. Dr. Charlie helped us get through an incredibly difficult day by being so professional and caring both towards us and our dog. We are incredibly thankful for Dr. Charlie and will never forget the love he showed us. He truly is passionate about his job and does such an excellent job connecting with the family. Don’t hesitate to use Lap of Love and make sure to request Dr. Charlie. The minute he called me to speak about my appointment I already knew Dr. Charlie would be great. He completely put our minds at ease and he has a great calm demeanor. We owe you a lifetime of gratitude Dr. Charlie."Leonie Liu-LeeBreaJuly 26, 2020

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Torie Neff"Lap of Love was so great from start to finish. I am so thankful that they offer their services during this COVID-19 situation.

Our beloved Maddie has always been so anxious when going to the vet that it was such a relief to be able to say goodbye to her in her own home with all her family surrounding here. Dr. Torie was incredible and we really appreciate the fact that she explained the whole process to us, was so kind and thoughtful, and gave us all the time and space to be with Maddie at the end. I also really appreciate the person who took my call and that they were able to accommodate our request so quickly as we didn't want to prolong Maddie's suffering any longer. Their service was so caring, and definitely made an incredibly sad event so much more bearable."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Amy Parrish"I couldn’t have asked for more caring individuals. Every phone call was filled with caring and concern. On Charlie’s last day, Dr. Amy couldn’t have been better. She was so gentle with Charlie and so respectful of us. She made us keepsakes along the way, such as a paw print and a lock of hair. He died the way I would want to die, peacefully and surrounded by the people he loved the most. I couldn’t have given him that send off without lap of love. I will forever be grateful for the amazing work they do."Alexa WolfeEastonJuly 25, 2020Charlie Wolfe's Pet Memorial
