Dr. Rina Fernandez was truly amazing with us and Oliver. She took the time to hear our best stories about Oliver and let us cry and even laugh at some of our favorite stories about Oliver. The comfort she gave us was beyond extraordinary. She definitely had me calmed down by the time she was leaving. After she left of course I broke down again because it really hit me he wasn’t here with us but I keep replaying in my mind her comforting words about us doing the best for Oliver in the end! We will always appreciate how kind and compassionate she was with Oliver and just wanting to hear our fears, concerns and just listen to our sadness over this. I am so grateful to her for walking us through this horrible day.
When the time came to say goodbye to our sweet boy Ollie, we knew we wanted him to be where he felt safest, most loved, and most at peace… at home. From the moment she arrived, Dr. Laura brought a calm, gentle presence that instantly put us at ease during one of the hardest moments of our lives. She treated Ollie with such dignity, tenderness, and love, speaking softly to him, honoring his life, and giving us all the time we needed to love on him, hold him, and say goodbye. Ollie passed peacefully in bed, surrounded by the people who loved him most, and that is a gift we will carry with us forever. In the middle of so much heartbreak, Dr. Laura gave us comfort, grace, and peace. There are no words to fully express our gratitude to Lap of Love and especially Dr. Laura for helping our sweet boy cross the rainbow bridge with such love and dignity.
