Dr. Dane said all the right things at the right moments during the worst day of my life. When he came inside, he sat down on the hallway floor so we could talk while petting our dogs. He explained everything gently so that our 5 year old could understand, and when she panicked and ran to pick a flower for our sweet girl after the sedative kicked in, he carefully tucked the flower between her paws before she passed. When he placed her in the basket, he made sure the flower stayed with her, even though our daughter had already left the room. His care in treating our Rosie with dignity and honoring her lifetime of unconditional love was a gift to us.
Jess was such an incredible, kind, gentle soul to us and Finn. Finn was always nervous with new people, so she made sure she was so very gentle with him. She made sure we had the time we needed to say goodbye and to read my letter to him before he was at peace. It has to take an incredibly strong, empathetic, kind hearted person to do this work, and I'm so glad that she is, she was made for it. If you are going through with an at home euthanasia for your best friend, you and them will be in the most wonderful hands possible. She even emailed us the day after to check in and to give us some extra resources to utilize. We felt supported from the beginning to now - going through the grieving process.
