Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Lauren Crescenzi, DVM"Words cannot express how grateful I am to Dr.Lauren. She gave me hope and encouragement last year when I needed that, and thoughtfulness and compassion when I needed it this past week. She gave Detroit and I extra time when I thought our time was over, and gave Detroit a peaceful and calm passing - preserving his dignity to the end. I felt as if Detroit was "not just another dog or another case" to her,and that her actions and words were genuine and heartfelt. God bless her, a thousand times over, she is a special person."Diane GraffMifflintown, PennsylvaniaFebruary 11, 2015Detroit's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Mary Gardner, DVM"Dr. Mary Gardner was wonderful. Fran's condition had deteriorated very rapidly. I had to make an urgent call on a Sunday morning. But Mary was able to drive to Riverside within an hour to be there for us. Thank you, Mary for being so patient and kind, in helping Francesca make her transition peacefully and painlessly, and for and helping me through the saddest moment of my life. You perform a wonderful service and I am grateful."Rose CookRiverside, CaliforniaFebruary 11, 2015Francesca Cook's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Cook, DVM"On the afternoon of February 8, 2015, I said goodbye to my beloved furry companion, Smoky, and set him free from the ravages of cancer. I'm so very grateful for the loving kindness, and help of Dr.Jennifer Cook whose gentleness, sensitivity, empathy, and compassion gave comfort to me and dignity, love, and tenderness to my sweet baby as we bid him farewell.
Smoky died calmly, quietly, and peacefully in his favorite outdoor place....our backyard with his "papa" by his side and me holding his paw and caressing his head. It hurts to lose him, but I'm thankful for our time together and the special bond and relationship we had.
Thank you, Dr. Cook, for easing the pain of saying goodbye to my sweet boy."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"It has taken me a moment muster up the strength to thank Dr. Brad and Lap of Love for all of their amazing work. I can not explain the roller coaster of emotions I have been on since my cat, Oreo, was diagnosed with CRF. Oreo has been my closest companion since I was 11 yrs old, and I had him for over 15 years. When he was diagnosed I was devastated, I made the difficult decision to give him in-home care with fluids and diet which prolonged his life and gave him a better quality of life for many months. There were good days and bad days, and on the worst day I called Dr. Brad and he immediately responded. He was there to receive my call and listen to my situation. He was available all through the night in case we needed him sooner. When it was time for our appointment Dr. Brad came in and assured us it was time, and that Oreo was ready, which we already knew, but it was nice to hear it from someone else. Dr. Brad was calm, collected, and most importantly, gentle. He took the utmost care in providing Oreo with the comfort he needed, and deserved. You could see that in Dr. Brad, that he truly loves and understands animals. That this wasn't just a job to him. I think our decision to go through with in-home euthanasia was the best decision I could have made. Since my cat got sick I feared that day, I had nightmares about that day, that he would meet his end on a metal table while scared and hissing at everyone around him. Unfortunately, not everyone has that gracious timing. But, I was very lucky and happy that I did have it. Lap of Love made this dreadful and painful moment less painful. It was actually extremely peaceful and it helped me greatly with the grieving process. So thank you Dr. Brad. Thank you so much."Alexis GrantWest Philadelphia, PennsylvaniaFebruary 11, 2015
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jason Goodwin, DVM"My dear cat, Lydia, passed away today, assisted in her journey by Dr. Jason Goodwin. I cannot speak highly enough of him and his professional care and compassion, both with Lydia and earlier with her brother, Lightfoot. They both were able to pass away in my arms at home with as little fear and pain as possible. Thank you, Dr. Goodwin!"Lynn GirardeauSeattle, WashingtonFebruary 11, 2015
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Cindi Worrall, DVM"Dr. Cindi helped us through a very difficult time. Her patience, kindness and understanding with Jake was comforting. She followed up with a touching memorial and took the time to send us a thoughtful sympathy note. She is someone who truly cares. Jake is no longer with us, but he passed gently and peacefully with us by his side, in his home. Thank you again Dr. Cindi."Joanne & Russ KaterPerkasie, PennsylvaniaFebruary 11, 2015Jake's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: David Rousseau, DVM"John and I want to thank Dr. David and his associates for all their words of compassion during this sorrowful time. From the moment Dr. David arrived at our home we felt comforted by his kind & gentle demeanor. Though the decision to make the call is the most difficult decision EVER... the relief offered to our innocent animals is one of true mercy in their final time of need. l know that no matter how much we love & will miss our fury babies, Lap Of Love brings the ultimate peace of mind that your beloved pet does not ( did not ) have to continue suffering. For us, to know our precious kitty, Narc could be in the comfort of his home & not be stressed further by the process of being put into a carrier, driven to a hospital (which was nauseating & horrible for him every trip) and experience all the strange animal scents, sounds & fear was NOT an option for us. We said from the start we'd make him as comfortable as possible until his final day. Having Lap Of Love is the ultimate gesture of compassion you can give. So, once again THANK YOU Lap of Love!! 💖 RIP our angel, Narc 💏 (11/2002 ~ 2/7/15) Best wishes & prayers to all🙏
All our gratitude,
Dina & John Phillips"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jason Goodwin, DVM"Last Saturday we were told by two veterinarians that our dog, who had been acting sick all week, was very ill and we needed to consider putting her down. We contacted Dr. Goodwin and arranged for him to come to our home to perform the service. The next morning when Dr. Godwin arrived I asked him to give us his personal opinion on the case as this had happened so suddenly. He examined our dog who seemed to be doing better that morning and after looking over the records and X-rays, he deemed the diagnosis a bit premature and suggested we take her for additional testing before making the decision. 36 hours later, my dog has recovered almost completely and while the testing has confirmed that she is still sick, she is chasing her ball, wanting to bite the UPS driver and eating and drinking normally again. We were just minutes away from putting her to sleep and if not for his experience, compassion and integrity my dog would not be here today. What a traumatic experience this weekend was and while I don't want to give anyone false hopes of a similar outcome for their dogs, I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Goodwin. It remains to be seen how much time our dog will be with us but today she is happy and looking as healthy as she was before taking ill. For today, Foxie lives and when that inevitable day arrives, Dr. Goodwin will be here to lay her to rest; just not today. I took the attached picture of her at the pet store today getting a new squeaky toy. Thank you Dr. Goodwin!"Stirling McBrideWoodinville, WashingtonFebruary 9, 2015
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"We are so thankful to Dr Brad. Thankful for sparing our Zeus one more trip to the veterinary office where he would pace with anxiety if he had the strength. Thankful for the love and warm respect he showed to our sweet old man dog. But most thankful that Angels from God must have walked into our home right behind Dr. Brad. Zeus never stopped being a watch dog, but he wagged his tail with joy and relief as soon as he saw Dr. Brad, as if he knew the help he needed had arrived. Zeus was my Father's faithful "buddy" until my Dad's death in 2013. At last they are together again in Heaven. Words can't express our thanks."Susan SnyderPhiladelphia, PennsylvaniaFebruary 9, 2015
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Mary Gardner, DVM"This last Wednesday, after making the very painful decision that “it was time” to say goodbye to my beloved cat, Bizou (means “kiss” in French with a spelling twist), My husband Sandy & I were fortunate to have one of the Founders, Dr. Mary Gardner, to guide us through the agonizing process of letting go. Dr. Mary was BEYOND wonderful, which made a difficult experience much easier as she held us together through the process with clarity, compassion and calmness.

(You may want some tissues handy)

The initial sedative given put our Bizou into a deep happy sleep; she was purring and comfortable and in her favorite spot on our bed with both of us petting and telling her how much we loved her while she drifted off to a very cozy sleep. The final injection was done in her kidney, so that it goes to the brain first, in turn alerting everything else to stop slowly and gently, with the heart being the last . I witnessed how my Bizou never felt any of the anxiety or discomfort of being in the Vet's office, there was no cold steel table in a room with weird smells. She was in the house she knew with the people and things she loved and she felt SAFE. In fact, she was purring the entire time she was leaving us, which was comforting.

It took some time for her heart to stop..again, no pain at all. And when Dr. Mary listened for the final time, she confirmed ever so gently with the phrase “And Bizou now has her wings!!” (yeah.. that’s a choker moment, for sure.. my husband was a puddle by then). Again, it was comforting to know she gradually slipped away, dreaming of mousies and catnip… only sleeping…just sleeping…

After we sat with her quietly for a little bit, we let our other kitties come in to sniff so they would understand, (recommended, but they’re not too keen on hanging out with the Angel of Death (vet) in the room so they skedaddled away pretty quick), Dr. Mary then captured a paw print in ceramic, clipped off some fur, and ever so delicately put her in an adorable lined wicker basket, covered her with a blanket with her head peeping out like a baby. It was so sweet and loving we actually took pictures. It was so very different than either of us have experienced before. Bizou didn’t have that cold fixed stare that usually occurs when a cat has passed, she had this wonderful, peaceful look like she was JUST about to close her eyes for a great snooze on a sunny day. You know the look, I’m sure..

Bizou was a very unique, cool cat and we had 16 wonderful years together. She takes with her a huge part of me as she & I have grown and nurtured one another through many phases of life. I will miss her deeply.

I realize I am still stunned over losing her, but also over how beautifully her ending was. So VERY different than other past experiences of this nature.. Bizou gave us so many gifts and joy, so we are content in our hearts that she went so gently and with the dignity she deserved. It was truly our last loving gesture to HER.

So…~ Au Revoir &Sweet Dreams, precious Bizou~.. until we meet again.. have fun with all our beloved peeps and pets up there while you watch over us from heaven.

With Love,
Your human Mama, Cat & human Daddy, Sandy..(that guy you never let forget it was your spot in the bed FIRST)"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"Having our girl pass at home in our arms was the hardest thing to do even though we knew it was the right and only decision. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"We are so grateful that Dr. Brad was there for us and our sweet Clara when we needed him. In her too-short time with us, we only wanted her to be happy for all her days, and to pass as peacefully as possible. Dr. Brad was gentle and compassionate to all of us in a difficult time. He helped us send off Clara lovingly at home with her favorite humans by her side."Eugene Wright MyersPhiladelphia, PennsylvaniaFebruary 8, 2015
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Amanda Grant, DVM"Dr. Amanda Grant was wonderful. She was kind and let me take my time with the process. She was very compassionate and understanding. Although I had never met her before, I was compelled to hug her before she left because I was so grateful for how delicately she handled such a sorrowful experience. I am blessed that I was able to say goodbye to my love Chappie in this special way. I will recommend her services to all my friends and any new people that cross my path in the future."Anna DicembrePompano Beach, FloridaFebruary 8, 2015Chappie's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Barry Cherno, DVM"Thank you. It is hard to imagine someone coming from crazy UF party school really being one of the calmest very compassionate individuals to perform releasing Davidson into his new life but you were. Thank you for stepping in when I was to grieved to do things I should have, like placing him in the basket. I do have to say the timing worked out well since I had more than 30 mins. after you left with him to lay on the bed & hold the basket as the sun set until Honor Thy Pet came. Had they come sooner I would not have had the time to feel like it was just like another day for us and also the moments to say good bye personally. p.s. this memorial was a good idea after all, glad your co. recommends as the day after has been hard."Susan WagnerSundance, FloridaFebruary 8, 2015Davidson's Pet Memorial

We are so happy we heard about you, Diezel, our mastiff did not like the car and did not like to leave the house.

for the compassion and kindness you showed to us and Diezel."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"Melo was the light of my life. I've had him since he was 7 weeks old and he's traveled to 4 different states with me. He was my constant companion, my shadow, my light, my joy, my best friend for 12 years. Making the decision to end my baby's pain is the hardest thing anyone can ever do. Having the option to do it in my home was the best thing I could possibly do for my baby boy. And having a doctor like doctor Brad was priceless. He was so kind and empathetic and helped my baby boy Melo cross over the rainbow bridge in peace. I cannot put into words the comfort I felt. Thank you to Dr Brad and Lap of Love."Nicole DiodatiNorristown, PennsylvaniaFebruary 7, 2015
